ShulaSteakhouse Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Oh well, he had a DUI (which was dropped) and was charged for the drunken boating incident.Dorsey goes to IR.I"m not going to bang on them for this, Benson was decent for Chicago when healthy.Saw that Rudi got the starting nod for Detroit this week coincidentally. ShulaSteakhouse Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 One word: YESNot on Bengals.com yet - C. Trent has the story on his Blog at lotd.com I believe. Lance was talking about it earlier. Quote
Ickey44 Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 I'm sure they're are plenty of RB's out there with no criminal history. Why Benson? Quote
Ox Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Wow. I don't know what to say anymore. Quote
Spor_tees Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Maybe they will run the wingback set like Miami did with Ronnie Brown...then they won't even need Carson...or any QB for that matter. I say bring back the Wingbone option! Oh...the Bengals only have 2 haelthy RB's...they couldn't even do that. Why are all the Bengals runningbacks so fragile? Do the trainers give them crystal lite instead of gatorade? Man I knew Mike Brown was cheap but... Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Shrug. The DUI/BUI charges against Benson looked bogus from the start, and obviously they were. But they gave the Bears an excuse. Benson's release was really about nonperformance. His numbers were decent, but he was a No. 4 overall pick, so he got labeled a bust. Plus there were stories that he was soft, didn't get along with his team mates, yadda yadda yadda. Could end up being a good signing. Quote
Thurmanation Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Great pickup, finnally this organization is signing FA's that aren't fckin terrible Quote
walzav29 Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 This is hilarious. Doesn't anyone remember the offseason character talk? They cut Willie Anderson and sign Henry and Benson. The joke just keeps getting better. This will be a fun 0-5. Quote
Defender Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 How many people were complaining about not having Rudi Johnson this season? I'm not saying I'm a fan of him or the signing, but Benson should be the bowling ball compliment to Chris Perry's scat-back abilities (Benson and Rudi are the same size, 5'10" or 5"11" and 220-225). Obviously it's all predicated on the O line doing a half-way decent job at run blocking, which will be the make-or-break factor. The Bears never really had a stellar O line for Benson to run behind so this is probably a moot point. Quote

volcom69 Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Not sure what to think on this yet i guess will see lets hope he is sobber when running the ball or he might be like Chris Perry and run into lineman and fall in the back field and then fumble every game, either way are running game SUCKS and until it gets better the offense will SUCK Quote
Horsemen Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Sadly...http://forums.bengalszone.com/index.php?s=...st&p=246714I was right about Benson. Trust me i'm NOT happy to be proven right, but here we go with the M. Lewis halfway house again. Quote
volcom69 Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Can he play center for us can he.... can he please. Quote
Horsemen Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 How long before he and Henry are busted together breaking the law? Hopefully they don't drag anyone else down with them. Quote
Stripes Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 I expect this signing to be rather irrelevant long term. He might stick around, but never as a starter. Quote
Pidge Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Holy hell. What's his average rushing yards? 2 yars or something? Meh, maybe he'll do well behind our dominant O-line. Quote
derekshank Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Marvin Lewis talking to Mike Brown instead Harry talking to Lloyd: Just when I thought you couldn't get any dumber, you go and do something like this... and totally redeem yourself! Quote

He blew up that first week and has slipped off ever since kind of like Kevin Smith. Benson averaged 4.1 his first 2 seasons and did horrible last year because the whole bears squad was terrible. I'm not saying Benson is a super star but Forte isn't doing much better even though the whole Bears squad is better this year Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 Great pickup, finnally this organization is signing FA's that aren't fckin terribleNice standards. The Bengals' are just signing cast-offs and back-ups and expecting them to play big roles on their squad instead...woo (Dexter Jackson, Utecht, Odom, Brandon Johnson, Blackstock, et al...,). No one plays through injuries on this team because they just want to get out. Just look at Tennessee's defense minus Odom - they're 4-0 and their D is killling people. Yeah he was worth $8 million, woo hoo. If Benson works out, great, I don't think he'll do squat behind this o-line, but whatever, they needed a body and hopefully he's sobered up by now. Quote
Jet23 Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 C Benson huh? Rashaan Salaam must have caller ID... Quote
ArmyBengal Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Don't know what to think about this. Then again, I try not to figure out anything about the Bengals anymore it hurts to much...NO MORE WHODEY !!! Quote
