kingwilly
Fool, Peter Warrick was never the best player on this team. He was never even the best WR on this team. When he was the only playmaker on those godforsaken teams, yes he was. No reason to argue over that. Those years weren't really worth talking about anyway.LOL OMFG!Corey Dillon and Willie Anderson were exponentially better than Peter Warrick. In 2000, Warrick led the team in receptions but only because Darnay was hurt, and he was anything BUT a playmaker.2001 Darnay led the team in catches, and then 2002 Chad arrived, shuffling your "playmaker" to the #2 role.It is OK to be wrong, and you are. Simply admit it.

And Chad was on the team that year, but was just a rookie so you can't count him yet.EDIT: Yeah, Warrick averaged 9.6 yards per catch that year. EXPLOSIVE! HairOnFire
One play. Didn't happen. One play. Not this week. One play. Not last week. One play. Not for five weeks in a row.One play. In fact, not 6 times out of 8 so far.One play. And next week it'll be a different play they don't get. Not because they're cursed. And not because they're fans suck more than most. No, they won't get it because they're built stupid, they're poorly coached, and they play without discipline and poise. One play. One positive play is all Chad could manage. Just one. And I'll admit freely that by the time he made his one play I had somehow found it within myself to hate him even more than I had before. That's no easy task. One play. One more. One play. Jordan Shipley couldn't make one play...despite a perfectly thrown pass by Carson Palmer. Thus, all of the Bengals are losers this week, just as they were losers last week, the week before, and the week before that, too. Plus the week before that as well. It was Shipley's turn to make one play. Didn't happen. [Full circle]
HairOnFire
Me? I may be delusional according to some of you, but I could never predict a Bengals loss with seriousness. I think this team is going to win every game. Every year I look and say, "we should win this game and then probably this game..." and next thing you know, I'm thinking they could go 16-0. I just cannot bet against the Bengals. Thanks to the nifty timesaver above I was able to determine that not only is Ferocious Paws often wrong, but occasionally delusional. No shame in that, I guess. But by the same token it's hardly worthy of brag and bluster. That said, welcome aboard.Same reason I don't suck cock...I'm not a cocksucking faggot. Sorry, but around here we debate everything. However, I think we can both agree the topic of your personal cocksucking habits is worthy of it's own thread.
Sea Ray
Because they're the Bengals, that's reason enough to keep watching. My God, you wait and wait and wait for football season to start, anxiously grabbing onto any training camp meaningless fodder you can possibly find....and then you quit halfway into the season? If they can still play ball worthy of us giving up our Sundays remains to be seen. If you are willing to watch for reasons other than reaching the post season, that's up to you. Don't watch when they're losing and only watch when they're winning. Sounds like football Sunday isn't very special to you. Sounds like it has to be winning football Sunday. That's kinda sad. Even when Peter Warrick was our best player, I still watched every Sunday. I can't believe how many quitters there are. Find something better to do on your Sundays. Like rooting for the Giants or UK basketball.Call it a coping mechanism on my part. Being a Bengal fan I've been through this before and after awhile I started asking myself why am I doing this? Why go through the aggravation? For what it's worth I was at the game last night and I won't rule out watching some or all of the game vs the Colts this week but the worse this record gets, the easier it is to pull me away from the set. Sea Ray
Home slice. You do realize that if James Harrison doesn't make that hit, we're probably talking about a win here, right? And then everything changes from "this team sucks steamy cock and quit weeks ago" to "this team is on the right course, we're coming back, and take notice NFL!!!" right? One play.I agree with Hair in that the season ended before last night. It's always nice to beat the Steelers but they weren't going to the playoffs even if Shipley holds onto that pass
rwjcgc
Playoff talk? Delusional ---- Winning record? Marvin and Brown apologistAll I can say is that betting against the Bengals is helping my fantasy football league results. As a fan, I keep hoping (season after season) for some kind of improvement and maybe even seeing an elusive playoff victory after so many years of futility. As a realist, I don't see it in the cards with this bunch of individualists to have much success. They definitely don't deserve the title of Team. As written recently about other teams, there isa losing culture on this club. We have had a few brief peeks over the past decade at non-mediocrityand quickly got slapped back to reality. All I know is that all of this losing is slowly killing the fun of watching the team play. Apathycontinues to slowly set in.
