I liked Dorsey as well and I will wish him luck, but the Browns ??

It's better than being unemployed.....I think.

I fear it may be a short term employment with that offense and his history. I can see it from DeDe's POV, but from the Browns? Wow.

He can help them. Jamal Lewis just doesn't have it anymore. I'm not even sure why he's still starting especially considering that he's said he's going to retire at the end of this year. They should be seeing what they've got in their other backs.

None of my comments have been intended to disparage DeDe. I think everyone on here has liked his ability. His durability, on the other hand, is highly in question. Is he going to be able to be the 20-30 carry per game guy? I see this as a way to limp through the last five games, but this should be addressed with a fair amount of priority in the draft.

Browns to sign DeDe Dorsey

Posted by Mike Florio on December 2, 2009 2:50 PM ET

With rumors flying that the Browns will place running back Jamal Lewis on injured reserve, a league source tells us that the Browns currently intend to make the move.

Thus, if Lewis makes good on a prior vow to retire after the season, his football days are over.

Per the source, the Browns will be signing DeDe Dorsey to replace Lewis.

Dorsey played for the UFL champion Las Vegas Locomotives, and he worked out for the Browns on Tuesday.

Dorsey previously spent two full seasons with the Bengals and one with the Colts. Cincinnati cut Dorsey after the 2009 regular-season opener, and he opted for the UFL in lieu of waiting for another NFL team to call.

Dorsey finished second in the UFL in rushing, with 369 yards. But he averaged a whopping 6.4 yards per carry. He also had 22 receptions for 130, and he scored six total touchdowns

I was probably DeDe's biggest fanboy in his time here, and I'm happy for him and wish him the best of luck in Cleveland. Hopefully he can play well and earn himself a little more money (hopefully somewhere else) next year. It's a rough situation there but I hope he tears it up.

Good guy.

Wished he didnt get injured so much

Glad he's earning an nfl salary and a chance to prove himself - hey, if he can run there, he has a chance to pick up a nice FA offer in march

My thinking as well. I hope he does well and can earn a bigger paycheck somewhere else next year. Good luck 3D!

Good for him but what a crap team to go work for.

I would have liked to see him go to an NFC contender who needed an RB...like say the Eagles or Atlanta.

Dorsey's still shopping. Cleveland not good enough for him?

Maybe he feels the obligatory Cleveland staph infection will only set him back further. Go DeDe, get on with a decent team and show everyone what you can do.

Well, ok, I can see that.

I liked the subtext in that article.

"OK, so the Browns are going to make me an offer. But PLEASE call me if you're another team who's in need of a RB. Christ, anything but the Browns. SAVE ME!!!!"

Maybe I'm just tired, but I laughed my ass for about 30 seconds after reading that

Thanks dude :-)

I was going to say, the browns? Surely there's another team out there that needs a decent RB who aren't as flat out crap as the Browns. Poor guy, the constant stream of injuries to him in the past are going to take a while to get over. Still, a nice pay day is a nice pay day and he'll instantly be one of the better players on the 53. Should see plenty of playing time.
