Cunningham and Preston starting their show at 12 on 105.7, Cunningham opens with this:

Perhaps we should admit two things off the top.

1. The Bengals are a very good football team.

2. Perhaps the Ravens are not.

Heh.

Cunningham with the line of the day when someone complained about the coaches via e-mail:

Unless Mattison (def coordinator) has drawn up the fall-down-in-coverage-when-the-receiver-makes-a-break play, this is on the players in very large measure.

Lot of heat going not just to Mattison today (which is where it has been for some weeks) but also to Harbaugh from some callers today.

Hokie, your pal Zinno joining Cunningham and Preston for the at the top of their show on 105.7 at noon.

Yeah, other than Zinno's comment that the Ravens "gave away the first game to the Bengals", all of the comments have been pretty realistic and humble. Even Preston is basically saying..."The Bengals are a better team."

My how things change. Remember in Sept when folks were singing the praises of GB and Balt?

The Ravens are going to struggle against any team that is proficient at throwing the football...which brings me to my next question. Can the Ravens beat the Steelers once? We really need them to but I'm not sure if they can now

Scott Garceau and Anita Marks now hitting the air on 105.7. Marks immediately dismissing the crying over the field goal kicking issues as being worthy of discussion.

She notes that the Ravens looked out of sorts from warm-ups. No spark.

Looking forward to the crying from Jerry Coleman on 1370 to come at 3:00.

Ah right, that explains it. Another game they've given us. Very generous these Ravens.

Hell if they're giving games away when our franchise must have been Santa's workshop at the North Pole during the 90's.

Ken Murray of the Baltimore Sun on to start the Coleman show, and unleashed these quotes (as close as I can get anyway):

Ravens are getting outcoached and outplayed. The shocking thing is the lack of focus.

It would be nice if they could tackle, stop a third down, or convert a third down.

Some Ravens were close to going though the motions as that game unfolded yesterday. Did not like their body language as the game unwound.

Terrell Suggs has not been a factor in any game so far. Holding out the last two camps has hurt and he is out of shape and can't play. Fat and out of shape, and the Ravens have done nothing to address that.

Strategically, emotionally, physically, Bengals beat the Ravens in every way possible.

The first part on outcoached and outplayed drew a "wow" from Ravens homer Coleman. He also finally admitted as the first hour wound down that it finally occurred to him at halftime yesterday that the Bengals were the better team...

Is that the same Jerry Coleman who used to manage the SD Padres? I'd think not since he'd have to be pretty old by now...

Ed still not able to tackle properly. He got away with at Miami as others covered up for him. He can still get the picks and the occasional big hit but man, another NFL player, including most of the stars of the league, who simply can't tackle worth a damn. I very much enjoyed watching him slap his hands like a teenage girl at Coles (I think it was Coles) as he broke free to convert on a 3rd down.

I thought he'd have another couple of yrs at the top but it looks like he's already on the downward slope of the hill.

Lapham coming up on the Jerry Coleman show on 1370.

Reality seems to have set in across the board on 1370 and 105.7, lots of "Bengals are just better" from callers and hosts.

Reality can be a bitch...

Lap ran a nice little victory lap on Coleman, going over all the ways the Bengals dominated the game.

I will sign out of updates with this summary after listening, off and on, to 12 hours of local Baltimore sportstalk today:

---Dawning realitzation and the beginnings of acceptance that the Bengals are the better team.

---Dawning realization that a Super Bowl appearance may not be a done deal for the Ravens after all (seriously, a good percentage of the locals figured they were on their way)

---Dawning realization that the geting to the playoffs for the Ravens will be a fight.

---Dawning realization that the Ravens roster has massive issues.

---A lot of callers wondering why the Ravens have gotten away from playing like the Bengals played yesterday and in the previous match-up. Wondering why the Bengals are team committed to the run and stopping the run. Wondering why the Ravens are not being physical. At some point, they will realize on defense, it is because they are getting old. On offense? That's a good question.

All in all, a remarkably satisfying day.

As for me, I didn't trash talk at all at work. I did, however, put out the front of the Sun sports section with its fullpage pic of four Bengals gang-tackling Leron McClain under the headline "MAULED" and let it do the talking for me.

Thanks to Hokie for starting this topic again, and hope it was a worth the reads. Perhaps Hokie will have more to add. All in all, delightful to be a Bengals fan in Baltimore today. Simply delightful.

Have a good one.

First, props to mem. Great work today.

Second, if I may add a coda from the Windy City, I heard the Bengals mentioned multiple times today as the local gabbers tried to come to grips with the bears getting shellacked for the second time in three games. The blowout loss to Arizona has forced them to admit that the Bengals game was not a fluke, and that the Bears do indeed appear to suck elephant balls.

But the tasty treat I heard driving home was when one of the afternoon saloon guys on espn 1000 mentioned Ced and his accomplishment in topping 100 yards twice against Baltimore. One of the other guys (there are 3) is a total Ced hater and he sounded like he was ready to blow at the mere mention of Benson. The exchange was, very roughly, something like this.

guy 1: "And you know who else had a big day? Cedric Benson. He --"

hater: "Yup." Very terse

guy 1: "-- who went over 100 yards against Baltimore for the second --"

hater "Yup." Even terser, if possible

guy1: "-- time this season. The last guy to do that was the Bus back in 97."

hater: (Terse, fast, now obviously p*ssed off) "Yup. Too bad he was a bust here."

Then the third guy chimed in with a comment of Jerry Angelo's from when they drafted him and changed the subject.
