schnarfer
I know it will suck to not have Henry out there for the next 2 games but better now than later and better 2 games rather than 4. This should not hurt us as bad as a season ending suspension or a four game suspension. To be honest, he got off lucky. Hopefully he learn and move on because he is a very talented reciever. agreen_112
Jesus, H. Now this just makes it even worse that Marv decided to sit him out last week. So stupid.
membengal
Or...smart because the NFL may have taken into account that ML already suspended him for two games (one last year and then last week) and only made it two more......good to finally have this shoe drop. ShulaSteakhouse
Yes I'm glad it's over with, and to know he should be around for the final 10 games. The Tampa Bay game is up to the defense to win and am not worried about Henry much for that one. It's going to be important to win the Tampa Bay game right now. Will see where they go from there, and hope Dexter is back for the Carolina game at least also.
skyline
He got of pretty lightly. I'm also sick of everyone blaming last week on not having Henry. Last I checked there were other deep threats on the team. When was the last time we saw Chad go deep? We just got beat. Move on.

I agree 100% with the last line. As for the rest of the post I tend to lean towards agreen's..."Jesus, H. Now this just makes it even worse that Marv decided to sit him out last week. So stupid." Marvin's decision to sit Henry played right into the Patriots strategy of taking away the Bengals deep passing attack and forcing them to play patient & mistake-free small ball. The Bengals may have been able to do this if Chatman was up up to speed or if the O-line was operating at normal levels, but with none of those things being true the end result was a neutered Bengal passing attack unable to exploit a fairly weak Patriot secondary in the same manner that the Patriots exploited a suspect Bengal run defense that was already undermanned due to injury. For those who would counter by claiming that a message had to be sent to Henry, well....we all knew that message was coming soon enough, and one week later here it is. In retrospect, Marvin's gesture wasn't empty, but it also wasn't needed...and the decision to play a very good Patriot team without one of it's best offensive weapons wasn't fair to every other player on the roster. Making matters worse, the timing of the NFL's suspension would have been seen as absolutely perfect due to the action coming during the bye week. Everyone involved would have had the time to react to the news and by the time the Bengals played Tampa Bay emotions would have cooled, focus would have been regained, and adjustments for Henry's absence could have been better planned for. By comparison, Marvin's decision to deactivate Henry for a critical game smacks of being a gesture being made more to counter fan and media criticism than as a much needed message for Henry. Blanket Chad and take your chances with the other wideouts. With Henry on the sidelines that left the Bengals with Housh, an elite possession reciever, fellow possession WR K-Dub, and AC....a slot WR who has only practiced a handful of times over several months. With Chad being gameplanned for the key to beating the Steelers was Chris Henry's speed and deep strike ability, and the same would have been true against the Patriots. Italian fan
I think Marvin did the right thing punishing Henry. Sometimes real life is more important than a football game and Henry, a great player, has to realize he is a lucky man playing football and earning a lot of money. If Bengals won Patriots game nobody could say a word (as for the win in Detroit last year with Henry not active). Anyway at 3-1 the future is not so cloudy!! ArmyBengal
To place blame anywhere than squarely on the shoulders on Henry is not quite right. While I agree Marvin picked a poor game to exercise his right as a coach to discipline a player, he had to do something to show his position as the head coach and don't blame him one bit. If one player sitting out means we lose a game, we are in bigger trouble than we think !!! This isn't Carolina and Steve Smith we are talking about... Agree or disagree, it's said and done, time to move on and get other players healthy again !!!WHODEY !!!
Kazkal
wonder if he'll get more time for his DUI,the nfl gave odell a year without going to court so i'd figure this 2 games takes that in to account.

While I agree Marvin picked a poor game to exercise his right as a coach to discipline a player, he had to do something to show his position as the head coach and don't blame him one bit. Henry seems like a slow learner, but I'm guessing that Marvin has made him aware of his ability to sit him anytime he wants. The real question I have is if the price paid by others for sending Henry a discretionary symbolic message...the same one he would have gotten from the NFL just 5 days later. You guys can argue all you want about the need to send Henry a message, but by doing so Marvin also sent a message that under certain circumstances he'll choose not to put his best players on the field...even if that decision results in 52 innocent players suffering a loss they may not have experienced otherwise. Besides, the message Marvin sent to Henry included full pay. Meanwhile, the identical message sent by the NFL cost Henry the price of a new Escalade with 24" spinners. So which message, Marvin's or the NFL's, do you think a slow learner like Henry is likely to remember most?

cincy9275
isn't it funny how the bengals said they expect Odell to get suspended and a week later gone , then they said they expected henrey to be suspended a week later poof suspended , does mike and marv have that much pull with the new commissioner? Stripes
These are two games in which missing Henry doesn't really concern me.I don't think Marvin was giving in to fan and media criticism by sitting Henry last week. Henry has now gotten in trouble twice during the football season (this year and last), and both times he was forced to sit. Marvin has to be consistent or nobody will take him seriously. He can't win. I don't blame him at all.
