  1. Lotta rust, especially on Joe. No real surprise. Hopefully doesn’t take too much time more to knock it off.
  2. I’d say the O is a trash fire but there’s not even any fire. They’re just trash atm.
  3. New punter not impressing
  4. We suck. Season over. 0-17 incoming. Bring on the draft!
  5. Inactives: Ossai Chase Brown DJ Ivey Carman Trey Hill
  6. Week 3 note: Rams WR Cooper Kupp will miss the game. Going on IR for at least 4 weeks. https://www.threads.net/@adamschefter/post/Cw-vznfpuNc/?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
  7. Bengals make it official: https://www.bengals.com/news/joe-burrow-contract-extension-2023 Well, it’s a step up from hogs at the trough…
  8. Our turn with the blood demon? Heh.
  9. Uncle Sam just got paid too.
  10. Any given Sunday strikes again!
  11. I guarantee they extend Chase, especially now. Re Reader, yeah, I can see it coming down to pick one: him or Tee. Reader might have an edge due to them having more potential talent at WR than NT.
  12. Well, for one thing, as far as I can tell from the limited info yet available, calling it a five-year extension is technically accurate, but it’s five years from the end of 2024. This keeps him in stripes through 2029, thus the five years are 2025-2029. The last two years of his existing deal, this year and 2024, will have been reworked as part of this, so as far as spreading out the cap hits and enabling them to sign other players it’s a seven-year deal. Burrow was already going to count for $40 million or so against the cap in 2023-24 and by the time we get to ‘25 the cap will probably be over $300 million. I’m interested in the details too but I don’t see a big issue so far with keeping the core. Will we lose some guys? Probably, can’t pay everyone. But so far I think they’ll be ok.
  13. Also, I think once you are extended, you are most definitely no longer the New Guy.
  14. I was in a work meeting all night so of course it hit now. you’re welcome.
  15. Too early mock from Trepasso here: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2024-nfl-mock-draft-shedeur-sanders-to-49ers-six-total-qbs-from-loaded-class-land-in-round-1/ Has the Bengals taking OT JC Latham in yet another bid to get RT right. Mel had him 10th overall on his big board.
  16. The contract extension saga continues with Rapoport saying that Burrow will be extended before kickoff Sunday. https://www.si.com/nfl/bengals/news/report-bengals-expected-sign-joe-burrow-to-contract-extension-week-1-against-browns
  17. Do you need a house? Well, Fischer Homes is now the official homebuilder of the Cincinnati Bengals. Maybe they can give Joe a house or three in lieu of some signing bonus money? But wait! There's more! Because you can never have too many ways to get sh*tfaced drunk at an NFL game, Kickstand Cocktails has partnered with the Bengals to...well, see aforementioned "sh*tfaced." Choose between four flavors of "spicy vodka canned cocktail": Roasted Jalapeno Cucumber (mild), Charred Pineapple Poblano (medium), Smashed Raspberry Serrano (medium) and Torched Peach Chipotle (hot). I think I'd rather have bleach on the rocks, but hey, kids today, get off my lawn, where's the onion for my belt, etc. Anyhow, mo' money for Joe!
  18. FWIW cbs sports' picks are split 4-4 and espn's are 3-3 so far. Prisco picked the Browns so we got that going for us.
  19. I’ve had this pencilled in as a loss for a while. Would be thrilled to be wrong, but it’s away, it’s the Clowns (who have had their number for a while now) and Burrow has been robbed of yet another camp and preseason.
  20. Nick Bosa, 5 years, $170 million, $122.5 million guaranteed. Highest paid defensive player ever.
  21. I’m not *too* worried about 2024. Right now they have more than $66 million in cap space to work with, and that’s with Burrow already counting for nearly $30 million with his fifth year option. So any new deal shouldn’t bite too deeply into that 66 number. Lots of moving parts tho. I am sure we will have plenty to complain about.
  22. Probably like always they’re going to keep some guys and lose some guys. Chase I have no doubt will be retained. Tee they seems committed to keeping, we’ll see if they can do a deal. They’ve been pouring a lot of draft capital into the secondary so I’d bet Chido will get paid, but not here. Reader (and Hill!) are both coming up to FA fast and both going would leave them with 0 NTs. I expect both $$$ and picks to be thrown at that sooner rather than later.
  23. Some PS moves yesterday: The Bengals today made the following player moves: Signed TE Zach Gentry and DE Garrett Nelson to the practice squad. Gentry (6-8, 265), a fifth-year player out of the University of Michigan, originally was a fifth-round pick of Pittsburgh in 2019. He played in 40 regular-season games (26 starts) for the Steelers, catching 39 passes for 303 yards. Nelson (6-4, 245), a rookie out of the University of Nebraska, was a college free agent signee of Miami this year. He spent the offseason and training camp with the Dolphins, and recorded five tackles with one sack in three preseason games. Released LB Tyler Murray from the practice squad. Murray, a rookie out of the University of Memphis, originally signed with the Bengals as a college free agent in May. The Bengals' practice squad currently is at the 16-player limit.
  24. Well, if you believe a deal is going to get done before the start of the season, predicting it will happen today is pretty much a no-brainer since the season starts tomorrow! So yeah, I guess we're here. Let's hope it happens.
