Ward is a class act.

You do make some good points there and I understand where you're coming from, I really do. You must be refering to James Harrison's comments aobout injuring other players. I couldn't agree with you more on that point, what he said was truly classless and wreaks of a POS human being.

Exactly. Now ask yourself how you might have felt about Harrison's actions if you weren't aware of his words. You and I would have both very likely given him the benefit of doubt and assumed the opposing players injury was unavoidable. But now we know better. We now know Harrison's decision to target another players knees was a willfull act with the all too predictable life altering outcome being known of in advance. And the reason we know is because Harrison is not only capable of such acts....he thinks talking about injuring other players makes him sound like a tough guy. And so does Hines Ward. So knowing all of that to be true, it's hardly suprising how opposing fans respond to such statements and actions. In fact, I'd call it a normal reaction.

Now it's your turn. How about the massive hit one of your boys laid on Trent Green long after he was sliding to the ground?

Loved it. In fact, just thinking about it makes me smile. And there's no hypocrisy on display when I say that. Because it isn't the severity of a Hines Ward or James Harrison hit that bothers me. Rather, it's how often Steeler players are involved in hits that occur a half second late or just outside the margins of the rules. Well, that and the fact that they always have to talk about it afterwards as if deliberately injuring opposing players is just a normal way to win football games.

Oh, and one more thing. The NFL muckity mucks reviewed the hit on Green and determined that it was not only within the rules, but found Green to be responsible for his own injury due to his decision to slide late in an attempt to gain a 1st down.

You hate the Steelers and you like believing they're a dirty team, your long passionate post made that pretty evident.

True enough. I also think your teams history of championship football was built around steroid abuse on a level so great that it represented sanctioned cheating from the top of your franchise down to it's very base, but that's an argument for another day. All I'll add today is that I believe the Steelers are a franchise built around the core belief that if you're not cheating you're not doing everything you can to win, and that flawed value system shows itself time and time again as Steeler players lead with the crown of their helmets, target the knees of opposing players, etc.

I'll bow out of this thread now, I have no desire to get into a pissing contest with you. So, take your time and build up the nastiest retort you can, give the people a show!

Was I picking on you? Because if I was I simply hadn't noticed. In fact, I can honestly say I have no interest whatsoever in adding your black and yellow pelt to my already impressive collection. Rather, I was just giving you my honest opinion about why things seem a little ugly around here during Steeler week.

All things considered, you guys sorta bring the ugly with you, right?

Geathers was making a tackle to prevent a first down,He isn't known for dirty hits he wasn't going for hit he wasn't attempting to injure the player...No one wanted to see Trent Green actually get hurt... Everytime I see a player get injured vs the steelers it seems like the fans circle jerk over it.

Man, I dont know if I should go to the game on Sunday.

I HATE the Steelers soooooo much.

Even if the quote was taken out of context - the hit was cheap - the hit on Palmer was cheap.(they get no flags. We get a roughing call on the Tampa qb for sacking him nicely and lose the game.) Just seems like justice is never served.

These Steeler fans need to feel what we have felt. Get off their high horse and feel the pain of ridiculous losses.

They survive the Bettis fumble and the Ward fumble this year. Just way too much ball bouncing their way.

Steeler fan at my work comes to me complaining about calls in their game. I tell him to shut up and deal with whatever comes their way because the pendulum has swung on their side for way too long. Id like to see how they fare with Ben going down along with 10 other starters like we are used to.

Ugh - Sunday cant come fast enough.

You kids are so funny. Reading through your comments, you really do live In a different world.

I'm assuming the hit on Palmer you're referring to was in the last playoff game your team played in? (I can't tell, he's been hit si often...) If so, wow...you really either a) don't know football or B) didn't actually watch the game.

Stunning the baseless level of whining, bitterness and wishing injury on another player.

When Palmer went down, I hurt for you guys. When Rivers got hit (legally, I might add - rookie mistake not staying aware of your surroundings) I hurt for you guys. I don't like to see anyone physically injured.

But reading your posts here? I don't hurt for any of the Bengals fans that posted crap here. I hope you continue hurting on the inside. Your comments would never be made if the roles were reversed.

