Bengals44
On paper we look fantastic offensively...but, until Carson can play without fear, we are not going to dominate at times the way we should! I really like the guy and have always been a big suppoter of him, but he is not the same guy (as far as a football player) that he was before he got hurt in that damn playoff game. He throws off of his backfoot waaaaaay too often and always seems to be scared of getting hit in a horrible way again. He needs to step forward on every throw that it is possible to do so in order to get both accuracy and power on his throws. He has to get over the psychology of "the injury" and go for it! My worry is that he never will and DAMN what a waste of talent that will be! Go Bengals!
kevnz
Well if his o-line could protect him maybe he could play better. FFS, it's not like we've played 2 cream puff defenses. If he's like at against the Browns or the Bills I would understand.
Stripes
I think Palmer was given decent time to throw today. The Ravens secondary played very well, surprisingly. Palmer's four throws into the endzone were all pretty bad though. He and Owens need to work a little extra on timing this week.
membengal
Not a good game from Palmer, at all. Still unconcerned. This looks like this against Carolina and Cleveland in the next few weeks, and I will be concerned. And, it's not like the Bengals have any other options at this point, either. HoosierCat
I think that Palmer spends too many plays trying to win the game all at once. Gannon pointed out a perfect example in today's game: Palmer took the snap and rolled right. TO is running along with him about 8 yards downfield. He's got a couple steps on the defender and if Palmer just tosses the ball to Owens it probably ends as a 10-15 yard pickup. But Palmer keeps looking downfield and looking downfield and looking downfield, and there's nothing. By the time he pitches it to TO, Owens is already out of bounds. DC_Bengals_Fan
I'd like to be able to play the O-line card, but he made some terrible throws when given time. Seems to be a pattern. I'm officially worried, as much as I can be after a win.
wpeldios
Color me unconcerned. We just beat a team that was a popular pick to make the super bowl. Was it our best game no. Did palmer dominate and win the game, no. Did Palmer do anything to lose the game, no. Was a bad game by him, but in your bad games you have to be sure you dont lose the gam for your team. He didnt. Stripes
I think his poor game today was a rather isolated incident. He has off games sometimes like anyone else, but I didn't see anything today that I've seen alarmingly frequently in recent games.

Beyond that, he played well in the San Diego game last year (week 15), and decently against the Chiefs a week later despite very limited yardage. The Jets made it essentially impossible for Palmer in the playoff game.I think that's all rather besides the point anyways. Watching him play individually; independent of defense, offensive line, or the running game; I think he looks mostly the same as he's always looked. He was off on the end zone throws today, but not in any manner I've seen often before.

cincy9275
when he sets his feet palmer is deadly. when he is back there dancing he is way off. despite the bad game, with the help of scott big return. i believe carson still gets credit for yet another 4th quarter come from behind win. That credit goes to the defense with the late INT. Palmer was junk all game long.
redsbengalsbucks
Palmer missed alot of passes today, he also missed alot of open targets trying to force the ball to a deeper option. He needs to be reminded that a 5 yard completion is better than a 20 yard incompletion/tipped pass.I get hoarse yelling about open dump off targets every Bengals game. It is time to start using Gresham, Benson, Scott and Shipley much more often on short dump routes. I would also like to see Brat try to stretch the field a few more times next week. I want the guy to succeed as much as anybody, but he has been pretty bad. He did play better in the 2nd half, but he was dreadful in the 1st. I guess if the D plays like they did today, he can be our Dilfer...
bwillycuse
Palmer is an average qb Atm until he proves me otherwise. His numbers put him smack in the middle. Its show me time this year and he missed quite afew out there today. It is what it is though. At least we are a run first team........rolls eyes

I've always found that assumption to be founded upon outermost observables rather than items directly within Palmer's control. Variables are constantly ignored.Typically when circumstance favors a productive passing game, Palmer does his part very efficiently (at least I think so). Today was an exception to the rule. volcom69
Palmer was pathetic today!!!! He was missing wide open recievers worst one was that wide open Chad in the endzone. How do you miss that. When he is in the pocket he looks nervous and i dont know if he is rushing his throws or what, but he needs to move up in the pocket or get out of the pocket. With that said Chad droped a big pass from Carson, TO dropped a touchdown pass from Palmer so not everything was Palmers fault today. The o-line gave Palmer time today, and he just holds on to the ball for way to long. I dont get the playcalling either, you have success passing it to Shipley and Greshem, so why stop throwing it to them. Who cares about batman and robin, if they are open then throw it there way, but if not dont force it to them.

I dont want some QB to be in the game not to lose it like some of these other QB, i want a QB who is going to take charge, and make big plays throughout the game. Is it so hard to want the 2005 Palmer back, i enjoyed watching what he did that year. If this team had that QB with the defense we saw today this team would be something great!
