Why not throw Simpson in at 3rd receiver?

the reason is because they are stupid.

Actually, the reason is that he isn't anywhere near ready. Carson had a comment on him today:

Palmer said he likes rookie wide receiver Jerome Simpson's skills, "but until he proves he can go out and be perfect wth assignments, blocking, and line up in the right spot and always run the right route ... once that part of his game comes along, he can be a very effective player for us but it's still going to be a slow process."

This is what you get when you take a small-school guy: an even steeper learning curve.

So, that "Chad Johnson" fellow they start at WR is already (given these comments) capable of "be perfect wth assignments, blocking, and line up in the right spot and always run the right route"?

Touche! That's exactly right.

so, how is that diferent than the other ding-dong's playing on the offense? Perfet? If they held them all to that standard, there might be 4, 5 guys on the field. Using words like "perfect" and "always" is just silly.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see more of the youngsters in Simpson, Sims, and Shirley. That being said, I can't really see him making any difference in the play of the offense. The o-line play has to continue to improve, the running game has to be better than it has, and our two current pro bowl WR's can't get sh*t. What makes anyone think a #3 WR without any game time experience is going to somehow turn things around for this offense ?? Once again, I would love to see the youngsters get some time, but won't complain about them being the difference makers we are missing...

WHODEY !!!

If I may, let me repel way down into Mike Brown's brain.

"I'm finding that during the draft he thought he would send a message to TJ and Chad that I don't need those ingrates. I'll show em by drafting a stud farm boy with great big flipper hands and a polished receiver in that other SEC kid. Then next year let trade me that Chad prick when he mouths off on me. "

Anyway, Caldwell and Simpson were drafted for 2009, IMHO.

I'm sure there's all kinds of things they could do with the kid, just remember who's running the offense though. Bratkowski is a tool.

I think were the only team to not have our second round pick playing at all/making an impact.

One of the local talk guys commented yesterday that Simpson was projected as a project for 2008 and had more upside than another guy whose name escapes me that is playing right now for another NFL team. My problem with "upside" is that these guys never seem to be her long enough for us to reap those rewards. I want guys that can step in and play some right away.

shirley, simpson and sims why not play them? it's not like we are asking for them to start. try to get them out there for 5-10 plays a piece is not going to hurt this team anymore than it is hurting now. then there is no better way to get experience then playing in a game. how are you going to know what they can do if you don't put them out there to see?

B/c the coaches think it's funny when every pass to Chatman misses him by 5 yards?

In my face. Nice to see Chatman make a difference.

He stepped up BIG time. Maybe the amount of snaps he's seeing is helping.
