Good show tonight. They're really pimping Tom Nelson. Funny how a guy with 4.38 speed who returns kicks (avg 15 yards per punt return last year) doesn't even show up in the draft magazines much less get drafted. Unfortunately this show makes it difficult for the Bengals to sneak him through waivers. Looks like his skills are impressing the coaches more than Cory Lynch.

Good to see the old Chad back

Shirley isn't lookin' too bad as a guard.

But our lack of Depth at CB and his Utility means possible he could latch on as 4th or 5th cornerback...

I thought they were a little hard on Andre Smith. The whole team seems to be busting the guys chops. I wish the Bengals wouldn't have drafted this guy. For both sides sake.

Why so we could have another guy holding out because Brown's don't wanna pay for the slot? How would us taking someone help the matter?

He was having a hard decision picking an agent, and dealing with the Browns you have to be slick. Keels isn't. He obviously was shrewd enough to dupe Smith. It's the blind leading the blind. That's what I meant.

"OchoCinco condoms... They catch everything your Johnson throws."

"Kiss da baby" is kind of like saying "The fat lady sang." Basically "It's over." When I score a TD, "Kiss da baby." When I'm running circles around you all day long, "Kiss da baby."

I'm loving chad's slogans... This guy is hilarious.

Rey Mauluga was my #1 pick. I've forgotten about Andre, I don't have enough faith in dumb dumb Katie or MB to make this happen any time soon. Rey is a beast. Zimmer was riding his ass though! He said to Rey, "I don't talk to injured players.." and later "How many games did you miss at USC your whole time there?" Rey answered "None." Zimmer then said "You didn't miss a game at college but you've ALREADY missed one here. As a matter of fact, you've missed more games than you've PLAYED!" I thought that was pretty rough, it's the NFL.

The rookie talent show was the funniest part of the show so far.. One guy was dressed like Chad and he went to knock on Roy Williams door as you hear Kelly rowland blaring from inside. They were making fun of their feminine side... The Andre act was hilarious. You have to see that guys. I really don't think Andre would take offense to it because it was all in good fun.. The rookies also roasted Dhani Jones. The samoans did a ritual dance that was cool.

Yeah that was a good one. I like Nelson, hope he gets a shot over Lynch, they have enough run support help in the secondary, they need speed and guys who can cover and play multiple spots on ST's. Get Nelson in earlier tonight and see what he can do. He made 3-4 plays vs the Pats 2nd and 3rd stringers.

Busting Smith's chops hopefully shames him into conceding some and getting to PBS, man they hazed him and he's not even there! :)

Glad they focused on Rey some, he was pretty impressive last Thursday, probably the only LB that stands out on this team right now, other than Rivers at times. I can't see Jeanty beating him out and it sounds like the coaches want Rey to start if he's healthy.

Palmer's ankle taking "several weeks" to heal is troublesome, he may not be 100% until week 2 or 3 at the earliest. Sick of him getting hurt.

Dorsey puking was odd, you can tell he's going all-out trying to make the team. I WAS surprised they had already penciled-in Scott as the #2 basically, based on what? What he did at the Div-II level and a few carries in preseason? I don't doubt he can be a good back, just want to see it, as I'd hate for them to lose the big play ability of Dorsey for a cement foot like Leonard, who is ok, but nothing special. I don't know what more Dorsey can do to impress them, with a sick 9.3 average so far, and continually making big plays out of nothing, just fun to watch. He should only be getting the ball 4-5 times a game any ways.

You can tell Anderson wants to keep 4 HB's, but said that's pretty doubtful. I've seen nothing about Leonard doubling as a FB to help that scenario.

How about staying healthy? That would probably impress them.

So what's up with SHirly,I thought they were gonna have him play guard? but he was playing tackle in the patriot game?

Did you see the initial punch he had? It was devastating. Hopefully this guy will turn out to be the next Brian Waters.

This was, by far, the most compelling story line of this show I thought. Interesting to watch the attempt to transform him and it's pretty clearly his only shot to stay with the club. It would be awesome if he can get there, even as a backup, with his combination of size and feet. RB's situation was also a bit of a surprise with the suggestion that it's Leonard vs. Dorsey with the assumption that Russell is making the squad. Wonder if that's accurate. As far as the Andre Smith thing, child please. What would you expect them to do to a first round holdout with so much material to work with (literally and figuratively)?

This was, by far, the most compelling story line of this show I thought.

I found it the least compelling, probably because it smacks of a waste of time. In fact, what I saw was Lewis confirming my earlier guess that the move was made soley because Shirley has "no chance" to make the team as a DT...and I don't see him sticking as an offensive lineman either. So for me it's just another example of the Bengals wasting time with a player who won't make the team.

The most compelling storyline for me involves the personalities of the members of the coaching and training staff. Marvin and Zimmer of course, but even the lesser known coaches and the medical staff have been impressive. For example, the scene where you see Fitzgerald talking to HIMSELF under his breath (...make every rep count...make every series count...) was one of the most remarkable moments from the show.

If you extend the "it smacks of" line of thought just a tiny bit further........picture for yourself the meeting where SoaG (the self-styled redeemer himself) suggested that DE Chris Harrington might be a good TE.

Now picture a strikingly similar meeting the very next day (not shown on HBO) where SoaG mentions that since Shirley is not going to make it as a DT, and I've already paid him a 20k bonus, maybe you employees of mine should get some use out of him as a OG? After all, I don't like to pay OGs any money, and this guy will be grateful to make NFL Minimum. Oh, and if you dont like that idea, let's make him a long snapper, since Brad St Louis's NFL min as a 12yr vet is a LOT higher than Shirley's

and then....imagine if there was no heaven, no hell below us, above us only skies.....

I prefer a simpler version where I don't have to imagine what events that didn't happen might have been like. So drop all of your noodling and picture an actual scene from last nights show where Brown asks something like..."We've got some guys who aren't playing for us. Should we cut them?"

Without any hesitation all of the coaches say yes, and we quickly morph into the scene where Jim "The Turk" Lippincott cuts a guy who only moments before was walking blissfully down the hallway.

That's what I would have done with Shirley....from the first moment it was determined he wouldn't make the team as a DT.

+1. I was encouraged by all the zero-tolerance for injury that was shown, from that to Marvin commenting about "needing some Charmin out here" to the "it's the NFL you aren't going to feel right" speech.
