bengalboomer7
The 2006 Bengals went into the locker room today at halftime...and the 2005 Bengals came out. I don't know what was said, but I guarantee you something was. Beautiful to see.Summed up perfectly with a little splash of an improved defense! derekshank
Technically in 1st place because of our 2-0 in the division. Going 4-2 with this schedule, with how many players are injured, managing to pull out a victory against what some said was the hottest team in the NFL... we're done. semiotter
Yep, the Bengals are toast. I doubt they will finish 8-8 this year. Today will be another loss. The 8:30 NFL show on ESPN showed how bad the O-line is [esp Bobbie Williams]. But the deeper problem is that the coaches can't see the problems and correct them..... Andrew W would have done a whole ton better than BObbie at RG... but Paul Alexidiot can't see anything... like spending 2 draft picks on Central Michigan guys that no one else followe that could have been had as free agents...Man you are really a sport guru.... ArmyBengal
Yep, first place is a good thing... Still can't help but be irritated by the call last week. We should be 5-1... We got jobbed, but I'm still VERY pleased !!!WHODEY !!!

HairOnFire
Yep, first place is a good thing... Still can't help but be irritated by the call last week. We should be 5-1... And there it is. Despite the injuries that have resulted in hard fought grinding victories and one very ugly lopsided loss the Bengals are one blown call from being 5-1, with their only loss to the 5-1 Patriots. Instead, they're 4-2, and tied for 1st place in their division. Last time I checked that wasn't too bad. Yet somehow large portions of the Bengals own fanbase see only negatives. Teeth are being gnashed. Hands are being wrung. Our poop grows more watery with each passing moment. Go figure. BTW, I've been busy busting nut on my house and haven't been my usual post whoring self of late...causing me to miss this interesting thread when it first played out. So, thanks for the bump if only so that I could read Membengal go goat all over the hated Tibor.
Ox
Yeah no problem. But watch out Hair, some thread starters get a little sore around the nipples if you question why this damn'd thread was started in the first place... ok I'm just starting sh*t again, sorry. I don't care what the offical standings say. We all know what their actual record is.
agreen_112
I'm done with this stupid thread, go cheer for the Browns ass-clown!
BENGALTHEM
What are your opinions now? If we don't get some kind of chemistry and swagger quick, we are done. It seems like every time they call an audible they run it.The paradox to me is how can an offense with so much talent seem so limited? HoosierCat
I wouldnt say they are done...yet. But they have lost control of their own destiny. As long as the Ravens, Chargers and Jaguars keep winning, there's no way the Bengals can get into the postseason. So we have to start rooting for those teams to rack up some losses, as well as for the Bengals to win. (More L's for the Chiefs and Jets would be good things, too.)Next week vs. SD is an absolute must-win. Notably, SD struggled mightily against the Browns today. It was 12-10 Cleveland at the half, 17-12 SD to end the 3rd, and 17-15 SD in the fourth before Tomlinson went off for 2 TDs.
bengalboomer7
It's getting close and there isn't any relief in our schedule. We need some identity on both sides of the ball. And can i see a little fire out there.
schweinhart
Next week vs. SD is an absolute must-win. Notably, SD struggled mightily against the Browns today. It was 12-10 Cleveland at the half, 17-12 SD to end the 3rd, and 17-15 SD in the fourth before Tomlinson went off for 2 TDs.Yeah it's one game at a time now. All the Bengals can do is grind out win after win and hope the rest of the playoff picture shakes down in their favor. Still wouldn't rule out the North though because the Ratbirds are a very average team. The Bengals need to look long and hard at why they got grilled in the passing game by an old buzzard like McNair and his crew. The Heap catches should be easy ones to see -- just god awful mismatches with Justin then Jeanty and even Dex Jack stumbling and bumbling after him. Gates may not be quite as fast downfield or to spots wide but he's much more physical than Heap. The Bengals will have to drill him at the line every chance they get, play him like they are trying to run block against him -- that means Jeanty has to try to knock Gates off his feet before he gets going. But Gates will be just one component of a much, much better offense vs. the Bolts and the Bengals are going to have to continue to stack the line like they have every game this year with the exception of the Pats. Dominated the interior like they have and they force LT out. Only problem with that is the obvious one of speed and I would really like to see Madieu get the call to track LT all game -- key on nobody but him and adjust the rest of the D accordingly. All in all, though, we're looking at a 4-4 team whose gotten its backside bit in the 2nd quarter of the season. Now it's time for the 3rd quarter of the season -- anybody really think the Bengals can't beat the Bolts, Saints, Clowns and Ratbirds? I'll say right now this team will be 8-4 going into the last quarter. But defense aside, most of the success or failure really depends on Carson Palmer. He's got to hit open receivers for this team to be great. Period.
CBin2k7
I don't think they are done. Win the next 2 games and then the Bengals are right back in it. SD is good on offense. LT is going to get his yards. The Bengals have to score next week, SD is not good in pass defense. Especially since they are missing Merriman/Phillips their pass rushers, it shouldn't be hard to throw the ball downfield against them.Running will be almost non-existent, Bluto will get blown up by Williams, forcing the Bengals to double him, and making for free LB's to come flowing to Rudi. The Saints are good, but they are beatable as well, and we all know that the Bengals will beat the Ravens in game 2 at PBS.
volcom69
Is it me or does it seem like the team is falling apart here, at some point u would expect them to start working as a team and start to gel with one another. The o-line cant seem to block anyone this year even the guys who played for years toghter cant block. It seems they arnt going down field awhole alot either this year. The def i didnt think we did a horrible job stoping the run againt Lewis, but until they start to get some sort of pass rush guys are always going to be open even on the 3rd and 18 plays. I never seen such a horrible pass rush B. Rob cant rush the passer one bit, and all our blitz always get picked up. I for one hope mav sees this and next year maybe bring in some decent free agents. I just hope they can start to gel with one another and start to do something or this season might as well be another 8-8 season or worse then what happens.
