I agree with everything you said, however, I think you are missing the point! The concern isn’t how ‘good’ he is, it’s his ability to stay healthy and ON THE FIELD! Tyler Eifert could have been as good as Gronkowski, but he was too injury prone! Brady missed a season with ACL but the Pats STILL went 11-5. Outside of that one season and a game or so every now and then, he was healthy and durable. Yes he was benefitted by the coddling rules the NFL changed but if he had been injury prone things would have been much different!

Personally, I can see the logic of having a winning team like the Bears and not wanting to take a chance on giving up Williams for Burrow, UNLESS Williams was willing to be the backup! Burrow’s injury track record is what it is! Even when Burrow WAS on the field all year, like 2024, he led the league in passing and still didn’t make the playoffs. So his ‘greatness’ is no guarantee unless management is willing to build a team around him! Remember the Eifert fiasco. Having a great player is fine as long as he’s on the field!

I don’t see it that way at all and before my last post you spoke like you knew that he was whining and indicated so. Now you’re back pedaling and admit that you don’t know. We AREN’T management and/or coaches. We’re just couch coaches, at best, with opinions, and that’s what these forums are for, to allow us to vent and express how much better we think we could do things! I think Joe knows how much pull he has with this franchise and demonstrated as much with Chase and Tee without throwing the franchise under the bus! Again, I believe that’s what he’s doing here but only Joe knows for certain. In the meantime we can agree to disagree and I doubt whether Joe gives a rip what either one of us believe!

The smallest scouting team in the NFL is certainly NOT something to be proud of that’s for sure. However, it sometimes comes down to an eye for talent! In 1971 PB was HC and primarily the head scout! Two of Brown’s scouting team members were, believe it or not, Mike Brown and Bill Walsh! They were the ones who discovered Kenny Anderson, playing at a Division III college in Illinois!

I don’t see it at all that way! I think he was diplomatically telling the franchise to fix it! When you lead the league in passing, with a statistical MVP season, also having the season sack leader, and a receiver who wins the triple crown, and don’t even make the playoffs, because of a hapless anemic defense, then, the next year, you sit on the sidelines and watch a guy come in, and for 3 games in a row score 30+ points and go 1-2, and almost 0-3, BECAUSE of the SAME hapless defense, I think you have a right to complain! He’s a WINNER, for crying out loud, and he’s playing at a ‘winning’ level, but NOT winning! IF he had thrown management and the defense pointedly and openly ‘under the bus’ it would have been a disaster for the locker room! As far as defenses go, it’s one thing to go out and play your tail off, pressuring the QB, making tackles, covering receivers like you’re supposed to, and just get BEAT because the other team played tremendous offensive football is one thing. That isn’t/wasn’t the case here!

1. The media always LOVES to ‘sensationalize’! 2. The first interception was definitely on him, the second one was a tipped pass that happens to QBs around the league. He did come right back and drove the team down the field to a TD putting the team within one score to go ahead with time left to do so. 3. That presser wasn’t post game! You would expect frustration after the game, not several days later. 4. My opinion of the presser was an indirect ultimatum to the franchise! ‘Fix things or else!’ As always, time will tell!

Thing is, when you draft, it’s often a crap shoot. Eifert, Denmark, William Jackson, John Ross, Billly Price, Jonah Williams Probably the most recent one and biggest one is Jermaine Burton!

Not really sure why Zimmer was never considered, but that’s just it. i know it’s the forums and it’s the place to come to speculate and couch coach, and I GET that, but if we are looking forward, for me, I try to look at what I think management will do, not what I think SHOULD be done, which, with management, it normally isn’t positive, BUT . . . all we can do is work with the hand we’re dealt and hope . . . one day, they get it right?!?

As bleak as this franchise has been, looking forward to the draft is all the hope we have . . . right?!? We know that most of these picks should be defensive players but do we trust management to do the right thing??? What’s ironic is outside of Munoz, Burrow, Higgins, and Chase (all Division I colleges), the best draft pick this franchise made was Kenny Anderson, who went to a Division III college!!! But then again, that was PB, one of the most brilliant minds in football!

We VENT! We VENT some more! Then, we actually VENT even more! Yet . . . for us ole timers, we KNOW what the Brown family WILL do . . . yet . . . . we hold tight to that minuscule, slim to none chance, that, after 57 years, they will FINALLY realize, that what they’ve been doing hasn’t worked for decades, so let’s try something else! After all, if you want to stay a fan, what else can we do?? Another season goes by with status quo . . . but there’s always next year, and maybe THAT will be the year the Browns turn it around! ”Excpect the worse, hope for the best!” Maybe they should put that statement up over the doorway, at Paycor, that the Bengals leave out of to go to the field and the players can tap it on the way out?