Good luck keeping us out of our home away from home tomorrow. I'd wish you good luck in the game as well, but there's only so much luck a teams allowed.

WOW. Play World of Warcraft much? Seriously. "Add your yadda yadda pelts to my yadda impressive collection."

Powerful & fantastic imagery harkening back to a much more savage time.

Also a time where "bengal" was a feared word, and your only defense was a good club.

Today, the imagery is comedic, and our "clubs" of choice are far more effective than the neanderthals. We have names for our clubs, too: Woodley, Harrison, Smith, Clark, Taylor, Polomalu, etc

And as far as "bringing the ugly," really? Every time we take a road trip up your way to our guesthouse we loan you for your 7 home games a year, the only "ugly" on display is the team play from your franchise.

Oh, lovable Bungles.

"Who dey think gonna beat dem Bungles, everybody dey!".

So can we use the same defense in Kimo V. Olhoeffens situation?

A man never fined by the NFL hits his former teammate, knocking him from the game, a man whose initial reaction is frantic signaling for medical help, a man who stands close by to see how Palmer is...dirty huh?

A play not fined by the NFL, a play not flagged, a "dirty player" (and the play itsel) defended not only by your head coach, but Carson Palmer himself?

You Bungles fans SERIOUSLY live in an alternate reality. No, really, you do.

Ahhh... Steeler week. There's really nothing like it.

And you can tell when Steeler fans actually respect the Bengals, because they come here to talk s**t. Where were they last year? Nowhere to be found. They had bigger fish to fry.

This year, they just lost in ugly fashion to a relatively weak team after watching the Bengals get an impressive win. So... they come here to stir s**t up. I love it!

By the way, you guys want to at least attempt to stay on topic? Name one Bengal who has been labelled a dirty player, gets fined regularly for dirty hits, or has the NFL change rules because of the dirty way they play the game. I can name at least 3 Steelers.

To be honest, we do now have Roy Williams on the team. He does have a rule made because of his penchant for horse-collar tackles.

There you go. True enough! Although, none of that occured while in a Bengals uniform... nor was it ever considered dirty. Dangerous? Sure... But certainly not in the same category as going for knees or leading with the helmet.

That said... Here's to hoping Roy horse-collars Ward so hard that one of his legs breaks off!

I just want some clean/big hits against the Stealers, like the ones from last week. Really liked Williams blowing the WR up in the middle and sending the ball flying out of his hands. Rey had a couple of nice hits last week also. They need to continue the physical play this week and finally play smash-mouth football in the division.

I have not seen multiple hits like that in a game from the Bengals since Fulcher retired.

Here's where I disagree. It seems obvious from the replay that Ward went high on Rivers when he did not need to and then gets up and celebrates it obnoxiously. Who does that?

My 2 favorite comments from Ward after the hit on Rivers:

"I don't complain when opposing defensive players try to knock my head off or hit me high" (something to that effect). No s**t a**hole, you have the ball. You're never going to be involved in a blindside hit.

"It says something that I can knock someone down who is 255 lbs...(blah, blah, blah)...he's the bigger guy" (something to that effect). Again, it's a blindside hit, he didn't see you coming. That's why it's a cheapshot. You can CHOOSE where you want to block him because he's not defending himself. You chose to hit him high and then AFTER making the hit and KNOWING he hit Rivers high...he celebrates. A**.

Yes he can be involved in a blindside hit. What happens when a reciever goes up to catch a ball? He is vulnerable to a hit he can't see coming from virtually any angle. When a WR has his eyes on the ball and gets hit, that's the same as a defensive player having his eyes on the ball carrier and getting hit.

When a WR gets lit up by a huge hit he couldn't protect himself from, people think it was a great hit and put it on highlight tapes. But when a WR crushes a defender who didn't expect it, people are shocked and think it's dirty. Defensive players do the same thing to WRs like Hines every week. Hines just says "ok, you want to take my head off? I'll do the same thing to you."

Thats ridiculous.

Every receiver should be expected to get popped when jumping up for a ball over the middle. Unless the ball is uncatchable and by him. Then they relax - and if they get hit..its a penalty.

