bengalsfan17
I just saw on espn.com that Al Wilson from the denver broncos is on the trading block and the broncos are trying to trade him. Why not go after this guy, he is fast and a very good tackler, and has experience which we sorely need at that position. The broncos might be willing to take justin or thornton...or trade a pick for him he is a very good player.

Stripes
Let's try him at safety.
HoosierCat
Actually, Wilson wouldn't be a horrible pickup; he's still a good player and the contestants for our MLB spot are the still-raw Brooks and career backup Caleb Miller. Trouble is that he's due to make something north of $5m this coming season, which is too steep for a stopgap signing. Plus we'd probably have to hork over draft compensation in a year when we're already short a pick.

Dawg BpG
all the over the top moves have finally caught up with the Donks. Now the have to get rid of the anchor of their defense. This would be a good pickup for ANY NFL team.
kentjett
I would rather have Takeo but we all know that we'll not even attempt to sign either.
ShulaSteakhouse
Why would anyone take Spikes or Wilson? I sure as hell wouldn't. Takeo's a quitter any ways - screw him, plus he's coming off an injury. Also, why would the Broncos take on even more salary just to get a mediocre DE in Smith, when they're trying to dump Wilson's?And finally, I'm positive they wouldn't want the over-priced junk that is Thorton at this point. The logic on this board from some eludes me. James_Brooks21
I would rather have Takeo but we all know that we'll not even attempt to sign either.Once again man I don't know how many times we have to spell it out to you, Takeo is not the same player that left the Bengals. Takeo achilles injury looks like it will hamper him for the rest of his career, his legs are trying to over compensate for that injury thus him getting pulled hamstrings and other injuries throughout the season on his leg. When they were talking about Carson having stage freight on that knee for the rest of his career they should have been talking about Takeo with his injury because he actually said that he was scared to go all out on his foot in fear that it would happen again. More importantly Takeo was a non believer in Marvin and packed up and left town on us when he could have stayed, I don't want him back and I truly smile every time I look up and the Bengals have a better record then the Bills because of him. derekshank
It really isn't even so much about Odell for me. Wilson certainly would be an upgrade at MLB... but I think Caleb Miller is pretty under-rated. The only thing that guy has going against him is his size. Everything else, his speed, his tackling, his intelligence, makes him a very competent MLB. It's not a big enough area of need right now to break the bank.If we were talking about a CB or a DT or a WSLB, I'd seriously consider it. But we're talking about a very good, but (let's face it) over-the-hill MLB. With Brooks, Miller, and the possiblity of Odell returning, it just doesn't make sense to give up something (be it draft picks, or current players) and to take on a $5 million price-tag for a player we're not desperate for. DC_Bengals_Fan
I would rather have Takeo but we all know that we'll not even attempt to sign either.Do remember that Takeo is as old as Simmons. We haven't seen much of Takeo in a few years, and I doubt he's the same player. Add a ruptured Achilles == no thanks.Wilson's making a decent salary, so I'm not sure what Denver thinks he's worth in terms of additional picks to take him. What would they want? Surely not a day 1? Would they take a 4th and John Thornton?
kentjett
It takes two full years to come back from an achilles injury. We need a leader in our LB core even if he only plays a limited role, at least he knows how to maintain his position and make a tackle. BengalPappaw
ESPN is reporting that Al Wilson failed his physical with the Giants.Maybe there's a reason we don't need him. We've got enough player that are injuried or out because of stupidity.
Larry
From what I gather, Brooks could be the answer in the middle. The more I hear Marvin and company say there is nothing to talk about when it come to Odel the more I think he will be in the mix. Brooks has the talent and size to be there, but it would be great to see the intensity that Odel brought his rookie year. As for spikes.... Good times had by all until he said screw you all..... I would still love to have him at the right price. He would definately have to redo his deal... 4 million + now..
kentjett
What position did Brooks play in college. I can't see Thurman playing any other position than middle linebacker. I think Odell will play on the special teams all year and will get some playing time if somebody gets hurt.
membengal
ESPN is reporting that Al Wilson failed his physical with the Giants. What's that? He's washed up? Damn right, kirkendell, i DO have a thought or two...Thread started? Check.People reminisce about cast-off from when he was healthy back in the day? Check.Time machine available? NO. Damn. Always the hang up, the damn lack of a time machine. The existence of this thread saddens me. I thought we had the off-season catch-all thread for such musings designated.
