combatbengal
What has the Bengal’s done to improve for next season. Let’s see, since the last game of the season, They;- haven’t hired a GM- haven’t expanded the scouting team- haven’t made any changes to the coaching or support staff- resigned Dan Coats- placed the franchise tag on Graham which says good bye to Houshmandzadeh’s - acquired punter Ryan Plackemeier on waivers Friday from the Washington Redskins.- Determined that Palmer won’t need surgery on his elbow.- ummm, that’s it, right?Looks like we’re off to a great start at fixing deficiencies and on our way to the play offs. I’m getting really excited. Are you?Oh, I forgot- The chin predicted that the Bengal’s would be in the playoffs this upcoming season. Can we start partying now? TJJackson
I really don't think Billy or Ox will be putting up any celebratory pictures of boobies on the basis of the summary written above.
JoePong
What has the Bengal’s done to improve for next season. Let’s see, since the last game of the season, They;- haven’t hired a GM - We already have a GM- haven’t expanded the scouting team - We don't need to. We already did that a while back. We had a great draft and picked up guys like benson, Crocker, B Johnson etc who had big impacts. Looks like talent evaluation is not a problem- haven’t made any changes to the coaching or support staff - That's a good thing.- resigned Dan Coats - So?- placed the franchise tag on Graham which says good bye to Houshmandzadeh’s - We keep the best kicker inour history and decide not to spend $10 million on a cancer who wants out Another positive- acquired punter Ryan Plackemeier on waivers Friday from the Washington Redskins. - Everyone keeps complaining we need competition for Larson- Determined that Palmer won’t need surgery on his elbow. - More great news!- ummm, that’s it, right? -Probably not. I'm sure there's a lot you don't know.Looks like we’re off to a great start at fixing deficiencies and on our way to the play offs. Very possibly I’m getting really excited. Are you?Oh, I forgot- The chin predicted that the Bengal’s would be in the playoffs this upcoming season. Can we start partying now?
HairOnFire
I’m getting really excited. Are you? Here's an idea. Walk away. Bail on 'em. Pick a frontrunner and never look back. Ever. There's no reason not to, right? So run along now.

Bearcat1975
You lead the way.The Bengals are like that crackhead cousin. Sure you WANT him to do well, but you know what will really happen in the end.I'd rather talk about the unlikely chance that he may turn it around, rather than the more likely scenario that he will "suck" again for his money. Pun intended.(I'm in the acceptance phase of being a Bengals fan, by the way. Some are in the denial stage (pong), others in the anger stage (h.o.f.). volcom69
Didnt even start free agency yet give them a chance to see what they do. I never get excited about free agency with this team, but no need to get upset yet lets wait and see.
Stripes
I can't envision being excited about the Bengals at this point. Just the word "Bengals" makes my lower lip droop stupidly. Drool leaks over the fat middle and the weight of my eyelids triples without warning.Maybe that'll improve by draft time.
Baraka
what waste of effort, this thread has no point so let me lead y'all "crackheads"if you were in charge of the cincinnati bengals how would you win given their current circumstance (the 2009 season)? i'll even wipe the drool. ArmyBengal
Once free agency has come and gone and the draft is over, THEN feel free to continue with the b*tches and moans. Oh yeah don't forget to remind everyone how bad of an owner Mike Brown is, because us fans ALWAYS forget that you know...
agreen_112
This defense is up and coming.. Their young, fast, and they hit hard. We added Zimmer last year. If we cut Bratkowski, he would be hard to replace. Palmer and Brat are on the same page. I would say to look at what Arizona did this year, but that would be cliche.. The Bengals have every bit of talent as Arizona. We add another LB and a decent corner to the mix (possibly a DT) and this squad has a TON of potential. Geathers, Odom, Peko, Sims, Rivers, B. Johnson/D.Jones/, Rey Malugua/D. Connor is a great front 7. Add Hall, Joseph, Chin, Crocker, White and this Defense is the best we've had in a loooong time. It's finally starting to come together. Combat, I see your frustration.. But you're about 2 months early with this post. If nothing happens during FA, I may feel the same as you. I think we will be aggressive in FA and I can't wait for the draft.
HAPPYJAQ
We effectively eliminated one of the two known cancers on the team and saved over 7 million in doing so.We retained one of the greatest kicker's in NFL history, with a good chance that we'll resign him long term (for the naysayers on tagging Shayne, look at the deals that Bironas and Lechler got).We resigned our current starting FB and key special teams player. We coached in the Senior Bowl, getting an up close look at many of the drafts top prospects. We haven't had any off-the-field incidents.I think the offseason is going as well as can be expected, up to this point.

