Stripes Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Damn but this is depressing. Rosenfels...Martin...Griese.Frerotte...Mitchelll...O'Donnel...Akili...Kitna...Boomer v2.0...Covington...Justin...Schroder...Klingler...Another year, another examination of the (few) merits of this or that scrub QB. Thank you Kimo von Freaking D**klesswonderhoffen. On that topic... we haven't heard anything recently on Palmer. If he is on schedule he should be starting straight plane running in the next 10 days. I would think that the Bengals would want to publicize that if it is true. Keep your ears open for any updates. Good call. Let us pray all this conversation isn't needed. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Hobson's latest column is on Palmer. Nothing new except that he was supposedly at Walters' wedding walking without crutches. FWIW. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 OK, lets just bring Kitna back and stop all this dreaming about players that will never come here due to the fact they will demand to much money !!!If we are going to keep talking about Brooks and Collins, then I'm going to stay firm on believing Ryan Pickett is about to sign with us as well and we all know that isn't going to happen in our life times !!!WHODEY !!! TNBT, believe me I DON'T WANT TO, however, I'm a realist and with the way FA has been going and seeing the contracts these D-Linemen have been getting is anything but encouraging !!! Oh well...WHODEY !!! Quote
HairOnFire Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 I didn't want Kitna back BEFORE Palmer was injured. Still don't. I didn't want Sage for one minute, and it sounds like the Bengals didn't want him for much longer. Turn the page on Sage. Jamie Martin? I've liked that idea ever since others mentioned it weeks ago. But it's just as fair to say that I don't love the idea and IMHO it won't be a disaster if the Bengals pass on him in favor of a mid round draft pick. Quote

Just making the point that Kitna has as much if not more of a chance to come back seeing all the money getting slung around the league. This by no means is an indication on my part that I have a new sudden love fest with Kitna. I have been an advocate of him hitting the bricks for a while now. That being said, there is no one out there (That won't cost us big $$) that I care to have any more than Kitna. Quite frankly, they all make me more than a little nervous if you tell me they have to fill in for Carson for more than a couple games.WHODEY !!! Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Hobson...Various reports have them working out former Louisville and Ravens quarterback Chris Redman on Monday. Redman, a third-round pick in the 2000 draft, has been saddled with a variety of injuries and is trying to get back into the league at age 28.Oh sweet lord no...no...no...somebody wake me up from this nightmare! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 You've got to be kidding me, this is the best they could come up with ??Holy hell...WHODEY !!! Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Next up on the mediocrity train...Scary thing is I'd actually take him over Redman... Quote

FWIW.Best news of the off-season for the Bengals. Our franchise Qb's walking without assistance in March! Woo hoo! Quote
derekshank Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 This shouldn't be unexpected. He should be straight plane running by next week if he is on schedule for his injury rehab. Quote
kingwilly Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Given the scrubs QB's as reviewed above, I'm starting to warm to the idea of going for a mid-round QB....at least the guy will have a top-flight line and awesome weaponry...how can that be a downer for a young QB, trying to break into the league? Quote
Ox Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 The fact remains that we will not land anyone of Greise or Collins stature simply because they know 2-4 games is all they're gonna get (barring another catastrophe).I say sign Martin, and pray for Carson's speedy recovery. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 While we're on the subject...no deal for Jon-boy yet...Lions | Kitna leaves without signing contractMon, 13 Mar 2006 16:43:26 -0800Mike O'Hara, of the Detroit News, reports free agent QB Jon Kitna visited the Detroit Lions and left without signing a contract. Kitna said there were no discussions about being the No. 1 quarterback, but said the team was seeking someone with leadership characteristics. "I was really excited," said Kitna, who said he spent time with offensive coordinator Mike Martz about the offense. "They want somebody in here who can bring some leadership to the team and character and competitiveness and toughness and things. They thought I fit that mode." Kitna added that he doesn't feel that he's under a deadline to sign. Quote
kingwilly Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 could be that Jon-Jon ends up with no team...hmmm...can we just leave a bunch of messages at the Bengals main office # about this terrible Jamie Martin visit? When are the saints going to freaking release Brooks so we can grab him???? dammit........ Quote
Spain Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 If I was brooks Id sign a one year deal hear cheap to showcase my talent on a real O. the thing is do the Bengals want to go that way? Quote
turningpoint Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 maybe, maybe not, but i think they don't release brooks, he'll battle for his # spot with the saints, apperently drew brees is demanding $10million a year, and the saints are the closest t offering it, but they wont give him that much, so if the saints don't sign brees, look for them to draft lienart and keep brooks. HoosierCat Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 could be that Jon-Jon ends up with no team...hmmm...No deal with the Jets yet, apparently. My local rag says they met but apparently the Jets are still debating signing him versus trading for Ramsey.Meanwhile, per Hobson, the Lions have emerged as a possible landing spot for Martin thanks to his old coach Martz being the OC in Detroit now. Also, Hobson confirmed they worked out Chris Redman yesterday. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Updating previous reports, Hobson now cites an unidentified NFL source (Kitna's agent?) and says that Jon is "one the verge" of signing with the Jets. Or the Lions. One of the two. Any minute now. Maybe by noon. Why do I read that and hear this:Hey Bengals, I'm really going to sign with the Jets. Or the Lions. I'll really do it! See, my pen is getting closer to thnat contract. It's getting closer. Closer. It's touching the paper! Touching! Touching! I'm starting to write the "J"!! Last chance! Very, very last chance! Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 buried a few paragraphs into Hobson's latest, an ode to Kitna...The Bengals are still searching for that guy to replace Kitna as Carson Palmer’s backup with Jamie Martin’s visit not appearing to end in a signing.Oh boy. Paging Chris Redman...Redman to the front desk please... Quote
