Err, don't think they can til he's found guilty officially.

But yes, the Bengals' will probably cut him if so, at least I hope they cut the POS. I have no desire to root for him.

I don't think that's some big news tip you've got there though.

i would never name names but someone with the team. You will hear by monday I would believe. Pat me on the back then...lol

You sure do feel bad about yourself. Projecting is not very nice.

Shula, the Jags just cut ties with Ahmad Carroll off of his arrest. You really can cut someone without waiting for it to play out legally. At least you can now under Goodell's new big stick.

Yup, and the Steelers just cut a player immediately after he was arrested for.....pimping.

I'd be surprised to see this, simply because of our questionable LB depth. If he is cut, however... well that only makes The Return of Odell the Mighty more probable.

He hasn't been a contributor outside special teams, so I don't really have any opinion here either way.

*edit* I posted this before I saw the thread for his arrest. He's a goner.

Yeah, the CBA prohibitions against cutting "turds" are pretty much being ignored by all parties, including the players and the union. As long as the majority of players continue to support a hardass policy against bad character types, teams will pretty much have free rein to punish problem players.

It's worth noting that this isn't completely new. Marvin benching Henry for a game last year after his part in the last Odell incident was technically illegal under the CBA, but no one ever barked.

As for Nicholson, yeah, if they send his a$$ packing in the next 72 hours it wouldn't surprise me a bit.

What does the CBA say about players who go to jail? He's on probation already. This thing will most likely send him to jail for a while, at least the start of the season, possibly the duration. Wouldn't that constitute a breach of contract on his part?

Maybe this is all moot because you could cut him based soley on performance. Per Hobson: "With the Bengals expected to keep seven linebackers, he is believed to be behind a group that includes starters Ahmad Brooks, Ed Hartwell, and Rashad Jeanty, as well as Landon Johnson, Caleb Miller, Andre Frazier, and Eric Henderson. Plus, they may need to make room for Odell Thurman because he’s expected to be reinstated from a year-suspension in time for training camp. Also, undrafted rookie Earl Everett out of Florida is expected to compete for a roster spot."

All rhetoric aside for a moment, AJ has just removed himself from consideration for one of the backup LB spots for the pure and simple reason that, guilty or not, Marvin cannot count on him. This team needs known quantities certain, not wild cards. We have comparable talent available that the rest of the team can count on, they can't depend on Nicholson.

Gone, adios, good bye and good riddance.

This pretty much sums it up for me. I'm on vacation in Australia and when I heard about this arrest I flipped my s***. We don't need two women hitters on our team. He already got in trouble for burglary. Though we cut Matthias Askew after his resisting arrest incident, I still believe our team image is one of a criminal nature. I believe Ahmad Brooks has enormous talent and has turned his life around. Plus with the possibility of Odell returning and the signing of Hartwell, we don't need this cowardly bastard. Hitting women is about as low as it gets in my book so I hope that this rumor is true. Also, I hope Eric Henderson is developing as well as we're lead to believe. I remember a while back he was labeled as the next Adalius Thomas. We have a lot of young, raw talent at LB. If, and that's is a big if, it does materialize, I think we'll have one of the most feared defenses in the league.

While I find abusing women inherently wrong, you are jumping to conclusions without any facts of the case.

How do you know that the woman was not the agressor in the situation? Would you be willing to allow a woman to beat on you with (let's say) a ball bat without defending yourself?

I am not defending AJ, but I do know that not all men arrested for abuse where the aggressors in the situation, society has just deemed it the man's fault no matter what.

Honestly I want the lb corp. to be Hartwell, Brooks, and Jeanty starting with Eric Henderson splitting time with Jeanty. So backups would be Henderson, Landon, Caleb, and Earl Everrett. When Odell comes back I would like the Bengals to trade either Landon or Caleb. There is no reason to keep two undersized Lbs as special teams players. I like Caleb because he can play multiple LB roles. Nicholson was probably not going to make the team even if he didn't get in trouble.

Man, all you guys just jump to conclusions and assume he is guilty...I mean maybe that chick hit him in the hand with her face.

:lmao:

I wonder if he will use that defense in court?

As if AJ deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Also, the NFLPA will most likely challenge Carroll's roster cut with the Jags, and I can't see the Brown family risking $ just to make a point with AJ.

The rule is still a max suspension of 4 games for "conduct detrimental to the team," which is all AJ and Ahmad's situations are at the moment (until found guilty, when teams get more leeway in what they can do at that point).

They already cut Sam Adams. Cuts are happening... and as noted before, Nicholson isn't so good that he's guaranteed a roster spot. The Bengals would have no problem defeating any charges brought against them for violating the NFLPA. They would merely need to cite the moving of Eric Henderson to LB, the signing of Earl Everett, and the possible return of Odell Thurman.
