I'll admit, when i saw that Dexter Lawrence wanted a trade, I immediately thought, get on the damn phone!!! Then reality sunk in and I realized, that even if they did give up some picks, they would NEVER give him the new contract he is looking for. They would try and make him play out the 2 years left. Also, Mikey and family dont guarantee anything more than the 1st year, and the reason why Sexy Dexy wants a trade is because he wants a new market rate deal with guaranteed money (his deal has no guarantees left).

I dont want to turn this into the draft thread either, but I believe Styles fits what the Bengals still need the most. The size and numbers seem similar between him and Reese, but I'll take Styles who was credited with only 2 missed tackles all last season (Hell, Knight and Barrett had more than 2 missed tackles each game) and a converted Safety who is excellent in coverage. Thats one of the biggest holes in the defense, and has been my fantasy football cheat code for the last couple of years (Streaming any TE playing against the Bengals, even a 2nd string TE) I'd trade up for him, but the Bengals wouldn't.

Allen might help. Hard to get excited about it, but I fully understand that the Bengals will never get top tier guys because these cheap fu*ks still never want to guarantee anything more than the 1st year of a contract. Top players want security.

Good extension. I'd rather have continuity along the Oline and Brown is at least average. Potentially having 3 starters on the Oline as free agents next offseason worried me. Still should have given Risner 2 or 3 years, but it is what it is.

I hope you're right, but after the past couple of offseasons, he has some built up animosity, so he will have that extra drive for at least 2 games a season. Can't discount anger as motivation.

I think you have to draft best OT available at #10. Need a Brown replacement next year, but also someone who can step in if there is an injury because Bengals have no depth at Tackle and play in a division with Killer Pass Rushers. #ProtectJoeBurrow

That doesnt mean it was great, and 3 starters Brown, Risner and Karras are only signed through this year. They have no decent backups at Tackle so if Brown or Mims get hurt, Burrow is screwed. Yeah Bengals, go ahead and draft all defense, and ignore the Oline, because you made bad defensive picks recently, need to re-draft same positions, and let a double digit sack guy get away for nothing (Raiders got 2 Firsts for Crosby).

Yup, some teams (Ravens) will trade for a great pass rusher like Crosby, and some teams will dick around a great pass rusher and not guarantee more than a year at a time, letting who is widely considered the #1 Free Agent available, get away, and then lie and say that Pass Rush is the biggest priority. Sell the f'n team so the new owner can GET REAL Football people in charge.

I don't have faith in the Bengals signing anybody of quality, and they definitely wont improve long term. They will throw out 1 year deals, or they will try to sign these guys to a 3 year deal with only the 1st year guaranteed. You cant keep doing business that way. Nobody is going to want to come. Players will go to whoever GUARANTEES the most money. Not to be cut next year with no pay when they are a year older.

Who's capable of doing that? Mikey? Katie? Duke? Troy? You have to hire experienced professionals, who know the cap and how to work it. Problem nowadays is every moron (see Brown Family) has access to Google and ChatGPT and thinks they can do far more than their abilities allow them too.
