kentjett
I'm not a Mike Brown fan but you have to give him some props for how he handled the Chad situation and the whole offseason. He called his bluff and it seems like he is back on board w/ the team. He made a huge and underrated move by firing Chuck and hiring Zimmer. Zimmer seems like he has the whole attitude of the defense switched around. He tried to make a splash by signing Rogers but got screwed by a glitch (At least he tried). I mention seems quite a bit because it is early but I'm pretty optimistic after the first mini camps. Mike has been actually spending money. He re-upped Peko this year, Geathers last year, Levi and Chad the year before and hopefully Whitworth/Andrews next year.

However, I will detante with 85 IF he plays hard and keeps Mr. Hyde repressed. I hope it ultimately happens, but 85 is 85 and we all know he can't keep his mouth shut for 16 games plus a bye week. That is why I have his picture, along with Marvin, Chuck Bresnahan, and Bratowski, in my Avatar (and don't tell me those puppets don't look like the aforementioned persons). ArmyBengal
After Chad turned his back on the fans of Cincinnati and has yet to apologize to a fanbase that would have killed for him, I still have three words... F*CK YOU CHAD!!!If what he does makes the team better, GREAT, but he's an idiot that will never get this fans support again.WHODEY !!! I took my son to get 85's autobiography at a bookstore signing in Norwood. After 85 gets there, he announces to the crowd that he is hungry and asks who is willing to make a McDonald's run for him. A couple hundred people go nuts. 85 select two giddy little teenage girls to go get his McD's fix.I'll detante with him...until he screws up, and he will. My support? Not a chance. I'm with you. derekshank
He's a jerk. He's been that way his entire time in the league. I started noticing it more in the '05 season... and since that locker room incident in the playoffs he's made me a little nervous. Last year he was a huge baby... and this offseason only further makes me distance myself from anything Chad. We need more Palmer and Housh. The less I hear about Chad the better. He's a bitch with some sort of serious mental deficiency. I hope he plays well for the Bengals. I hope he makes them better. But I still rather have had a couple first round picks and have him be the Cowboy's or Redskin's problem.
agreen_112
I can't be mad at him for "wanting to go to a winner" and being annoyed with the "losing." I'm annoyed with 20 years of losing. I figured this was the root of the problem all along. Chad must've came to mini-camp and seen this young talented D flying around out there. There is a lot of potential for our defense to finish at least mid pack... If the defense improves, the Bengals are a top contending team.Chad and Palmer can shatter 1400 yards. I think they can get up to 1600-1800 yards in a season if they are spot on... Whoever said yards are over rated you're out of your skull. Yards are what moves the chain. .. Welcome back Chad. We still love ya!

There is a lot of potential for our defense to finish at least mid pack... If the defense improves, the Bengals are a top contending team.I can. How about a little loyalty? You say you want the be a Bengal for life when you come here and that you want to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem? Wanting to go to a winner IS the problem because that means you don't want to make the team you're on a winner. Willie Anderson has been with the Bengals twice as long as Chad and hadn't come close to pulling the same crap Chad pulled this year. If anyone would have even the most remote argument for being frustrated with the losing, it's #71 and he'd never come close to doing what Chad did.And BTW, every defense looks good in underwear football! Check back over the last two years of articles during minicamp and try to find one indicative of the defense turning out how it did that year. They all view the defense through rose-tinted glasses and so far this year looks no different. I'll believe an improved defense when I see it on a consistent basis.Chad and Palmer can shatter 1400 yards. I think they can get up to 1600-1800 yards in a season if they are spot on... Whoever said yards are over rated you're out of your skull. Yards are what moves the chain.Chad "moved the chain" more last year than he had in the previous six seasons, and how did that turn out for him? He described himself as being "horrible" last year. How about the team? They had the first losing season in five years and severely underachieved. The point is that you can "move the chains" all day long for 16 sundays in a row, but that's all you'll be playing because you won't be suiting up in January by doing that. Scoring points wins games (Chad didn't do that very well last year) and defense wins championships.

Comparing Chad to Willie is not a good comparison. Chad's 100 x's more emotional than Willie and he is not affraid to be outspoken (which we've seen bite him in the ass). Willie is rare, you just don't find guys as classy as he today in the NFL. Otherwise, I agree with about everything you said. Yards are just about as important as TD's though. HoosierCat
Speaking just for myself, as long as Chad shows up and plays and isn't a distraction (at least, no more than usual) in September, I could care less about what he said back in February or March. BengalByTheBay
I hope the other wuss owners in this league are getting the way to handle the Drew Rosenhaus playbook is to ignore the interviews and treat the player like he's coming to camp. That seems to be the way it plays out. Take the bat out of his hand.
DC_Bengals_Fan
There's no way in hell he goes through this season without being a distraction. No way, no how.I'd still have rather done a deal to exile him to Washington, not least of which because Redskins training camp is about 10 miles from my house and I could heckle his dumb ass. membengal
Nothing too terribly surprising about any of this. When the toddler's tantrum runs its course, they are then able to accept what they are required to do and life goes on. The key remains, not over-reacting to the toddler's tantrums, thereby giving them the attention they seek...
