This thread is intended to track what's up with Odell since his release from the Bengals. It's arguable that the thread should be in the NFL forum rather than in he Bengals forum, but he was a Bengal for a while and the interest in following is entirely due to his time as a Bengal

I know all you Thurman supporters out there know all about the many visits/workouts he had had with other teams since becoming a free agent over 10 days ago now....plenty of time for him to visit with a LEAST a half dozen of the teams clamoring to sign him

So....what's the scoop?

I'm thinking, he wasn't, he isn't, and who knows if he ever will be. Haven't heard of one workout since the cut. Surprising since so many thought he'd be snatched up like that.

C'mon now, there are plenty of Odell supporters here who will point out to you that Odell had been cleared to work out in Bengal facilities months ago, so he has plenty of time to get himself into basic football-playing shape.

C'mon now folks, we've heard many times about how Odell is a dynamic playmaker, one of the best in the NFL, and how some hope he will pop Carson in the jaw.

So I eagerly await the news of all the visits and/or his signing, so we know what team we'll play when we face Odell again - this season, of course.

I guess the folks who have been following this news haven't been able to log in yet today. They'll probably log on tonight and give us the list of all the teams lining up to sign him.

Well, he's been available for ten full days now, so he'd surely have been to at least a half dozen visits by now, and god (and his harried agents) only knows how many are lined up by all the teams who are frothing at the mouth to gain his services.

You and I could probably fly our entire family to a vacation spot just on his frequent flier miles alone

It'll probably come down to who will pony up for the biggest signing bonus, with those unwilling to quite get into 8 figures on the outside looking in.

Well some of us have jobs that don't involve us sitting infront of a computer all day TJ, i don't really understand the reason for starting a post completely based on sarcasm alone, this would have been much funnier had you made this say 6 months from now. Yes im probably one of the biggest OT supporters and still am and no i haven't heard of any signings and yes i cant wait for Odell to play against us so i can root him on, but it has only been 10 days so i wouldn't expect to hear anything, the guy wasn't exactly Urlacher when they cut him, and he also hasn't played in 2 years.

In your next life try keeping this topic off the board cause if he gets signed in the next month you look like TJ Jackass.

Alright, boys, keep it civil. In all honesty, I hope Odell gets in shape, gets his life together and gets another job. I'm not rooting against the guy. I'm just going to reserve my optimism. I don't think he plays in 2008. If he doesn't, his chances of coming back get slimmer every year after that.

Why do all these Thurman posts seem to eventually go astray?

Frankly, I think that's because Thurman is much more polarizing than Chris Henry. Henry, while a decent receiver, was a screw up and everyone agreed on that. No one batted an eye nor defended Henry when he got cut.

Thurman, on the other hand, had a lot of potential and we all thought he was going to come back this year and get his shot. In fact, most of us thought any chance of a defensive resurrection rested on him. When he was cut, all hope vanished. His release wasn't as clear cut as to the reasons. Some agreed with it; some did not. When that happens on this board, it gets personal very quick.

Frankly, we are all, presumedly, Bengals fans, hence why we are here. Times are very frustrating so we tend to vent on each other because we can't vent on SOP or the team. I don't oppose the childish comments as a release, but we all need to just take them as they are--a vent.

As to Thurman, I still believe we made a mistake, and I won't change my opinion about that. However, I'm not going to get drawn into that argument again. I just wish as Bengals fans we could save the animosity for people who deserve it, like Browns and Steelers fans.....

Actually, you will change your opinion if he never plays another NFL game, or gets signed and sucks. Just us those that think it wasn't a mistake will change their opinions when he produces, wins a Super Bowl, or goes to Canton.

Bottom line is, the future will be what it is. You don't think we should even allow the Thurman posts anymore? Don't freaking respond. It's amazing how everyone feels compelled to respond to everything on this board.

Not at all, we're tracking the progress of Odell's pro-bowl-to-be career here

In any case, taking your supposition as truth for purposes of the argument, some posters here have been permitted to post advocations of violence against women - not just once, but several times. The content of this thread (even if your supposition is correct) is far less inappropriate than that.

Come on. NE must be sniffing around now. He's really hard working and dedicated and was shafted by the Bengals. NE's LB core is still pretty old. They could use a young, talented guy with a winning mentality like Odell.

On a semi-serious note - I did actually think the Cowboys would have had him in for a workout. Seems like a perfect off season aquisition for them.
