Did he play great tonight or what? Watching this guy improve every single year is AWESOME. He is quickly becoming one of the best pass rushing ends in football. Keep it up, Jumpy! :sure:

Yeah, a pick, a sack, a FF and 5 tackles...he earned some of that big contract tonight.

And if that weren't enough his quickness forced the Raven OT (Yanda?) into several penalties. Without looking it up I can think of three, and there might have been more.

Without a doubt Geathers was my choice for player of the game.

Hard to argue. He had a damn good game.

You? Not arguing with Hair? For shame, Hoosier. I'm disappointed in you.

Now what am I supposed to do for entertainment? Watch the 49ers v. Cardinals?

He sure as hell is. And he's a lot better against the run than some people give him credit for - he's not as one-dimensional as Freeney who has, in the past, single-handedly killed their rush D by spinning himself out of the play. I've seen Geathers do a fantastic job of stringing off-tackle runs to the sideline for little or no gain.

And on the INT play, looks like he can play some DB too. ;)

RGeathers sure did play a good game, I was happy to see a Bengal make plays like that and not the other team...I would say an honorable mention should go to LHall, he made not have made any turnovers, but he was very solid in coverage especially for a rookie starting his 1st game...

I agree on Hall, but let's not forget Landon Johnson guys. What does this guy have to do to get some respect around here? He leads the team in tackling for two years and people constantly insist that he's backup material. Now he goes out, gets 11 tackles, and returns a fumble/interception for a touchdown, and STILL nothing. Honestly...

oh yeah, Landon Johnson played well too...I guess he needs to be more self promoting. Do a dance or wear platinum teeth or put a rainbow wig on after a great play, you know go to the Chad Johnson school of Self-Promotion were you to can learn to put yourself before the team, get yourself interviewed for having an average game, and get endorsement deals.

Did you see when Landon came to the sideline after his big play and Chad came up to him all happy and s**t jumping around and Landon just looked at dude like, "Man, calm your ass down"...that was priceless.

He was getting in the backfield last night like freeny. I hope his game was the product of the that rookie tackle the ravens had playing. It is good to see a Bengals defender flying into the backfield though. Exciting....

It took awhile for TJ Housh to prove himself too... I think this is gonna be Landon's breakout year. This dude takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I can't count the number of times I've seen this guy go down and you just think, "Oh No, He has to be hurt after that, he's not getting up" and then you see him back in the huddle and flying around on defense... I don't know, there's something special about LJ and his ability to "Get up"... LJ proved himself to me at the end of the year last year, I hope he continues to make those types of plays, we need him more than anything.

Geathers, L Hall, D' Oneal, Landon Johnson, Myers and Dexter all played great games. My game ball goes to Geathers though. Man was he phenominal last night.

As I said in another thread my MVP has to be Graham, he stuck it out and made some great kicks, even though you could tell he was in extreme pain after everyone of them. That is as tough as a kicker can be and I think he deserves recognition for his determined play.

Geathers > Justin Smith - great night for Jumpy Jr.

Please let Justin go after this year and use that money on other position areas (*cough* o-line *cough*)

Doesn't work, they've already invested a ton in the Oline in Levi and Willie. They need to get healthy. Besides, decent O-linemen don't hit free agency - or if they do, even mediocre ones cost a ton. When healthy, I'm fine with the starting 5 that we have.

I'd be all for getting better backups, but dumping Justin isn't the answer to that. Not to mention which, part of the reason Geathers is so good is that he has a bookend.

So, here's the thing. If Demarcus Ware or Shawn Merriman makes that play, it is all anyone can talk about nationally this morning, right? What does it take for people to put down the star worship and look at what happens on the field?

That play by Geathers, 15 yards downfield, diving with the presence of mind to get his hands under the ball, then get up and run (not rumble, but by-god run) and literally save the game was one of the best defensive plays by any defensive end I have ever seen. Ever. Bengals or otherwise.

It was jaw-dropping. Absolutely jaw-dropping.

I am beside myself, 17 hours later, over how athletic that play was.

That was a spectacular game for Geathers. In every respect.

If we don't have atleast one player off the defenseive line in the pro-bowl this year I'll be surprised. Geathers wasn't a choice to go to the pro-bowl last year cause he wasn't a choice to vote for last year cause he wasn't a starter. GREAT JOB CHUCK! KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!!! SHUT OUT THE CRAP STAINES NEXT WEEK! :bengal:

WhoDey!!!

I wouldn't make too much out of the so-called lack of respect being shown to Landon Johnson. He finished a close 2nd to Geathers in a player of the game thread posted at Go-Bengals, and I doubt the results would be any different here.

As for me, I voted for Geathers not only because of the remarkable plays he made...and the penalties he caused, but because the biggest play Landon Johnson made all night, the TD return, was a direct result of Geathers forcing the fumble.
