combatbengal
This win did nothing but hurt us in the draft. Do I want the Bengals to lose? No, but our season is over and now is the time to rebuild (We've heard this before). As it looks right now and this is without all the trades.Draft selection#1 Miami#2-4 would go to the Jets, Falcons and Rams#5-7 go to Raiders, Ravens and Chiefs#8 gos to the 49ers#9-12 go to the Bengals, Broncos, Bears, and Panthers. The luck that we have, I'd say we would pick at the 12th selection. So this win probably lost us 4-5 spots. We beat the Clowns and now they may not go to the playoffs. Big deal, they beat us at the beginning of the season. So, to me, this win was nothing. casbengal
It saved me from losing a $20 bet, so it was something. There be a damn good football player at #12 too.
agreen_112
I disagree. This win did a lot for the Bengals. #1 Helps end the season on a high note.#2 Ndukwe and White played pretty good and got some really good on-the-job-training. #3 there are others but I don't feel like writing, lol. Pidge
#2 Ndukwe and White played pretty good and got some really good on-the-job-training.Very good point. Maybe some mild hope for our secondary in the medium term if they continue to improve. Ndukwe especially found himself in the right place at the right time (a valuable skill in itself) yesterday. F.Cleveland
I completely disagree! I was at the game yesterday and I can personally attest that giving us the opportunity yell at turds is the best thing they have done in a long time. Sweet Sweet victory! It'll probably take at least a week to clean up 71 after they slithered their way home. Now... let's all cheer for the Colts to play Sorgi and let Vince Young get his first playoff game. HoosierCat
Bengals had the 9th pick going into the game and I believe own the strength of sked tiebreaker versus Denver, Chicago and Carolina. So they should still have the 9th pick.
Bobcat Bengal
Nah, it did nothing at all.........................Other than boost the team's morale and confidence. I'll take that. Shutting the door on Cleveland's playoff run more than makes up for me.Did you really want the Browns to celebrate returning to the playoffs at PBS?What do you want them to do? Blow the last two games of the year? That might not get them anywhere in the draft.

So, to me, this win was nothing. If we end up tied with the Broncos, Bears and/or Panthers -- we will draft ahead of them in the 1st round, because we have played a weaker schedule than any of them. That would be the 9th pick in your example. However, if we end up tied with Arizona -- they we draft ahead of us.

That's not cool..Welcome to Bengal Fan Psychology 101. In which we hate to lose because that shows we suck. And we hate to win too because that shows we suck. OK, if we could teleport the '85 Bears to present day, then if our practice squad could beat them 280 to 0, then I guess that would be an acceptable win we could enjoy. Marvin undoubtedly would've made a foolish challenge which he would've lost. And the talk radio shows would have a field day with it. ArmyBengal
Is it better to win and be positive then to lose and continue the negativity ?? YES... Does being 6-9 make you feel better than 5-10 ?? NO...Here's what I'm looking at:The Jets, Dolphins, Ravens, Raiders, Chiefs, Falcons, 49er's, and Rams all currently have a worse record than ours. So that is 9...The Broncos, Bears, and Panthers are tied with us at 6-9. I'm not sure how the tiebreakers will shake out, but there are 3..."ASSUMING" we win next week:The Bills (at PHI), Texans (home JAC), Eagles (home BUF), Lions (at GB), Saints (at CHI), and Cardinals (home STL) are all one game ahead of us.Looking at that, the Texans, possibly Eagles, Lions, and Saints are who I look at to lose. We would hold the tiebreaker over Buffalo and Arizona, but that is possibly another 4...Don't get me wrong, alot of this is speculation, but there is no way I see us in the top 10 once this shakes out and a possibility we won't be in the top 15.Will we still get an impact defensive player ?? I think so, but I'm just not as comfortable at 15 as I am at 9. Call the draft what you will, but this is where you make your money. Sadly, our scouting staff blows...WHODEY !!! cincy9275
Sadly, our scouting staff blows...WHODEY !!!I disagree.De De Dorsey was a find, as is Ndukwe, TJ, etc.not trying to bust your balls, but that's 3 players out of how many. army is right if our scouts where any good we could have done way better. then look at all the high pick on defense over the years , but yet we can even put out a decent unit. then anybody drafted in the first 4 rd is not a find they are well know by every team. then what about frostie, fanane, sean freaking brewer, the bad out weights the good. this team would only benifit if cheap mike brown would hire somone who know what they are doing, 1 good season in the past 19 years speaks for itself, you can't argue against that. the guy is solely responsable for this team not being able to field a good team, and 8-8 is not a good team 10 wins a season is and that is something this bengals team has never done ever. will he change? i doubt it, but we can only hope. cincy9275
this win was probably the biggest win of the season, one we put a kink in the clowns playoffs hope. two we did not let a bunch of s**tstains celebrate making the playoffs on our own field. that is a good day, i would rather win over having a little better pick, unless it a top five the rest are about the same anyways. even if you a first rounder does not mean that you will be a probowl player. if i am not mistaken there are more players that are not drafted in the first round that are more successful that the 1st rd picks. so a great win for the bengals! Stripes
I don't think the scouts suck either. If there's one issue with the 2006/2007 Bengals, it ain't talent.
ArmyBengal
One, I was referring to the lack of our scouts, not the level of competence for the 3 we have...Two, to base any success on 3 players is crazy. I call that more lucky than anything else...WHODEY !!!
HoosierCat
Current draft selection order:http://www.gbnreport.com/weeklydraftorder.htmBengals are still at 9. If they lose and SF wins it looks like we bump up to 8.Worst case scenario (from the perspective of the draft) is Cincy wins, and Denver, Carolina, Chicago and Arizona all lose. That would drop us to 13.
ArmyBengal
There are also 6 teams that are 7-8 right now and I'm picking only 2 of them to win this weekend, leaving the other 4 also in a tie with the Bengals. I know Arizona and Buffalo beat us, but not sure how the tie breaker would work out with the other 4. WHODEY !!!
