I will be excited about this signing when i see what he can do in Sept. till then its just another signing. If he dosnt work then the passing game will suck again, but im hoping for the best.

I just saw the Ravens signed Mason back, so i wonder what he has left to give the ravens.

Bryant was the best option available and if he is healthy he will be a good upgrade opposite Chad.

I dont understand why any Bengal fan would be upset about this signing, a WR was needed and the best FA vet WR was signed.

Owens is 37 and Marshall would have cost a draft pick, Bryant was the best, cheapest option.

Because of some pathological need to bitch has infected this damned fanbase, as near as I can tell.

Ain't that the damned truth of the matter.

Actually, no. Look back over the last 3 pages. Who, exactly, is "bitching" about the signing?

Does every comment that doesn't consist of mad fapping over vids of Bryant now constitute "bitching"?

Not a vertical threat....the only thing Bryant is is a vertical threat.

I hope you're right. I just think a 4.57 40 yd dash time is underwhelming but I understand there's track speed and football speed.

I also recall last summer someone (I think it was on this site) arguing that Coles was a burner and was more of a threat than Chris Henry...

And instead of happiness, generally more bitching from this board. Unreal.

Perhaps you're overreacting to WhurChad's post...because unless I've forgotten someone he's the only guy who actually bitched about the signing. And lets face it....that guy bitches about everything except Chad.

To be fair I said I was underwhelmed, but I'm on record saying I couldn't bring myself to say I actually wanted any of the available options. Mostly because of the baggage they all brought, but also because I now find myself hating all wideouts in the same way that Deacon Jones hates all quarterbacks.

So again, the scorecard seems to read one hater, a couple of underwhelmed shoulder shruggers, and a half dozen posters saying Bryant was their favorite option all along.

Is that bitching?

It seems I'm unfamiliar with this fapping thing....Does it cause chafing? Is it good on a cracker?

Antonio Bryant is the best receiver to ever play football! I want to have his babies!!!! fapfapfap*.

*May cause chafing, hairy palms, or blindness. In rare cases priapism may result, seek immediate medical attention to prevent permanent damage to your unit. Avoid pictures of Katie Blackburn while fapping - graphic material related to Katie Blackburn viewed while fapping has been known to induce depression or thoughts of suicide. Do not fap in the company of other fappers, as the slowest fapper may be required to consume the fappage with a cracker that may turn soggy. If possible, avoid fapping by engaging in consensual intercourse - however, if you are a fat-assed QB with a titanium plate in your skull, make sure to secure consent prior to intercourse to avoid legal difficulties. For maximum effect, fapping should be engaged no more than twice a day to avoid side effects. Fapping may be more potent when combined with other medications, including lubricants and pornography.

He's good. He's an upgrade over Coles... so you can't complain too much about that. And given the options available, he was probably the safest most reliable bet.

That said... Bryant instead of Coles likely wouldn't have made much of a difference in that Jets playoff game, so there is still work to be done.

A step in the right direction, but nothing to "fap" about, I'd say.

DC wins the thread! :lmao:

This. What's so hard about acknowledging that?

btw, you will notice a curious lack of SUPER BOWLZ HERE WE COME posts in this thread as well, since hoosier has gone to painting with a broad brush. It was the right move, and it helps the team for 2010. They didn't cheap out, which I maintain for some of the "meh" crew is an issue, because that is a favorite theme for that group.

And, hell, for all we know, they may still get Owens, something I would be for, before I would advocate they burn a top draft pick on a s**t wide receiving draft class.

Before I answer, I feel obligated to add a disclaimer to all who'd decide not to actually judge my post sensibly: I'm not against this signing. It's easy to understand it.

Now, I'm just not convinced Antonio Bryant is really an upgrade over Coles. Chance alone allows us to hope that he's a better fit (and the yards per catch average he brings into town bolsters that hope), but I don't see much evidence that he's a better player. It's as good an option as the Bengals had in front of them, and the finances seem decent enough to warrant the risk.

With Coles, they made the playoffs. Bryant is certainly no worse than Coles was. And may very well be an improvement. I am betting that he is, in fact (three years younger than Coles and not a lot of wear on his tires, so to speak). So, at the least, the Bengals held serve with regard to what got them to the playoffs, and may very well have improved at that position. Makes a ton of sense to me, in all respects.

And, again, he was the best available FA wide receiver by most measures. Cool that the Bengals landed that. We usually write off their chances for the best at any position in free agency. And don't forget he was believed to be locked in for Miami, his hometown, and the Bengals pried him away.

Bryant is exactly what we need. He is fast, physical, and has grat hands. Very competitive.

That's actually the big question mark. Book on Bryant is that he is indeed competitive -- when he's playing for a contract. Once he gets paid, not so much. So we'll see.

But that said, I don't have a problem with the signing. Probably about the best we could hope for, given the Bengals' typical M.O.

I think Carson, Chad and Cedric will have a positive impact his effort.

Coles did not fail because of environment, he failed because his skills were diminished.
