A lot more positives, particularly on offense.Yup. Better protection for Palmer, better performance by the first team offense overall, even though they didn't score because of Rayner's miss. Looked like they went from lat week's crap to about where they were last season in the past week. Now it's a question of progressing over the next few games.D was its own worst enemy with penalties. That has to be cleaned up, but I think Zimmer will get that done. Not great pressure on the QB for the second time out, that looks like it will be a recurring theme this year. membengal
First team Offense got the first TD, Hoosier, the TD run from Benson was on a Carson drive.Billy, I am not concerned, myself, about Palmer throwing TDs. They moved the ball each of Carson's three drives, that was my baseline for comfort zone for tonite anyway.Again, Carson's numbers, 12 of 15 for 105 yards. And I was not aware of how many changes were made on the third drive. At any rate, it was all pretty positive from where I sit.Tebow just scores as time runs out. He was whacked pretty good though.Ends at Cincy 33 Denver 24.

Just not sure why that matters to you in the early pre-season games? Do you think he no longer can throw TD passes? The one time they were close, they chose to run it in, something I thought you were asking for...
combatbengal
I'm impressed with Shipley; he's going to be a stud. Gresham is an animal! Palmer Jr looked a lot better. Adam Jones is looking good! Scott is a running machine! I don't think Denver would have scored as much if it weren't for penalties! Who Dey. Really, the offense looks a bit ahead of where I expected it to be at this point. And it was nice tonight to see Stephens come on decently in relief of Cook and Gresham get involved in the passing game as well. The Carson-TO connection continues to solidify. Benson broke a big run. Chad didn't false start (and in fact the first-string O played pretty cleanly). In short, I see them making progress.More, please. Just not sure why that matters to you in the early pre-season games? Do you think he no longer can throw TD passes? Well I think/hope Carson can, but it would sure as s**t make me feel better to see him take the arsenal at his disposal, march it down field, and make the opposing defensive backfield look silly as he picked them apart. Just one time.
HoosierCat
Instant reax from Walker @ espn...CINCINNATI -- The Bengals played their second preseason game Sunday, defeating the Denver Broncos 33-24 at Paul Brown Stadium. Here are some of the good and the bad for Cincinnati: The Good Bengals starting quarterback Carson Palmer looked solid in his second preseason outing. The offense wasn’t perfect (we will get that later). But Palmer did his part by completing 12 of 15 passes for 105 yards. Palmer spread the ball around Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco, Jermaine Gresham and rookie Jordan Shipley. Palmer looked decisive and accurate Sunday."It was better than last week, and that’s what we're looking to do -- improve every week," Palmer said. "We got some points and more yards, but we've got to finish drives."Second-year tailback Bernard Scott continues to impress. He led Cincinnati with 113 total yards. Scott showed his blazing speed on a with two big plays -- a 48-yard run and a 46-yard reception -- to spark the Bengals’ offense. He is expected to provide insurance for Cincinnati starting tailback Cedric Benson. After a shaky start, the Bengals Dave Rayner may have taken the lead in Cincinnati's kicking competition against Mike Nugent. Rayner missed wide left on his first attempt off 44 yards. But Rayner made his next four field goals in his best performance to date. The Bad Bengals coach Marvin Lewis wasn't happy last week about his team's sloppy play, but untimely penalties continued. The Bengals had third-down penalties on defensive lineman Tank Johnson (roughing the passer) and cornerback Leon Hall (pass interference) that kept Denver’s scoring drives alive. The Broncos’ starters took advantage and jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Cincinnati has recorded 14 first-half penalties in two preseason games while starters and backups who probably will make the team were still in the game.Cincinnati's pass defense wasn't sharp against Denver. Broncos starting quarterback Kyle Orton performed well against the Bengals, completing 8 of 13 passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns. Orton also had plenty of time in the pocket, and Cincinnati’s pass rush has been a major point of emphasis for defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer in training camp. Orton had a passer rating of 119.9 in limited playing time.Despite Palmer’s solid numbers, Cincinnati’s first-team offense still needs to tighten up some things. It will take some time for all the new pieces to fit in. The Bengals had one extra preseason game, yet Denver's first-team defense held the Bengals' starters scoreless. A missed field goal and failed fourth-down conversion killed Cincinnati’s first two drives. Cincinnati's starting offense finally got its first points of the preseason -- a Cedric Benson 1-yard touchdown run -- in the second quarter against Denver's backups. Stripes
I'm freaking elated. A preseason game never means much win or lose, of course, but I saw what I wanted to see (in a gamecast box at least). The Bengals struggled primarily in areas which are either difficult to control (penalties) or are already viewed as a strength (pass defense). The new receivers were all impactful. Gresham and Shipley were great all night, including early in the game with Carson. The pass protection appears to have been better, though I can't say as much since I couldn't actually watch the game.
membengal
Just wait til you all on tape delay get a chance to see the game that Shipley and Gresham had. Eye-opening talent.
jjakq27
The guy who previously wallpapered the closet of AGreen's girlfriend just recovered a muffed punt after doing the long snapping. Bengals on the Denver 12.That young man would be local product Mike Windt from Cincinnati Elder and the University of Cincinnati. He was Kevin Huber's long snapper in college two seasons ago at UC and is battling Clark Harris for that spot here. Good hustle on the play certainly has to help his chances of making the team. volcom69
The pass defense sucked because Orton had all day to throw the ball. This now has to be the biggest weekness the pass rush. Is it me or is the d-line getting pushed around. I dont know what put into it because its preseason, but do not look physical like they did last year. This team needs to get a good pass rusher besides MJ who dosnt play every down. I would also like to see Atkins play agaisnt #1 o-line to see if he still gets that same push he does against back ups. They better figure this out if it truly is a problem, because they play some great QBs this year that will pick them apart. I was happy they got Shipley and Gresham involved and they both looked great. The o-line stepped up this week and played much better and gave Palmer time. All in all i was happy with the offense this week, but very disapointed in the defense. They played a team that dosnt have great offense weapons, but were still giving up the big plays. I just hope the pass rush is fixed someway.
Kazkal
Just finished the game<was out all day>-Young Guys impressed (shipley & Gresham)-Defense got screwed but Hall still messed up few times otherwise good-So looks like Fui may end up on PS again-I still think Roland is overrated when it comes to the Run...maybe it's just me but when ever I notice a run to the right side it's for 3 yards or less

This is just working out some kinks. They will be fine once the season starts, and by the 4th preseason game when the starters will actually play the entire 1st half, I think we'll all be impressed.
