BengalByTheBay
The problem with this type of game is that the typical Bengals team reads these same news clippings and thinks - ah, this will be EASY...........and then the other team hands their overconfident a$$ to themAfter all - the backups on weeks like this are out to impress someone - their coach (for more playing time) or other GMs (for a big FA contract)I am getting that sick feeling that we are in for this same kind of letdownBut sure, I hope I am wrong.Pretty sure more players read ESPN than Walter's page. The vast majority of the mainstream media has Denver winning the game and they're favored by 5.5. So, I'm not sure where the perception of overconfidence you fear is going to come from. That doesn't mean they win, but I strongly doubt they lose due to overconfidence and media elation.

The O-Line needs to be ready to block and keep him clean, and give him pockets to throw, or run if he decides. Im still hoping they let him run some bootlegs or something to get him out of the pocket on some throws.

Spor_tees
Mark Schlereth took the Broncos and Teddy Bruschi took the Bengals! Schlereth basically said the Broncos had too much pride to lose last week and then come back and lose at home. Bruschi said he took the Bengals because they are going to simply hand the ball off all day and run the Broncos into the ground.
kingwilly
Bengals 33 - Donkeys 13This wont even be close. I predict 4 INT's. Orton will press once they go down 21-0.I predict a big game for Benson and Scott. I think they get more screens and draws for Scott and he breaks some big plays. Dumervil overpursues like Jared Allen, so Fat Andre can simply slide him around the play, as Scott rips huge gains over the right side on delays and draws. With Champ covering AJ, I also predict Simpson has a rebound game and catches all balls thrown his way. Dalton will go 17-28 and 225 with a TD to Shipley.Blowout, 33-13.

jonahdsage
With so many starters out for Denver Im concerned about being over confident. Who will cover our WRs? Can a horrible run defense now depleted stop Cedric and Bernard? How will Orton handle all the pressure created by our front 4? All those questions suggest we should grind these guys into the ground ... Which is typically the scenario the bengals play worst in. I hope our boys stay focused and do their job. Remember though, not all homers pick their team. Lou Holtz picked USF (coached by his son) over Notre Dame, and he was right...I'm a Notre Dame fan and the last few years have been tough. Their hasn't been any real 'luck of the Irish' for a long time. The ball always seems to bounce the other way.

O-Line was breaking down letting up sacks, and they didnt run the ball as well, or as much. The 4th quarter they came back and attacked again, so i wonder what if they played all four quarters like they played the first?? So thats what i want to see this week dont stop attacking, play hard for all 4 quarters.

While I think you may have overstated things a bit I too am expecting a little more passing from the Bengals than most are predicting. Not because of anything related to the Broncos themselves, but because the Bengals are a work in progress and the thing this offense needs the most right now is more production from the WR positions. Obviously they need chunk plays from the passing game, but more than that...they need to get everyone involved. In short, I think they'll try to throw the ball more precisely because they haven't had much success yet. Furthermore, I think they'll attempt more chunk plays precisely because the game is on the road against another home team that doesn't enjoy strong support from the home crowd. Denver fans, much like Cleveland fans, are a very unhappy bunch whose breath can be taken away, as Marvin so often likes to say. If the Bengals can be the more poised and better disciplined team down the stretch, as they were last week, they could deny the home team the momentum and home field advantage. I'm calling it.... Bengals - Twenty something Broncos - Less
Spor_tees
The Bengals might get some long pass plays this week but I still see them sticking with the ground game to a tune of about 60/40% or maybe even 65/35%. This might be AJ Green's break out week.I'm guessing a score of Bengals 28 Denver
derekshank
Bengals 33 - Donkeys 13I'm guessing a score of Bengals 28 Denver 10Good lord! Talk about a knee jerk reaction to a week 1 victory. The Bengals appear to have returned to their '09 roots. They won 10 games with that strategy, and it is one that I wholeheartedly endorse... but it rarely results in blowouts. 9 of their 10 victories were by 10 points or less, and when the Bengals do win games this year, I expect more of the same. The Bengals pull out a W... by less than 7. If the Bengals get 3 turnovers from the Broncos this week look for some short fields and quick scores.Wasn't Orton the Bear's QB in 2009 when the Bengals picked off 4 or 5 passes? TJJackson
They Bengals just dont seem to have too much luck no matter what in Denver...the ball bounces (like last year) in mysterious ways sometimes no matter how badly f'ed up the other team isDonkeys 16Bengals 13Neither team winning would be a surprise to meOne team blowing the other out would be pretty much the only outcome that would be a surprise

Remember how much discussion there was after he scored the TD in the preseason last year? We have a knack for being the launching pad for people's careers.Keep the turnovers down and the crowd out of it and I think we will win if we can pound the ball in mass quantities.BTW, Orton's flub up was in 2005 in Chicago. I think it was his rookie year. http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=2509250032006 was the year we fk'd up the extra point and lost by a point 24-23. I swear sometimes this team is cursed. Spor_tees
Yeah that was 2005, I was at the Minnesota game and another game that year. Sorry I got that mixed up, all these winning seasons seem to run together.
semiotter
Couldnt ask for much of a easier road game. Denver is pretty down this year and we did look better than i thought last week. Go Bengals....
Stripes
I love to see so much confidence. I expect a toss up though, either team winning by 1-7 points. Turnovers will be more impactful here than they were in Cleveland, I suspect.
volcom69
Yea i have no idea what to think of this game, sure Denver might have a bunch of guys out, but the bengals still have to travel to mile high where they have not been that great.A rookie QB coming off an injury, not really sure how he will look or how much he will have on the ball. They need to run the ball early and often, and let Dalton ease into this game and build some confidence.Orton is still there QB, and can still win in this league and still gets his 300 yard games. So the d-line needs to be fast and physical, and get in Ortons face all day long. Decker on special teams seems pretty good, so special teams needs to show up and stop there guys. They need to attack all 4 quarters and not let up if they get the lead. So hope they get a break this week and things go the bengals way, because Mile High is always tough for them.

bwillycuse
Their #1 WR, #1 RB, #1 pass rusher, #1 DB all out or hobbled.hmmmI still have no idea about score. But I think we have a good chance to win. If I had to bet I would take the Bengals.I have one question. Why is Denver favored so much with so many negatives surrounding them. They were bad last year, have a ridiculous QB controversy, mass injuries and played poorly last week. Did they earn this respect or do people just give Bengals opponent the benefit of doubt. Heck, me included.
