cincyhokie Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 I love it. Absolutely no respect whatsoever.I saw one power ranking thy the Bengals made it all the way to 29th (by far the lowest ranked 1-0 team). Who took over at dead last? The Browns. So disrespectful it's hilarious. It's bizzare. People are so entrenched that the Bengals are THAT terrible that anyone who loses to them is automatically crap. I've NEVER seen a team ranked #29 in a week one power ranking that is 1-0. Was listening to Bengals Line last night. Gradkowski acknowledged that the team does in fact feed off the disrespect to some degree. I think he said "It has definately added to the chip on alot of these guy's shoulders". Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 So... the Broncos defense allowed 190 rushing yards last night (ranking 31st in the NFL). Their offense rushed for 38 yards (ranking 32nd in the NFL).The Broncos have a decent pass rush, and Orton usually gets a lot of passing yards... but those rushing stats indicate the Bengals will be able to play the kind of game they want to play.I can't believe I'm saying this... but I think the Bengals start the season 2-0.A 2-0 start is a definite possibility. Just do what we did last week. Establish a running game, and no turnovers. Quote
cincyhokie Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 The disrespect continues into Tuesday. Seriously, I didn't/don't/won't expect anyone to start calling the Bengals world beaters, or even a good team, but the media has gone out of their way it seems to downplay the Bengals win.I clicked on this article from nfl.com as it wrote about "hidden gems" or players who made a difference in their games, but weren't noticed, this past Sunday. Check it out! I about spit out my coffee./>http://blogs.nfl.com/2011/09/12/unearthing-the-hidden-gems-from-week-1/?module=HP11_content_stream Quote
COB Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 It's not just disrespect. It's outright hate in some instances. Peter King for instance, I believe he loathes the Bengals. MMQ is a hate crime. Quote

walzav29 Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 Well you have to realize that being a good prognosticator. They will have to wait until they are 4-0 before people swallow their pride. Fact is they don't watch the Bengals, and don't know anything. Denver is coming off a Monday nighter where they got physically beat up. The Bengals want to be physical and just pound it. Which is a perfect fit. 2-0 is staring us right in the face. Quote

cincy9275 Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 we attack them the same way we went after the clowns. run the ball down their throat, let the defense lose. keep the pressure on orton. i believe our D can make it a long unpleasant game for the bronco's offense! the bronco's can't stop the run or run the ball at all. i think the broncos weaknesses plays right in to our strengths. i think we win start 2-0.WHO DEY!!!! But I'm not sure the Bengals are particularly good against the pass. And that is the way the Broncos prefer to move the ball (13 rushing attempts and 46 passing attempts). The Brandon Lloyd injury is big, because he's probably their best player, and Orton isn't nearly the slippery bastard that Colt McCoy was on Sunday... but I could see a lot of yards surrendered through the air.Hopefully the Bengals defense will stay fresh and rested on the sidelines while the Bengals running game grinds out 7-8 minute scoring drives. HoosierCat Posted September 14, 2011 Author Report Posted September 14, 2011 FWIW Bengals opened as 5.5 dogs. I've seen that dip down to 4.5 points in places. But either way Denver isn't etting much more than the gimme 3-point home field advantage. Quote

I was saying they should sign Donald Lee he is a vet TE who is a good blocker, and they still want a 3rd TE!Lito Sheppard, not really sure what that is about unless Jennings is still not ready, but i thought he was practicing at the end last week?? Really i mean i dont think the Steelers are that good, or the Ravens are that great. Im happy about the bengals win, but im going to keep my cool, because i know this year there is alot of young guys playing out there and there will be some mistakes and loses. It just makes me laugh thats all!!With that said i still think this will be a tough game even if Denver will be without some guys, only because its on the road, in a crazy place like Denver, guys have to get used to the altitude. They need to keep there poise out there, and dont make any stupid penalties, or turn the ball over, just play smart ball. The o-line needs keep up the good play, in fact get better and the QB have time to throw. Looked like you could run on Denver, so run the ball early and often agaisnt them and dont give up on it either.Im also glad that Marvin said in his presser that the team kind of let up after the 1st quarter, which is what i saw on Sunday. The 1st they were attacking, running the ball hard, the o-line was coming off strong blowing guys up! The 2nd quarter totally different story the o-line was struggling gave up 3 sacks, and the running game stalled. So keep attacking every quarter, and dont give up.Oh and please Andy please play on Sunday Quote

But the signing has to be proof that Jennings is ready to go, right? And it's probably also proof that Chase Coffman will never make this team. Quote

Rico wasnt great, but at least he could play both S and CB in a pinch. Coffman must not have bettered his blocking since last season. Quote
volcom69 Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 Jennings practiced and will play this week.I like the Lee move only because i think they need more blocking TE, and thats what Lee gives them, along with a vet with good hands. I think he will fit in good here, and give Dalton another guy to throw to also, so i say good move. Now as far as Dalton goes im starting to get depressed, now im hearing he did not throw today, i really hope he throws sometime this week, i really want to see him play. Sure Grad won the game, but he didnt look all that great while in there, plus i would rather just see Dalton continue to grow with the offense. Guess they better run the ball 40 times, with all 3 backs. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 14, 2011 Author Report Posted September 14, 2011 I'm not expecting Dalton to play. Oh, well, that's why they signed Gradkowski in the first place. Quote

Oh, well, that's why they signed Gradkowski in the first place.Well thats just great, i was looking forward to Dalton playing!!! I dont have a problem with Gradkowski i just hope now that he is practicing with the first string guys, that he will look better this week, and plays mistake free. I hope they run the hell out of the ball and use all 3 running backs if need be. O-line needs to win the line of scrimage this week.Hope the defense goes out and dominates again, and the d-line takes over the game, and they actully get some turnovers! Quote
HairOnFire Posted September 14, 2011 Report Posted September 14, 2011 (shrug) Andy Dalton has the potential to be a much better QB than Bruce Gradkowski, but as I write this I seriously doubt he's better QB. But more importantly, if the Bengals do change QB's it won't dictate a change in the Bengals gameplan. We're still talking about a power running game, endless short passes, and the occasional shot at a big play. Gradkowski can manage that. Hell, it's all that's being asked of Dalton. Manage the game. Use the talent that surrounds you. Make the other guy beat you, if he can. Last point. Just as I said before the game in Cleveland, I'm glad this game is on the road. In fact, were it at home I'd be less confident. Crazy, right? Quote

Crazy, right?Look to me its not about whos better Dalton or Bruce, but this year was about seeing if the young QB could hold his own and be a player in the NFL. I know its probably just for one game, but what worries me is if Bruce looks good what will they do keep Bruce in or let Dalton be the starter again when he comes back??? Thats what im worried about, we know Bruce is not the future QB, but Dalton has the chance to be, and i thought he looked pretty freakin good in his first outing on the road, so i wanted to see him continue to get better this week.I agree this will be a running attack and i hope they do so 40 times, and use all 3 RBs. Either way im just hoping for a win, and hoping the o-line continues to grow as a group as well. Quote
