BlainThePain
http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htmSEAN TAYLOR "FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE"Redskins safety Sean Taylor has been shot in Florida, a source with knowledge of the situation tells us. He is in critical condition at a Miami-area hospital and, per the source, is "fighting for his life". Taylor spent Sunday night in his Florida home with his girlfriend and infant daughter. A robbery occurred, and Taylor was shot in the leg by one of the invaders. The bullet severed his femoral artery. He currently is in surgery.Taylor, the fifth overall pick in the 2004 draft, was in Florida to get a second opinion on an injured knee. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Taylor, his family, and the Redskins organization, and we hope that Taylor will make a full recovery. HoosierCat
The latest from the Washington Post's Redskins blog...Posted at 3:12 PM ET, 11/26/2007Sean Taylor "Clinging To Life"Richard Sparpstein, who has represented Sean Taylor in legal matters in the past and is a friend of the family, said moments ago that the player's life is hanging in the balance in the hospital. Sharpstein, speaking from the hospital, said Taylor is "nonresponsive and unconscious" and the doctors are "worried about a possible brain injury or death."Sharpstein, who has been with Taylor's family at the hospital much of the day, said that there are major worries that Taylor may have lost oxygen to the brain, and that no other procedures are planned for right now. "They're waiting to see if he comes to," Sharpstein said. He was shot in the groin/thigh area near the femoral artery and lost copious amounts of blood. He was airlifted to the trauma center and endured several hours of surgery, Sharpstein said.Taylor is in intensive care, Sharpstein said, and his girlfriend and child were not injured in the attack. Sharpstein said Taylor was sleeping when he heard a noise in the living room. The intruders were at his bedroom and Taylor reached for a machete or other form of knife he keeps nearby in case of emergency, and two shots were fired, with one striking his leg."Right now he's clinging to life and we're all praying he makes it," Sharpstein said.Posted by Jason La Canfora
HoosierCat
another update from MDS at PFT:POSTED 6:15 p.m. EST, November 26, 2007GRAVE SITUATION FOR TAYLOR by Michael David Smith Redskins safety Sean Taylor remains in the intensive care unit at Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital, about 16 hours after he was shot in his Miami home.NFL Network's Adam Schefter reported that at two different points during the six hours of surgery Taylor had this morning, he flat lined.Schefter also reports that Redskins running back Clinton Portis and Vice President of Football Operations Vinny Cerrato were among the members of the organization who flew to Miami with Redskins owner Daniel Snyder.Redskins coach Joe Gibbs has said he plans to stay in Washington with the team as it prepares for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.Flatlined twice. So he basically died twice today. Jee-zus.
HoosierCat
More from WaPo...some good news...Posted at 6:49 PM ET, 11/26/2007A REALLY REALLY POSITIVE SIGNLes Carpenter, who is working the story for us in Miami, heard rumblings that Sean may have opened his eyes.I have not been able to get that confirmed but just heard from a team offical that Sean is now responsive, which is obviously a turn for the best. I will continue working away to get more details, but this is obviously a turn for the better after Sean spent much of the day in a "non-responsive and unconscious" state. As the person put it: "Finally, the first good news all day." Let's hope it's the first of more to come.UPDATE: Vinny Cerrato just called us with confirmation."He was responsive to the doctor's requests to squeeze his hands and showed facial expressions. The doctors were very happy about that," Cerrato said " ... Two doctors came and told us they were excited about that."Cerrato also confirmed my earlier reports about Sean being "non-responsive and unconscious." Cerrato said: "We'd heard all that and what they told us was to hope for a miracle."Posted by Jason La Canfora
ArmyBengal
Damn this is crazy. I was reading (I think on Yahoo) about they were wondering if this was in repsonse to the fight he was in where he beat the hell out of some guy he got into an argument with. Sean Taylor (while I don't wish ill upon him) hasn't been the shining example of a good citizen and if this was Chris Henry, people would be saying how he probably had it coming. Reading through the stories above remind me of another saying and it appearantly still holds true today... (No I'm not making light)"Don't bring a knife to a gunfight"WHODEY !!! BengalszoneBilly
Seeing how his house was broken into multiple times in the past weeks, something was brewing that we likely don't know of yet. Either way I hope he recovers, then moves the hell outta that house. If my house was broken into that many times, my .45 would be carried locked and loaded and never leave my side! BengalszoneBilly
I just read on Yahoo that Sean Taylor checked out. What a waste. Home invasion and murder. Welcome to death row for that perpetrator.Unreal. They need to find the bastard and shoot him then and there. Sean had a baby girl he loved, now her daddy is gone. Bengals1
This is all very sad, he had a lot of potential and was obviously very young. He leaves a baby girl who no doubt needs her daddy very much. However, this whole thing just seems strange to me. His girlfriend told police that they heard a noise and Sean grabbed a machete' which he kept by the bed for protection. A man broke down their bedroom door and fired twice at Sean, one shot missing him and one hitting him in the leg severing his artery. Now, what kind of a burgler deliberatly breaks down a door and enters shooting? That sounds more like a "hit" to me than a common burglery.Maybe I'm just overly suspicious, maybe I've seen too many crime shows but something just doesn't seem right about all of this. He had/has a criminal history of violence and while it could still all turn out to be a bizzare coincidence somehow it just doesn't pass the smell test to me.We'll see how this all plays out over the next couple of days.... Stripes
RIP.When that Kim guy appeared for a Sportscenter update about Taylor, I was fully expecting good news. Then he said "has died", and I was just floored. Amazing.
ArmyBengal
This is very sad. Prayers go to his family, friends, and the Redskins organization. I remember when he came into the league and thinking how great it would have been for the Bengals to trade up and get him. He was a beast coming out of college !!! I agree that things don't seem quite right with the whole thing, but this is a sad event in any manner...WHODEY !!!

Especially considering reports that there had been a previous break-in in which a knife was left on Taylor's bed. That sounded like some kind of message/warning from someone who's watched The Godfather a few too many times.

Is this official? By that I mean, is the news media (CNN FOX ABC NBC etc...) reporting it? Where did you see it if I may ask?