A defender shouldn't be bracing for a hit when the play is over, or the play is behind him. There really isnt much room to debate whether if Wines is a cheap shot artist. The video from above pretty much solidifies it. And funny enough is the video is a tribute to Wards illegal hits.

(And now illegal picks - glad the refs are finally seeing those)

Oh - and i hope Hines gets hit harder every single week of the season. You dish it - you take it.

Congrats Hines on your 10000 yards receiving. Now you can look back and remember this game your whole life. Make sure the ball has a big L on it.

That blatant pick was pretty sad and than to see the Stealer goobers whining about it being a bad call. What kind of football have they been watching to think that is legal.

Two classic images of Hines Ward from the most recent Bengal vitory over the Steelers were both examples of Ward breaking the rules....without drawing a flag.

First, the block on Jonathan Joseph that Ward continued until both players were ten yards past the silelines. Props to Joseph for never backing down, and then winning the cockfight as both players broke from each other.

Second, the remarkably blatant yet uncalled headslap Ward delivered to Chris Crocker on a play that set up a Steeler score.

Fittingly, Ward ended the game as he started it, as a loser.

Nonsense. So a WR should always expect to have his bell rung every time he goes up for a pass or runs over the middle, but a defender shouldn't have to worry about any mean WRs that are smaller than they are hitting them back?

Like you said, you dish it, you take it. If Safeties and LBs can't deal with a little WR hitting them back the same way they hit WRs, that's their problem.

Give me some examples of Ward blocks that were after the play was over. Those are obviously penalties, and hits after the whistle are ALWAYS called, so I'm sure I'd remember them. Or "the play is behind him". Why shouldn't he be prepared to get hit? It's football. When there's a live ball, QBs are fair game, and lots of guys take full advantage of those opportunities to get a free hit on the QB. Again, why should it be any different for the guys on Defense? If you're on D, you should be tough. You should love to hit. If you can meet those 2 qualifications, you should also be able to handle a hit from a WR without bitching about it.

Must have been a re-run of the SB against Seattle.

Somewhere in all of the discussion, someone mentioned that Ward was popping off about " same old Bengals" during the course of the game. In defense of that comment, up until that point it looked like nothing changed. But it's crap like that that makes me dislike that guy even more.

They always seem to wonder what people mean my being cheap and dirty but those kind of reps follow guys like him for a reason. (See John Lynch, Rodney Harrison to name a couple).

I think it's funny that a steeler's fan asks to see evidence of hines hitting people after the whistle in a thread that was started based on a video that has him doing just that . . .

The difference between a WR getting hit when he's being thrown to and hines ward hunkering down and popping up underneath a guy's helmet with the top of his helmet is . . . wait for it . . . hines' hits are ILLEGAL. Now if hines was running in front of a RB and blew up a safety I'm all for it (assuming he didn't do the helmet trick he does ). That's football. But there can be no mistaking it -- when hines hits a player on the bottom of his helmet with the top of his helmet when that player is facing a different directions there are two desired outcomes:

1.) Hines feels tough because he hit someone who wasn't looking (which usually results in flailing on the part of the guy who got hit)

2.) Hines is trying to injure someone and take them out of the game

In the first case, ya know, I could punch Hines ward in the face when he's not looking and knock him out -- does that mean i'm tough? Yeah, exactly. Don't believe my view on the second? Well it came straight out of Hines' mouth: He thinks he either has to hit someone in the head or is forced to destroy their knee -- just so stupid.

Hines is a thug. I just hope the refs get off their knees during pitt games and start making Hines play by the rules.

Interesting, troll fan one got his ass kicked, and went crying back to his home board to retrieve more troll fans to defend the full blown dirty play of the Steelers. Textbook. And, boring.

You think I went looking for help? What are you 13? And I Got my ass kicked? I'm a troll? Again, that's just childish. Young fella', you are lost.

As for the rest of you, the ones who offer actual football conversation, rather than attacking someone they don't know, great game by the Bengals last week. Your boys hung in there and hung in there and Palmer lead an outstanding drive to win the game. No crying, no bad calls, no bulls**t. You won, we lost. Congrats. Looking forward to the rematch.
