At worst I see this team going 13-3.

 Dude, whatever you're smoking, pass some my way!

No doubt there's some rope being burned. There is no freakin' way the Bengals will go 13-3 with the defense they are currently stuck with!

Injuries i think hurt us last year..JoJo will be a beast this year..I love Tory and everything but thank god he is gone...I'm hoping we can draft Patrick Willis or Jon Beason..Also, if Pollack can return it would be a great addition along with Odell.

Well, I would challenge anyone guaranteeing a minimum 13 wins if only because the Bengals have never won more than 12 games in a single season in franchise history. And the Bengals have had better teams and easier schedules before.

I would say absolute worst case scenario is 7-9, best case probably 11-5. One thing they have going for them, and that plays into my double-digit win scenarios, is that they actually match up pretty well with this sked. Using last year's numbers:

# top 10 offenses faced: 2

# top 10 defenses faced: 4

# teams with both faced: 1 (Pitt)

# 20+ ranked offenses faced: 7 (+ we get #'s 18 & 19)

# 20+ ranked defenses faced: 6 (+ we get #'s 18 & 19 here, too)

# teams with both faced: 4 (7 if you count 18 & 19 rankings)

In other words, while our D is weak, we face few potent offenses. We do face more tough defenses, but that's what carson & Co. get paid the big bucks for, right?

The stumbling point is that billy's right and our D is a mess, and could very easily make a few poor offenses look like world-beaters.

The law of averages say that it's time for Cleveland to steal one from us, and I'm thinking it's coming just in time to f*ck us at the end of the season. Overall though, I'm liking this schedule though.

"Defense is too bad."

For what? The defense was good enough to get us one roughing the passer penalty, one botched snap and one missed field goal away from 11-5 last year. Arguably, none of those games were decided by the fact that our defense is "too bad."

Making predictions is a lot more interesting when there's some sort of explanation or reasoning behind them.

I'd say we're looking at a record anywhere between 8w/8l and 14w/2l - there are way too many bounces that can't be predicted, particularly five months before the season starts.

Does anyone think as I do that the bye week is too early? Personally I prefer it later. At week 5 it seems the season just gets rollling, and suddenly your team has a week off just as things start getting good.

At KC 2 years in a row? Did they move the Chiefs into the Bengals division?

...

Actually, it is the third year in a row Bengals have played a regular season game at KC. Jan 1, 2006; Sep 10, 2006 and now Oct 14, 2007.

Do you have an idea on what determines that? Is it the team with the worse record from the year before that gets to host the next year? I know we played NE at our house last year and we host them again this year on MNF...

The reason we played @KC last year is that we hosted KC in 2003. 2003/2006 were in the 3-year cycle where we play all the AFC West teams every 3 years.

In 2005 we played KC because both teams had finished 3rd in their division the year before. We played on the road because 3 years earlier, we hosted the AFC west team we played (the Chargers). 2002/2005 were in the cycle where we played all the AFC South teams every 3 years.

This year, we play KC because we both finished 2nd in our divisions. We travel again to KC because in 2004 we hosted the only AFC West team we played (the Broncos). 2004/2007 are in the cycle where we played all the AFC East teams every 3 years.

I hope that made sense.

I'll have to read that a few more times to understand..Thanks for the info though ;)
