just look at what bengals are doing so far in free agency nothing but s**t which is the same s**t every year

god i wish mike brown would sell the team to some one that would love to make the bengals a winning franchise.

i believe we have a good team going into the 06 season but we also do need so major help at a few postions which it seems we are not addressing as of yet.

and what is the lastest about sam adams i believe that he would help the bengals along with other great players still left through free agency and also the upcomming draft.

if we do address the needs on mostly defense i can see the bengals going deep into the playoff in 06

but this kills me to say this but i think the browns might be a scary team this year

Hmm.

The team has not quite been "doing the same thing" since Marvin came along.

It's an 11-5 team that needs some holes (particularly on defense and at backup qb) patched, not a complete overhaul.

Also, it's only been a week. Give it some time.

Allright Forrest Gump, let me explain this to ya

We were already a playoff team with our current roster. We are not the Cleveland Browns, and we don't need Lavar Arrington at six different positions.

Without jumping too hard into FA, we have managed our cap and are setting ourself up to be competitive for years to come.

How many times in a row have the Skins went this way and how many title do they have.

Sorry, but this is a stupid thread, post, and you just wasted some of my time <_<

Chatman and Jackson are upgrades, and will add veteran stability and will produce if they stay healthy.

If there's an answer out there in FA at DT or DE outside of someone like Adams, please let us know who they are.

As we all know the Bengals' make more moves later in the year versus the first round - actually suprised they signed two vet players already who are worthwhile.

My biggest concerns are the lack of off-season improvement on the d-line and 0-line...looks like the draft will address those areas heavily, as well as CB.

Having Jackson and Madeiu in the backfield will help this team, just hope they both can stay healthy the majority of the time. We'll see a noticeable improvement there I think. This defense really missed Madeiu badly.

I personally liked the way Grady Jackson looked this year...granted I only watched the Pack a couple of times, but he was an impact player up the middle. Any additional DT will free the Bengals to really have the ability to grab the best available athlete at #24. Imagine if a guy like Vernon Davis, Santonio Holmes, Tye Hill, etc. happened to slide to us. It would be ashame to be forced to take a Gabe Watson simply because we have to fill a hole.

Ideally for me, the team would sign Jackson or Adams (at a reasonable cost), grab Griese or Martin, and

get at least Levi or Steinbach locked up for a few more years.

You mean like HIMSELF? How stupid are you? Mike Brown wants to have a winning franchise, and he's doing it the right way. Did the Patriots run out and sign a bunch of big name free agents to win their games? NO. Their lone signing? Reche Caldwell. Heck, our signing of Chatman is almost as big a signing as this one. Instead they spent years building through the draft and turned into a perenial winner. Would you rather we went the route of the 49rs, the Redskins, etc. who spend spend spend and then have a few great years followed by cap hell and utter failure?

Well, I've had a pretty queasy feeling about '06 ever since Kimo von D*cklesswonderhoffen snapped Carson's knee in two. So far, it looks like he's coming along fine, tho, and frankly that's better news than if we'd signed Arrington, Abraham, Pickett and Bernard combined.

As for FA so far, they've done pretty much the same thing they usually do, which is to nibble around the edges. We haven't lost anyone worth crying over, or gained anyone worth cheering about.

At this point, it's all about o-line extensions for the Bengals.

Couldn't have said it better !!! I added Carson to specify...

I'll cheer the Dexter Jackson signing.....and the Jon Kitna departure.

Because we've handled our business in this manner, we have the best cap situation of any playoff team in 2005.

So all it takes for my fellow fans to forget about an 11-5 season is a quiet offseason? :(

There's this little thing we will be doing later called the draft...

Could be. He's old and he has yet to impress any other teams enough to get signed for the money he wants.

I agree. Draft.

Possibly, if they can make all those free agents gel into a real team.

The Browns might be decent... but there is no way that the term "scary" is applicable. They've made a bunch of moves... effectively decimating a lot of cap space that probably could have gone to better use.

They are going to be better than last year... but let's not go crazy.

Are they better at O-line? No doubt. 2 very solid moves with Bentley and Shafher... and a decent move with Hallen.

Are they better at WR? No. They signed Jurevicius (very good move) but lost Antonio Bryant, and probably won't have Braylon Edwards back until later on. At best, they stayed level.

Are the better ar TE? Well, they lost Aaron Shea, and there is no guarantee that that Winslow will be ready... or will ever be the player they expected him to be. So, that was probably a downgrade.

Better on the D-Line? They signed Ted Washington... they guy is 38 years old!!! Please. non-factor.

Are they better at LB? Willie McGinest is good... but he's 35, and is not a long term answer (and his production has been slipping with the Patriots anyway).

Are the better at Punter? no question. they upgraded...

...but for all the money they have spent, do these signings really strike the fear of God into anyone? No.

They are in the news everyday with another signing... so in a society where the big moves really catch our attention... it seems like they Browns are working their way up the food chain... but they were a bad team last year... and these moves will merely get their heads above water for maybe one season, if that. My prediction is that they will miss the playoffs again.

Then, to add insult to injury, the over-the-hill players they signed will start collecting social security... and they will realize that this was not the wisest use of the their resources.

FA period is still ongoing and there is still the DRAFT!!!

I heard Kellen Winslow, your favorite "Soldier" is going to try hang gliding during preseason, and if that doesn't get him out of having to get on the field at all, he's going to jump out of a perfectly good airplane and pretend he's a paratrooper. If that doesn't hurt him, he's going to fake it.

I think the Browns will be improved and Frye having a year under his belt will help. I honestly see them doing what Marvin did here... Bring in some solid players with leadership and playoff experience and then build through the draft. They are in a good position for the draft this year and those solid players will school up the new ones. Give them a few years and the signings this year won't matter much, but who they draft will.

WHODEY !!!
