  1. After a hedge trimming mishap yesterday where I damn near sliced my finger off, I can attest that had that been my meat instead of my finger, I might have passed out and fell off the damn ladder.
  2. I saw that write as well and hope that bears fruit for the both of them. Maybe Taylor telling Yoshi he had to get much better to stick in the league, was his attempt to motivate him though. He was only targeted 25 times last year and caught the ball 60% of the time. That slightly lower than both Chase and Higgins. Of those 15 receptions, 4 were for TD’s and 11 were for 1st downs. You could certainly argue that had his targets increased those numbers could have increased. You could also argue the opposite but you get my point. I love Yoshi but I still don’t think he’s in a position to do more this year than continue working his craft. Ja’Marr, Higgins, the RB’s and even Gisicki and other slot WR’s are going to get the majority of the targets. Minus an injury to either Chase or Higgins, I don’t see this being his “break out” year. I do still expect him to make plays when given the opportunity and think he makes the WR depth a plus for the team. Bigger problems than that to have.
  3. “Don’t you put that evil on me Ricky Bobby !!”
  4. Let the countdown begin. 5 weeks from today for the first preseason football game of the season. Not trying to wish the summer away by any stretch, but I'm ready to get after it. By "get after it" I mean sitting in my old man chair.
  5. I was taking another look at the free agent players we brought in and I really am excited about this group. RT Trent Brown DT Sheldon Rankins SS Vonn Bell RB Zack Moss FS Geno Stone TE Mike Gesicki QB Logan Woodside I'm completely thrilled with the thought of Stone and Bell as the starting safeties. Battle competing for reps looks really good to me from a depth perspective as well. Gesicki might be the guy I'm the most excited about. Dude is going to be a difference maker at TE. While there are still only so many balls to go around, I think he gets time in the slot, which makes this offense more interesting. I think he's going to have a great year with Burrow. Wish they would have signed him to a two year deal. Trent Brown at RT also has me more geeked up about the o-line. Mims coming waiting in the wings is exciting as well. I really hope Volson can take the next step this year, they really need him to. Cappa needs to stay healthy, along with everyone. I think Rankins is a downgrade from Reader, but think he will suffice and have a solid year. I don't dislike the rotation at the DT position with the addition of Jenkins in the 2nd round as well. Zack Moss, while an uncertainty, is still intriguing to me as well. If we get the Zack Moss that started 8 games when Jonathan Taylor went down for the Colts, we are set. Couple that with Chase Brown getting more snaps and that could be a nice RB combo.
  6. As much as I rail against public funds being used, I won't argue with the above. It's exactly why the Bengals won't be going anywhere.
  7. The Panthers just got an assload of community funds as well. I get it and all. Just don’t like it.
  8. I think that 99.9% of the time I see a picture of Burrow and the way he dresses, I think he looks like a clown. Not that I give a shit what he looks like, as long as he wins on game day, but just saying is all. Also, this is coming from a 54 year old man whose fashion sense tops out at Under Armour underwear.
  9. COB doing man shit. Respect !!
  10. A lot of really solid responses to this point… lol
  11. I watched the interview that Dan Hoard did recently with Houshmanzadah and our new WR Burton. It was a pretty good interview and listening to them speak was worth the time of the video IMO. Couple of notes... You can hear the youth in Burton because he sounds like my 17 year old, who always says "Bro". TJ made a comment that made me think about the Bengals, in that he said when people think of the Bengals, they think of Chad first and then him. I found that interesting and think it depends of how old the person is or at least depends on which era of Bengals are we talking about. Personally, I don't think of Houshmanzadah all that much when the Bengals come to mind, at least not at the top. Going back to the 70's and 80's most of the time for me, I think of Kenny Anderson when I think of the Bengals. I remember my dad ALWAYS talking about Anthony Munoz, so he is another name that come to my mind quickly. Esiason, Dillion, Curtis, Collinsworth, Riley, Parrish, Krumrie, Lapham, Fulcher, Palmer, Brooks, Atkins, Green and more. If i'm thinking about the resurgence of the Bengals, it's definitely Chad, but MY personal #1 I think about is Kenny Anderson. Guess it's because I'm older and my first real recollections as a young boy are of Kenny Anderson playing QB. The new uniforms, the freezer bowl, the Bengals first Super Bowl appearance. All of that IS Kenny Anderson. Not to mention he really should be in the Hall of Fame. So what person comes to your mind first when you think of the Bengals?
  12. Just wanted to drop a Happy Father’s Day to all my fellow Dads on the board. Hope it’s a good day for you !!
  13. Tee isn’t stupid. The more prepared he is to have a massive season and get in sync with Burrow, the more it pays off for him in free agency next year. I never thought for one second he wasn’t going to collect that nearly $22 million for the season. The only way he doesn’t finish 2024 with the Bengals is if something catastrophic happens and then they trade him before the trade deadline. Minus that, I’m ready for what I believe will be a really good year for him. TEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!
  14. This really has become so much easier with the rookie wage scale. So happy for that.
  15. And they got Jenkins signed to his rookie deal as well. I think that just leaves Mims to get signed?
  16. I like their playing around with the line as well. The “Overload” package with Trent at RG and Mims at RT would be just a massive amount for opposing defenses to account for on the goal line or in short yardage situations.
  17. Happy to see Ted get even a single year more. As much as everyone seems to think our 7th rounder will be a starter some day, I would rather that later than sooner. Good for Ted. Top notch dude !!
  18. If you haven't been watching Lapham's podcasts, you are missing out. Today's had WR coach Troy Walters and they discussed what's been going on with that group and the approach. Pretty cool to hear the coach talk about the players and what they are doing at this point and moving forward. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1edPXSo9C8
  19. I was watching Lapham's new podcast, which is really good of course and noticed something as I was reading the WR blurbs. Check out the Velveeta commercial from 2010. The boy in the family is our very own Trenton Irwin, child actor. "Man, that's good" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_l-uUv_Fcj4
  20. Yeah great points again by both of you Hoosier and AMPHAR. It's easy to forget how tough it was to replace Houshmanzadah. Also agree with knowing Burrow, Chase and Higgins are massive together. They have young, developing players at all levels of the defense the way I see it. I remain hopeful, but skeptical at best. Something tells me WR may be a position getting addressed early in the draft in 2025.
  21. On a completely side note, see having nothing to do with anything being discussed here. I stumbled across my old Army footlocker, which I had almost forgotten about. Found my Super Bowl 16 program and the two tickets from when my dad and I went. Funny thing I noticed ?? The face value of those tickets was $40 bucks each for lower endzone tickets. Back then regular fans could attend the Super Bowl without taking out a second mortgage.
  22. All valid points. Nothing from me there.
  23. Still shocking that Parrish is rarely in the HOF conversation when it comes to Bengals as well. The number I read that makes this such a glaring omission is: "One of only 6 cornerbacks with at least 8 pro bowls and the only one of them that is NOT in the Pro Football Hall of Fame."
  24. Cooler heads should prevail with this one, but that's a good point Hoosier. Anyone still thinking it's feasible to extended both Higgins and Chase? If the Bengals had any interest in doing that, which they may have, the recent contracts have all but extinguished any thought of that happening. Can't have Burrow, Chase and Higgins eating up that much cap space.
