I've decided I think I might root for the Bengals on Monday. Maybe. What can I say? I like underdogs. And I don't like the Pats. And, based on this thread, I don't really mind if the Bengals win. I mean, it's one thing when Bengals fans are all talking s**t about how awesome they are and how they're going to win all teh Super Bowlz!!!111!, but times like this, when it's just a bunch of ordinary fans hoping their team will win, desperate for something to get excited about, instead of being arrogant and cocky, I just know I won't enjoy rubbing it in your faces if you lose. I think I'd prefer to rub it in Pats fans' faces. Good luck on Monday.

What the hell do people like you expect? Did you expect that they would be able to extend the entire offense and still be able to pick off 6 or 8 major FA defensive players? No, it was not going to work that way.

Open your eyes, ace. The plan was to keep our good players, mostly offensive, and build a defense, where there was none, by putting together a bunch of good young defensive players. I believe that Marvin did that! Marvin had to completely make over the defense from the God awful '02 squad. Do you really think that is so easy? Do you think that it is easy when you, as coach, Mr Damien, lose your 1st round pick in '04, your 1st and 2nd round picks in '05 as well as the guy you were forced to draft in '07 because your '04 1st round pick can't play back to back games. Were Pollack and Thurman running around making the plays that they are capable of, this defense would be vastly better than it is right now. Perry was exactly what our offense needs and if he had been healthy we would not have had to draft a replacement in '07 and would have been able to select another good young defensive player. Plus, you sir, lose a stud receiver for more than half of a season. The building of this team has been absolutely snake-bitten. Despite the unprecedented adversity, you expect and demand a Super Bowl Trophy.

For what it is worth (not much), John Clayton, during his weekly Monday interview on the Pittsburgh radio station gives the Bengals little chance tonight, but did mention that with this Bengals team, it is possible. What I find most interesting is that he (the Steeler-kissing analyst that he is ... being from Pittsburgh) clearly said that Palmer is right now right there with Brady as the second best QB in the NFL behind Manning. I just found that interesting ... bet it rubs a lot of the local listeners the wrong way ... and that is always a good thing.

I've witnessed one winning season with this team since I was 19 years old, ONE, and it took 14 years just to get there. I am now going on 38. How many other teams can say that?

I was going to games during the mid-90's when no one else was in the stadium, now it's bandwagon heaven and nothing but drunk kids calling each other "dawg" and getting in fights, wearing costumes and "beads" (for whatever reason). They're eveywhere - and they'll be gone after a bad season or two and the rest of us old timers will still be here.

Where were all these people 10 years ago? Some of us have earned the right! Just ignore it already, big deal. We cope in different ways.

If you've "really" been a fan since '68, I would think you would understand.

I have come to the opinion that anyone who is clearly not a Bengals fan and uses the word 'bungles' should become a troll. Is that not a form of smack? Is that not degrading when coming from a non-Bengals fan? Maybe I'm getting old, and I am always happy to admit being wrong and happy to learn ... happy to take it on the chin and change my thinking ... but this is one I would love to hear Bengals fan's opinion on. Maybe it's just Monday morning in Pittsburgh :-) ... but I still think they should be warned, and thrown to troll status if they refuse to change. My two cents on a Monday.

I completely agree and that's actually a comment I made earlier. I don't mind poking fun at the Bengals or having fun poked at the Bengals...if it's another fan. Tends to get on my nerves (a little) if it's some one that pulls for another team. I compare it to picking on your brother - OK if you pick on your brother and OK if your brother picks on you...but someone not in the family pick on your brother - NOT OK.

I'm fairly new here so I don't know exactly what constitues "troll" status - from what I can gather it's just other fans that come in here and start trash talking. I don't think you should be allowed in here either if your only intention is to scream unintelligent trash talk - that makes it no fun for anyone.

There is reasoned criticizm and there is over the top ridiculous criticizm. The latter is what usually causes a response from me. You have never seen me take issue with any of the criticism of Bresnahan. I don't like Bratkowski much either but some of the bullsh*t that is heaped on Marvin daily on every board of which I am a member, gets pretty exasperatingly annoying. There are a whole lot of people who, if they are one tenth as football knowledgeable as they think they are, would be well on their way to the Canton.
