skyline Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 I hate that we had to give up a draft pick to do it, but if it rids us of Doug Johnson, then I guess it's worth it. Quote
Spor_tees Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Wali Lundy and Darius Walker got cut by the Texans...also cut by the Texans, Jared "Trick Play" Zebransky. Also a cut to mention, Buster Davis was cut by the Arizona Cardinals. Quote

Uh...wait. I wonder how high this "undisclosed" draft pick is?I'm sure it's one of those "conditional" day 2 picks (Fitz was a 7th rounder initially) and probably won't be any higher than a 6th rounder unless something happens to Palmer, and Fitz has some sort of monster year. But in any event we will have at least one comp pick next April, and maybe as many as four...so we got picks to spare. Quote

Can't be no dummy I would guess. Quote
redsbengalsbucks Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 I like this kid, but it seems a bit to late to be switching #2 QB's. Is Rowe #2 till Fitz can get the system under him? I hope Johnson is gone. Much better pick-up than Leftwich would be IMO. Quote
kingwilly Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 This does spell the end for the former Benglas QB Doug Johnson. Fitzpatrick cannot possibly be any worse. Hell, most of us here could play as poorly as Doug Johnson.Consider this, had they given Rowe the time they gave Johsnon, he'd be that much further along and maybe not need to give up a pick (probably an r4) to get Fitz. TJJackson Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Assuming the pick traded is no higher than a 6, I am VERY happy about this transaction, and like most of the rest of you, see this as the end of Doug Johnson....which is a good thing. I don't see Rowe going....he had his share of good moments and he hasn't had much of a chance to prove himself. Call Carson the starter (duh!), Fitzpatrick the experienced backup, and Rowe the developmental guy. He's smart, big, and extremely accurate (short and medium passes). Has some experience in a top offense. Knows the NFC west (we play them this year) . Bottom line: both cheaper and better than Doug Quote
Ox Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Can't say I'm surprised about this. DJ was absolutely horrible. I wonder if our front office was on the phone with the Rams before, during or after his second pick last night? Quote

Stripes Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I remember Fitzpatrick having a monster game in his rookie season, leading the Rams in a big comeback over the Texans. This seems like as good a pickup as any to replace Dougie. If the draft pick is higher than a fifth rounder, which I highly doubt, my mood will change. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Thank you God !!! I've been hoping for him to get the boot since last year. Dougie was garbage and Fitz can't be any worse. I also agree that it would have been good to get Rowe more reps during the preseason, but hindsight is 20/20...WHODEY !!! Quote