OchoUno
JFC I need to tie one on. This thread is depressing the living s**t out of me. Speaking of "this game effectively ended our season", you realize if Shipley holds onto that pass, that most likely this would've ended the Steelers season as well?Something to think about while you make love to your womenfolk tonight. Im just not going to get excited anymore this year, that way if they continue to lose i wont get to upset, but if they would find a way to win some then i will just be suprised. No pressure now.Run the table? About as likely as 85 taking a vow of silence and moving to a Tibetan monastery.7-1? It would be like the Bengals to put on a big push and fall just short at the last minute. Sort of like last night. Still, probably not.6-2? Not completely beyond the pale. Nothing's gone their way this season and a reversion to the mean is overdue. Still a stretch.5-3? Another for the "just short" file as it would put them at 7-9. I could see that.4-4? Sounds about right to me. Bengals "recover" to about .500 in the second half. Guys have FA contracts & stuff to think about (hi, T.O.!). This is where Ive got my marker: 4-4 for a 6-10 finish.3-5? Sure. They catch a break someplace.2-6? Well, they've already done that so we know they can.1-7? 0-8? I think they've won too many already to finish with fewer than 4 wins. HairOnFire
I think most fans are too emotional to accurately appraise what they're seeing. Granted, there's no ignoring the final results, and a loss can't be spun into gold no matter how hard a diehard fan might try. Yet many of us are still either too biased or drunk to stop ourselves from seeing what we want to see during games, and then misleading ourselves about what it all means. For example, after the Steeler loss many fans attempted to comfort themselves by noting how 52 Bengal players showed no signs of quitting. And that conveniently ignores the one Bengal player who did quit as well as the way Chad's premeditated gutless behavior was nationally televised. The end result is the nation doesn't see a scrappy Bengal team refusing to give up despite incredible odds. Instead, the nation sees a selfish undisciplined team parading around in clown shoes.....fronted by a childish little bitch throwing a game long tantrum. The nations perception isn't wrong. Because until drastic changes are made that's who this team really is. We are defined by the clown shoes we wear. Bottom Line: The Bengals are a no-ring circus known best for it's ever growing cast of sad-faced clowns....and not only will this team lose to the Colts this week, but they'll probably lose to the now winless Bills the following week. The Pats game a week after Spygate and I think in a game against the Jags a few years back too. John Thornton recently suggested that Carson cannot fully take over the leadership position on the offense until Chad is gone. Time is up. He needs to go. Do not renew his option for next season. You gotta figure if a sure-fire Hall-of Famer (Randy Moss) can change teams twice in six weeks, then a wanna-be HoFer can be shown the door too. Also, I believe I will return to calling him by his real name of Chad Johnson. Every since he changed his name four years ago, his s**t has gotten more and more stupid. Maybe a reverse name change will straighten his ass out. volcom69
I just feel right now this team has no idea how to win a football game. They have no clue how to put toghter 4 quarters of good football. If they could just find a way to bring there A game for the entire game, maybe they could get that feeling of winning again, but its too late. HoosierCat
I just feel right now this team has no idea how to win a football game. Can we keep the melodrama to a minimum? (I know, talking about a team with Chad, it's tough.) Monday night's loss had nothing to do with not having an idea how to win a game and everything to do with a special teams meltdown of cosmic proportions. If teams don't turn the ball over four frikkin' times -- fumble, blocked punt, twice on downs on missed FGs -- we're all in Day 2 of our Stunning Upset Victory Celebration. How do you win football games, by not turning the ball over, by not hurting yourself while driving down the field or having a meltdown on the field. By actully blocking the person you are supposed to during a punt block, by catching the football, by running the right routes. All of these things i mentioned are how to win football games, and from what i have seen this team has not done this stuff very consistant this year. So i feel this is why the team has been losing.
