Just watched live on MLB TV what a game

but as im new to all this and picking things up slowly how does chapman get the win even though he pitched 1 inning and cueto pitched 6

sorry if this is a dumbass question but us brits eh :P

He pitched his inning at the right time is all I can say.

It's not just you Brits. The pitcher's win/loss statistic in baseball is complete nonsense. Pay it no attention.

U K its kinda like if the starter goes out tied or behind and another pitcher comes in, if his team scores runs to go ahead he is the pitcher of record. . .

It's not just you Brits. The pitcher's win/loss statistic in baseball is complete nonsense. Pay it no attention.

Don't piss off the stat teacher, TDB! If you've ever taken a stat class, I can find a way to have your grade revoked! :P

:lol: Great reply! Also posted in probably the greatest Reds thread ever here at Bengalszone. The traffic in this topic has been incredible. Not as incredible as the way the Reds have been playing, but pretty damn close.

No matter, had I ever taken the class I'm sure I'd have completed none of the homework and finished with an F anyways. :lol:

Until I hear/see a good reason to consider W/L anything more than the least useful mainstream statistic for assessing a pitcher's worth, I'll continue to diss it constantly.

It's pretty cool to see. This old cadaver of a subforum getting so much traffic is odd but refreshing. When the Reds make the playoffs, it should only get better.
