White Fined for Hit

$7,500 for that KO that took out Martin.

The league said White “struck his opponent in the chest area with his helmet,” though Martin said he was hit squarely in the jaw with “probably the best shot I’ve ever taken.”

“I got blasted in my jaw and was out,” Martin said on Wednesday. “That happens. It’s football. Everyone’s running around there trying to hit each other and hit each other hard, and the guy got me.”

I agree, but the way White was flying around out there, I was thinking during the game that I wouldn't be surprised if the league slapped a fine on him just to send a message to chill a bit. And frankly, White needs to do less hitting and more tackling anyhow.

But I'll admit it's music to my ears to hear a player from another team say a hit a Bengal laid on them was "probably the best shot I've ever taken."

White doesn't make all that much - the Bengals organization should pay (assuming the appeal is lost) that fine - and thereby earn themselves some points with the players as well

"we support aggressive play" should be the message sent - no words, just action

Excellent idea. The high road is a good road.

doesn't shy away from big hits.

If

isn't afraid to go up and throw his body into Stephen Jackson... a fine isn't going to stop him.

His violent style of play is the reason he made it in the NFL. He's not going to shy away from it because of a small fine. It's part of his job. He just needs to watch the use of his helmet and he'll be fine.

I'm sure Marvin Lewis is going to thank him though. Even though he took a fine, he sent a message to WR's around the league. If you come across the middle when I'm here - you might not walk off the field. That's exactly what this defense needs.

I just hope this dosnt make him scared to hit anyone anymore i would love to watch him jar the ball loose thats great. Lets just hope hes not scared of getting fined everytime he hits.

I think that happenned to Madieu early his rookie year, which made him more tentative.
