I find it a bit funny how we are all wanting these 7-4 and 6-5 teams to lose, which, of course, helps our playoff chances ... yet here in Urine land, all the talk continues to be that if these very same teams lose, everyone is thorougly convinced that the Black-N-Urine will roll into Cincy on 12/31 having the same 8-7 record as the Bengals. And you know they see themselves winning that to grab the final spot ahead of the Bengals.

Just seems funny to me that everyone has the same interest ... especially when one of those teams is currently 4-7.

They MUST be smoking some of what Spain has been growing!

Yeah I guess I'm missing the reasoning behind wanting Denver to win? Wouldn't the Bengals' win the tie breaker with KC?

If Denver loses, KC gets the 1st WC spot (at least temporarily) because you apply the division tiebreaker first. So it would be us vs. Denver & NYJ, and that comes down to AFC record, which Denver wins.

Of course, there are four games let to play.

Yeah, that's what I thought the understanding was ... but I simply believe it is too early to be concerned with that type of scenario (with 1/4 of the season left to play, including us playing Denver head-to-head). I prefer they lose.

Yeah, I agree. Its just not a slam-dunk, IMHO.

Anyhow, Joey reverting to form. Looks like another Jax TD coming up. And there it is.

Well, barring the Dolphins actually playing in the second half, and if the Broncos lose tonight (hoping), then we'll have a big old 4 way tie for 2 wildcard spots going into the final 4 weeks of the season.

This should be a very exciting December!

Looking at the tiebreaker rules again, I think I may have been wrong. I think if Denver loses, we end up as the 5th seed, not 7th in line. (KC knocks off Denver in the AFCW for the first WC spot, then we win the tie between us, KC, the Jets and Jax if they win their current game on AFC record.) If they win we win the same tiebreaker for 6th seed.

Turnover by jax! :sure:

Ah thanks. Looks like no help from Miami today.

Nope. & like I said in the post above yours I may have been wrong. It would help if the NFL could write the tiebreaking rules a bit more clearly...anyhow, go Seahawks!

Missed FG Miami :(

OK, here's the relevant chunk of the tiebreaking rules:

Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)

1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.

2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)

3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

(snip)

When the first Wild-Card team has been identified, the procedure is repeated to name the second Wild-Card, i.e., eliminate all but the highest-ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2.

So, if I am reading this right, if Denver loses tonight, they, KC, us, the Jets and it looks like Jax will be tied.

Under step 1, KC knocks out Denver based on division record (3-1 vs. 3-2). Then it falls to us vs. KC vs. Jets vs. Jax. Step 2 isn't applicable. Bengals win based on 3, AFC record and become the 5th seed.

The process then resets. KC again knocks out Denver, but in the tiebreaker between KC, Jax, and the Jets, New York wins.

If Denver wins, they are the 5th seed, and we are the 6th seed (winning on AFC record versus Jax, NYJ ad KC)

So, in sum, if Denver loses, the wild card teams are Cincinnati and the New York Jets. If they win, the WCs are Denver and Cincinnnati.

I think... :wacko::lol:

so we could end up with the 5th seed before the day ends :-) awesome.

I think so, but I've been wrong before.

Jax just cruising down the field now.

10-10 NY vs. Dallas.

WOW what a run by Maurice Jones Drew! TD Jax.

I dunno if this qualifies as a scenario...I'm just trying to figure out where the heck they are now. Which, of course, will mean diddly divided by squat in four more weeks!

I think it was tipped, wasn't it? Still, you have to expect a rook will have a few bumps.

On review, I can't tell. Should have just tucked it away and taken the sack.

What the hell was that fake FG thing at the end? Amounted to nothing, didnt even try to take a time out for a shot at the end zone, and Elam comes up limping. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Yeah that was a strange play by Denver. I'm not losing too much sleep over Elam ganking his hammy though. :)

Yikes Chad is having none of Bob Costas cheeseball act - totally downplaying the Ocho Cinco stuff. Never seen him that quiet/serious.

Maybe he's a bit concerned that he better get his bottom to his flight lest he have to make a late night call to Marvin.
