BengalszoneBilly Posted February 2, 2009 Author Report Posted February 2, 2009 After a few stiff drinks I've finally come to terms with the Cardinals losing. To be honest it was far easier than when San Fran laid it on us in '88! Quote

ArmyBengal Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Yep, my Commander and First Sergeant are BOTH Steelers fans and am going to be hating it when they get here this morning. I just keep going back to them and giving them sh*t because one is from Oklahoma and the other from Nebraska and have never even been to Pittsburgh. Quote
COB Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Why was that last "fumble" not reviewed with 5 seconds to go? It was clearly an incomplete pass. I thought with less than 2 minutes to go all reviewable plays were to be reviewed. Why no review? Does the WWE review the call when some bimbo valet distracts the ref so her wrestler can apply the camel clutch or whatever? Hell no. Welcome to the WWNFL. The Patriots didn't tape that walk through before they played the Rams in the Super Bowl, and the Steelers didn't benefit from friendly calls in either the Super Bowl against the Seahawks or the Cards. ArmyBengal Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 I'm not half as upset by this win by the Steelers as I was at the one against the Seahawks. Big Ben had a good game and their defense did enough to win the game. The Cardinals made it a hell of a lot more interesting than I thought was even possible, but came up short. One play wasn't the difference in that game. Quote
Passepartout Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Congrats, to the Steeler Nation! For winning SBXLIII! Quote

The Cardinals made it a hell of a lot more interesting than I thought was even possible, but came up short.Thankfully this loss didn't hurt near as much as the Bengals losses in their Superbowls, but it still stung pretty bad. Take it from me when I tell you the true Cardinals fans I work with here in Arizona aren't down about the loss. They saw firsthand how their team crawled out of mediocrity, ands came within seconds of winning title. Look out NFC next season because the Cards WILL be a force! Quote
Dimster28 Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 steelers didnt win the game arizona blew it on thier own, one by int in end of 2nd qtr which hurt the most, other one is the last td by cardinals, why i say this is a mistake?, becz they didnt kill time at all, if it was me who catch that ball i wouldnt run all way for td but go down maybe 30 yards before td, so we can kill time, so steelers have no chance, in fact i bet i am only one who support cardianls who yell no no no no when he run all way to td becz i know it will cause az to lost Quote

I was thinking, maybe he'll run out at the 1, they can do a couple kneel downs to run the clock then punch it in. I know that kind of thinking is crazy, but everyone had to feel that was too much time to leave the Steelers. And Billy on your other point, how true about the Cardinals. They look really strong, they'll rule the west for a few years it looks like. Quote

They look really strong, they'll rule the west for a few years it looks like.COB they jelled at the right time, and played a great game in Tampa. IMHO it's continuance depends on if Kurt Warner returns to the team next season. Sooner or later Matt Lienart will take the reigns of the Cards, and who knows how that will play out? Quote
ArmyBengal Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 That's what I was thinking as well Billy. It all depends on how they handle Warner and if Lienart gets tapped for the starting position. The Boldin situation is still hanging there as well... Quote

It all depends on how they handle Warner and if Lienart gets tapped for the starting position. The Boldin situation is still hanging there as well...I agree the Boldin situation is a biggie for the Cards. He and Fitzgerald make a potent one-two combo, much like Fredo-TJ in 2005. Without him, the Cards have to shore up that running game to make up for the loss, whether it's getting one big play maker (sorry, Edge isn't it anymore) or a real good second back to give them a potent one-two punch. You know what would be ideal? If SD is serious about cutting ties with LT, I think he'd do real well against the weak division. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted February 8, 2009 Author Report Posted February 8, 2009 I agree the Boldin situation is a biggie for the Cards.Kurt Warner realizes this:Warner ready to be peacemaker between Cardinals, Boldin Cardinals QB Kurt Warner, who is considering retirement, says he wants to help receiver Anquan Boldin settle his contract dispute with the team. "I want to come back and I want to have the pieces in place to have the same success we had this year," Warner said. "And if that's not there then that option weighs into my decision as we go forward." By Jim Corbett, USA TODAYHONOLULU — Kurt Warner says there are times where he "leans both ways," in his debate between whether to return to the Arizona Cardinals next season or retire at age 37.But one indicator that he may be leaning toward a return to the team he led to within two minutes and 37 seconds of a Super Bowl XLIII championship is that Warner hopes to play the peace broker between wideout Anquan Boldin and management. Boldin said last week there's an irreparable rift with the organization over his contract situation and he mistrusts the Cardinals because he contends his contract, with two years remaining, was supposed to be re-done last offseason."I'm going to do everything I can," Warner said before Saturday's NFC Pro Bowl practice, "both from the standpoint of approaching Q (Boldin) and the organization because if we're going to do what we want to do we need Q back."I want to come back and I want to have the pieces in place to have the same success we had this year. And if that's not there then that option weighs into my decision as we go forward."Everybody wants Q back ... I want to put all the pieces in place for me to make the best decision moving forward"It hasn't been a good week for the Cardinals since they lost the Super Bowl 27-23 last Sunday on Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's 8-play, 78-yard scoring drive capped by Santonio Holmes' 6-yard toe-tapping touchdown catch.Boldin made his comments Thursday, the day before offensive coordinator Todd Haley was named Kansas City Chiefs head coach."I think Todd's going to do a good job," Warner says. "He's earned the opportunity."Warner believes Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt will step into the void and handle the play-calling for the short term."I think Kenny will be more involved again for the short term, I would guess with calling plays," Warner says. "I really don't know. I haven't had a chance to talk to him since it all went down."Warner said the organization might elevate assistant head coach/offensive line coach Russ Grimm or could look outside for a new coordinator."Everything impacts me," Warner says. "I'm definitely making sure I'm comfortable with everything we do moving forward. The more factors that become involved I have to make sure it's a good situation for me going forward."I can't imagine we're going to change a lot of what we do or the approach we take to the offense."Warner said he, his wife, Brenda, and their seven children will take a couple of extra days of vacation in Hawaii after Sunday's Pro Bowl."I still don't know, I really don't," Warner says of his future. "Part of it is the Super Bowl was just five days ago. I've got to get away from the game and just get my body healthy to where I can legitimately weigh everything. The sooner the better, Warner says, but he doesn't have a time frame for making the decision."I have to get away," Warner says. "I don't want certain things to make me make a rash decision. Obviously, I don't want to prolong the thing. I want to know and I want the organization to know."When I know, everybody else will know at that moment. Until then, I don't know." Quote
