Sox
I watched the playoff game in a sports bar in Canton. The place was packed with Steeler's fans. Almost all of them were cheering when they showed Palmer go into the tunnel on the meat wagon. Made me sick to my stomach. I have zero mercy for Steeler's fans. Karma, baby! Sure, I'd like to beat the best, but if Ben's out and they loose 4 or 5 out of the gate, they don't get any pity from me.That's pretty much my sentiment after the behavior I observed at the playoff game.Again,I wish Ben well and hope he recovers fully. But I have zero sympathy for their fans. aaronburr
Should be an interesting match-up if he's back by Week 3. Might take a little of the pressure off Carson. And by that, I mean the pressure we would be feeling for Carson.
derekshank
Should be an interesting match-up if he's back by Week 3. Might take a little of the pressure off Carson. And by that, I mean the pressure we would be feeling for Carson. No joke. The guy seems like he's a machine out there... but he'll be feeling it whether he shows it or not. When he was asked this off-season if there was one game he was targeting to be ready for he said "Pittsburgh... there." He's been looking forward to that games since he was in the tunnel. If I were a Steelers fan, I'd be pretty worried about starting the season 0-3. HA!
Stripes
I'm still not sure Miami will have what it takes to beat Pittsburgh on the road. I hope Ben's ready to play by week three. I want to beat them at their best.
derekshank
I'm still not sure Miami will have what it takes to beat Pittsburgh on the road. I don't think I can agree with you on this one. Pittsburgh lost Bettis, Randle El, and Chris Hope. They are weaker than they were last year.Add the fact that Hines Ward might not play... and if he does won't be 100%.All of those factors made Pittsburgh beatable, especially considering they are "champions" and everyone is gunning for them. Now... Charlie Batch is going to be their starting QB, and they don't have much time to prepare for it... I think they are in for a long day.Culpepper may not be Carson Palmer... but I'll take a slightly less mobile Culpepper over Charlie Batch every single day of the week. The Dolphins still have something to prove, and will want to do it in front of the whole nation.
Stripes
I don't think I can agree with you on this one.Understandably so. It should be a close game either way. Pittsburgh lost Bettis, Randle El, and Chris Hope. They are weaker than they were last year.I'm in the minority on this board, but I don't expect any of those losses to hurt the Steelers very much if at all. Bettis was probably the biggest loss, and he really didn't play all that much. Staley is a downgrade, so you're right... they are weaker... but I don't think it'll be by much.Add the fact that Hines Ward might not play... and if he does won't be 100%.All of those factors made Pittsburgh beatable, especially considering they are "champions" and everyone is gunning for them. Now... Charlie Batch is going to be their starting QB, and they don't have much time to prepare for it... I think they are in for a long day.Batch has played quite a few games for the Steelers... I don't think the loss of preperation will hurt them too badly. They'll still run the crap out of the ball, and I'm not sold on Miami's defense.but I'll take a slightly less mobile Culpepper over Charlie Batch every single day of the week. The day I disagree with THAT is the day I am banned from this message board. Spain
I hope he plays, the guy will get knocked out in the first qaurter. they dont have us game planned anymore. The rest of the leauge cant just pitch and catch to the TE. Sam eill hold the linethey cant run on us. Glass man is going to have to throw. We all know he reallly isnt all that. This D is going to feed oon him! Welcome to The Joker D. Water boy is the guy that is going to get all the opurtunities. J Smith Finally has the pass rush from the other side. Our pass rush is finally in place. These guys are going well above double digit sacks. The third in long will be awsome with all these multple blitzing LBs. Thats when we will how are 3-4 is going to look.
UK Bengal
and if you understand the last post you will have no problem with british humor I think what the man from spain is saying is that the D will be much improved whomever steps under center for pitt I would prefer it to be ben then the 22.6 qb raiting in the superbowl wont be his worst ever it will be week 3get well soon ben because mentaly after week 3 you will be a nervous ball of jelly
derekshank
Batch has played quite a few games for the Steelers... I don't think the loss of preperation will hurt them too badly. They'll still run the crap out of the ball, and I'm not sold on Miami's defense.Understandable... but I'm not sold on Pittsburgh's offense. Here's what Bettis said about them."They may have to rely on Ben Roethlisberger's arm a lot more than they have the prior two years. ... I'm not certain about the running game, how consistent it will be churning out the tough yards. Obviously, with myself not being there, that poses a question."Does Bettis think too highly of himself? Sure... but they don't have an effective short yardage back (which has been the definition of Steelers football) and I think the loss of Randle El kills their trick play threat. As for Hope... he's the guys that allowed Polamalu to run around the way he does. It will be interesting to see what effect his absense has. I think Chris Chambers will have a big game against them. When it's all said and done, I think Miami's a bit over-rated... but without Big Ben there, they're the better team. Just my opinion. We'll find out Thursday.
HoTbOy
GO FINS, like I said when BRoethlisberger got hurt, I would never wish for a player to get hurt, but since he can't play for other reasons, karma is good...CBatch sucks...Xmas came early this year.... BengalChamps
I have had an appendectomy. He will definately be out a week, but beyond that I'm not sure. His youth and athleticism should help him to return quickly. He may play in week 2. It will be FUN to see them play without him for a while! HoosierCat
New line is finally up on the game. Pitt went from 6.5 point favorites to 3 point favs. So they get home field advantage and that's it.

NYBengalfan
Come on now. I understand your sentiment, but how about not stooping to their level, eh?Awwwww party pooper! What fun is it if you can't sh*t back on those buttmonkey's?Pro's and ConsPro's:We'd look a lot more classier!Con's:To Steeler fans...... in their dictionary.........classy(kla-ss-ee)- (1)to make sense and not be delusional...aka sober. (2) to act like a p***y.you know what. f**k it, if BR is not back for 9-24 and we slaughter them, lets shove it in their face!!!!!!!!!! membengal
surgery on appendix possible....here come the excuses....I hope he's out for week three, and we stomp them. Then I get to tell all the Steeler fans I know that having Ben in the game "wouldn't have made any difference in the outcome".Just like they did after Palmer's injury.Just back from three days away, and THIS post gets a big thumbs up from me. Audible laughter. Job well done Sox...

derekshank
Is it time to retire this one to the NFL Forum yet?Yeah, probably. But since it hasn't yet...I heard them talking last night on ESPN about how Hines Ward had this same procedure 2 years ago. He missed 2 games, and admitted that he wasn't 100% when he did come back... and it really depends a lot on your pain tolerance. I don't expect Ben to have a very good game against us when we play him... and I'm sure it will serve as a nice little excuse for their 0-3 start.