And this time I'm not asking why you're still Bengal fans. Rather, why are you crapping all over this message board when there are so many alternative sites devoted strictly towards you specific negative needs?Ah yes, the old "love it or leave it" defense. You can choose to be angry. You can choose to be in denial. I root my Bengals on every Sunday, but I refuse to delude myself beyond the aforementioned willing suspension of disbelief on gamedays. If you choose differently, more power to you.I can empathize with your bored irritation though. I feel the same way every time someone calls TJ a cancer, or asks who will be the next big free agent we will sign. Fact is, I like watching pro football, and the Bengals are my home team. I will praise their good decisions, and bash their stupid decisions. If I come off as more negative than positive, consider that a testiment to the Bengals making far more stupid decisions than smart ones. As their track record indicates, year after mind numbing year.See, thats the point of blogs, or messageboards or forums or whatever you want to call them. To share opinions. If I am wrong here, I apologize, but it seems like your ideal Bengals forum would be go-bengals.com. The site owner there is about as big of a douchebag as I have ever read, and believe it or not he actually seems to be getting worse. But he is a Bengals fan still in the anger and denial stage so I think you two would hit it off right away. The counter-revolution needs you.Godspeed. But if you do indeed write the good with the bad then you're not the type of poster I was addressing my question towards. Rather, I'm asking the always negative Mike Brown bleating s**theals why they remain on this message board when new websites have sprouted who are devoted specifically towards their needs? For example, if you insist every Bengal related bit of fluff and news is first passed through a "Mike Brown Sucks" filter, well.....there's a website for that, right? Granted, it's a crappy worthless site that only seems to have 4 or 5 members, but an enterprising young prig could take over a board like that in a week. So why remain here? Or how about those of you who think your negativity is a weapon that will force change on the evil overlord? Why not add your mewling voice to the chorus of a**h***s at WDR? Why remain here? Why would you willingly rub shoulders with so many lemmings? Go. Seek out your own kind.

Bashing Mike Brown just for the sake of bashing Mike Brown is a pretty lame dead horse. But I do bash the guy a lot because he makes so many questionable decisions, so I assumed you meant me. Its not hard to find quotes here where I think he made the right call. Like with TJ and Shayne for example.
BengalszoneBilly
The Bengals have every bit of talent as Arizona.I know the Cardinals well and I'll beg to differ. Arizona's offensive line is better, which in turn makes Arizona's WR's and RB's better. Defenses seem pretty even to me though.

HairOnFire
The biggest difference in the two respective defenses? The Bengals biggest impact player on defense is out of the NFL due to character issues. Meanwhile, the Cardinals biggest impact player on defense has his own character issues but he's still playing and improving. Darnell Dockett. HairOnFire
So Hair, how do you think Arizona managed to keep their wayward player on the field while Cincinnati had little success? Was it a league issue, a front office issue, or did Dockett come to realize what he might be wasting long before the point Thurman did. I'd guess it comes down to a simple difference in personalities. And by that I mean there are character risks and then there are character risks. Guys who screw up in completely normal deviant ways or guys who go on a truly unique months long multi-state meltdown. But it is interesting how some teams thrive precisely because of the upgrades they receive from players who were known character risks. And it's not like the light went on immediately for Dockett, right? He's tubbed his toe more than once as I recall. But he hasn't melted down in truly spectacular fashion either, ala Thurman and Henry. So he stays on the field. All things considered I doubt very much Dockett's success or Henry and Thurman's failures have anything to do with their respective owners or coaches.
