ArmyBengal Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Once again, I understand the point, but just can't see the organization doing it. Krentzel started a bunch of games for the Bears and while he didn't go out and WIN the games, he didn't lose them either. Then again, our defense isn't going to win games for is either so who the hell knows... WHODEY !!! Quote
TecmoFever Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 This is from Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com:On a day his client visited Oakland, one of the agents for McCown said it isn’t a fit for either side. But chairs are starting to fill up and the music won’t play forever. The Redskins’ Patrick Ramsey still doesn’t have a team, the Lions’ Joey Harrington is calling for a trade in the wake of the JON KITNA SIGNING, and former Raider Kerry Collins is on the loose. All those players look to be too pricey at the moment and they may feel Cincinnati is a dead-end because of the presence of Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Palmer. But how they’re feeling in a week may be different if they think they’ll be able to be the starter for the Bengals if Palmer can’t start the early games. Yet McCown, the Cardinals’ third-round pick four years ago, won’t feel differently. Rick Smith, one of McCown’s agents who dealt with the Bengals on Sage Rosenfels, says McCown is in a different tier than the Bengals are seeking in price and playing time. “I think they’re still browsing,” said Tom Mills, Martin’s agent late Tuesday afternoon. “We left it at when they’re ready to talk, we’ll talk. We haven’t yet, but I think we will. I don’t think it will be long. I think later in the week it will be clarified a little more.” Quote
TJJackson Posted March 16, 2006 Author Report Posted March 16, 2006 well of COURSE the Agent is saying "mo money mo money mo money"With apologies to Michael Biehn in the movie "Terminator": thats what they do. thats ALL they do.Big money now is always Plan A. But there is a Plan B, and I believe I have described it. Plan B still calls for as much money as can be gotten, albeit it is less..... Quote

The_Next_Big_Thing Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 What about getting Harrington into stripes? Quote
kingwilly Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 No Harrington...simply not very good...a bust on the Cade McNown level. Quote
AMC Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 McCown took that job knowing with 99% cetainty he would be the starter....Sorry Jon...Wonder what Kit thinks about this??? Quote
Ox Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Well, I guess Detroit is ready for another go of rotating QB's. I say Kit starts the year, Josh finishes. Either that or they'll keep flip floppin. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 The Bengals will sign whichever scrub QB comes cheapest. That's not meant as a "Mikey is cheap" knock, just that it's pretty clear that as far as the backup QB spot is concerned they are not prepared to pay much above the minimum NFL wage (if that). My $0.02: screw it. As far as signing another scrub QB, why bother? We have Krenzel and Johnson and they're about as good as anyone else floating around out there now. Time to move on. If they really-oh-truly-oh are interested in Arrington or Adams, go get 'em. If not, stick FA on the back burner, except for signing what ST types you need to cover our own losses, and get cracking on o-line extensions. Quote
walshfan Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Ever have the feeling they arent really doing anything right now except reading what the Enquirer writes ?? The Brown family is probably all at Mike's watching the NCAA basketball tourney!!!!! Quote

BTG Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 A few years ago, Matt Millen took control of a struggling Lions franchise and responded by turning things from bad to abysmal. Just to mention a few of his shenanigans since his reign began: - He drafted wide receivers in the first round of three straight drafts, despite having many other positions that needed attention. - When the team didn't win, he acted like a spoiled child. He fired the coach and insisted he was to blame for the losing rather than accept any responsibility himself. All that was missing was an oversized lollypop and propeller hat.- So far this off-season, his free agency "plan" has been to tie up around seven million dollars in three backup quarterbacks (Jon Kitna/Luke McCown/Shaun King), even though he's said that Joey Harrington (a player that approximately 90% of the Lions' fan base despises) is still the starter. Who knows what's next on the agenda. Possibly trading a draft pick for Patrick Ramsey or Chad Pennington or maybe even trying to lure Ryan Leaf out of retirement. Nothing would surprise me at this point. So here's the question: Is Matt Millen the Isiah Thomas of the NFL or is Isiah Thomas the Matt Millen of the NBA? Quote
TJJackson Posted March 16, 2006 Author Report Posted March 16, 2006 Oh dear Lord.I officially HATE the freaking Detroit Lions. My two top choices were to sign McCown or re-sign Kitna (I actually like the guy in stripes, unlike many here)The freakin Lions sign them both.ARRRGGGGHHHH Quote
kingwilly Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Millen's signings are a bit baffling...I mean could you imagine being in the room when he has to pitch this to owenership???"ok, Ok....you guys...you're gonna really like this move...see...this guy is a quality guy who addresses a critical need....blah blah blah......and the guy is King...uh, Kitna...uh, I mean, McCown...uh...let's just sign them all!" Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Once again reconfirms my belief that Millen is the biggest ASSHAT in the NFL and that Kitna is a little uncomfortable with this signing... WHODEY !!! Quote
