Some men, you just can't reach. "Cool Hand Luke" "Civil War" intro Guns and Roses Well done COB !!

In my opinion, is the lack of movement with a Higgins trade was not predicated on his performance falling in 2023. As I mentioned before, there was no team will to give him even Michael Pittman money, while simultaneously giving up the draft capital the Bengals were asking for. Again, Higgins will have the truck backed up this offseason by some team and it will surpass the Pittman deal. I would place a bet on that. While some may say, Higgins has never done "X", what he has done has been accomplished as the #2 WR playing next to Chase and in an offense with many receiving options. I'm not going to go looking, but I would be curious how many WR's have had over 3600 yards receiving, 24 TD's and averaging more than 14 yards per catch, while at the same time playing next to another WR as talented as Chase. He's also has had playoff success with over 450 receiving yards and another 3 TD's over two post season games. I agree that Chase's contract will have to hinge on the fact the Bengals could control him for a period of time and I would hope that would be taken into consideration if they should happen to do a new deal this season. Thing is, I don't expect that to happen. While I think they should get Chase extended, I'm betting on it happening right around this time next year. That being the case, I don't expect his overall contract, guaranteed money or per season average to be less than what we are thinking right at the moment. Not a chance the Bengals don't make him one of, if not the top paid WR in the game. For those solely thinking stats dictate that value (I am not) it will be interesting to see how his 4 year stat totals stack up to JJ, Lamb and Aiyuk seeing as how they signed their deals after their 4th year. In all honesty, I don't expect Chase to go anywhere. It would shock more if that happened. Just get him back to practicing and be ready for week 1.

In 4 years Aiyuk has 200 yards more than Chase. 4 less receiving TD’s. 10 more 1st down conversions. And slightly more yards per catch at 14.6 vs 13.9. Chase has basically equaled or surpassed Aiyuk in one fewer season. Anyone thinking Chase isn’t getting $30m plus per season just isn’t paying attention. The report also shows that had the 49er’s not been such cheap asses, they could have had the deal at $27m per season until they waited and other players signed extensions. Just an example of contracts going up even in a short amount of time. I get that there may not be many big deals between now and next offseason, but that price isn’t falling.
-
Well Aiyuk just got a new deal at $30 per year.
-
Considering that 12 years ago he bought the team for $1 billion, I’d say that’s a pretty good return on investment. We all should be so unfortunate…

Jackson was designated to return, so there's some silver lining.
-
Sucks for Jackson. I was hoping to see him this year.

I will have the DVR running for that one. It's ArmyBengal Jr.'s senior year in high school and we are opening the season in Indianapolis to watch his Texans take on the Colts. I have really grown to love the Texans over the years of my son rooting for them. Going to Indy and Houston with him is a lot of fun. I'm selfishly hoping he decides to stay close to home for college, so we can keep going to games together. He's a good kid !! However, if we wouldn't have been in Indy, we definitely would have been at the Bengals home opener.

Perrine's value "to me" was as a blocking back more than anything. More than that was just a bonus. That being said, he's a hell of a blocking back so I always liked him. No, I don't want the Chiefs having another player that affords Mahomes more time in the pocket. I hope you suck Perrine !!! lol

But but collusion... All players should have fully guaranteed contracts right? Stupid Browns.

Yeah, I don't think there was much of a sniff for Tee, not because he wasn't worth top end money, but because they would have had to given him top end money, while also giving up draft capital in the process. I don't think I would be in favor of the Bengals doing that for another player either. Bet if Tee has another solid season this year, someone, some team will back the bank truck up to his place. Like I said, I could be wrong, but if the cap keeps going up, there's no way contracts go down. Agents won't let that shit happen. When the cap goes up by $30m, teams aren't worried about another $5m more for someone. Most know that over the course of the next season or two, that contract is going to be viewed as a bargain. Honestly, it's a shitty cycle.

I don't blame any player for wanting what they are worth and Chase is worth FAR more than he's being paid this year. I understand the risk of injury and how that could impact future earning potential. So again, I don't blame Chase for that. What I do blame him for is the cat and mouse bullshit we are now seeing. Either practice and play or stay the fuck away. It's really irritating at this point. I think the price always goes up. The players and agents are surely aware that the cap continues to go up and with it, so will contracts. Look at QB's. Anyone think Jordan Love needs to be the highest paid QB in the league at the time of his signing? NOPE, but that's where the market is. I could be wrong, but I'm thinking today's $32 million a year will be next year's $35 million or more.

Switching WR gears... I am honestly pretty intrigued with the thought of Yoshi getting more snaps from the slot position. While thinking the slot is going to be a carousel of players, to include Gesicki, Yoshi stands to have a much improved season.
-
Agree. Such is life. Moving on.
-
As much as I think it may weaken the foundation, thoughts of what we could get in trade start to creep in.
-
Ok not yet.. The fucking practice squad ?? I mean seriously, there wasn’t some scrub we could dump off the G*damn practice squad to take a flyer on him? The only reason I keeping from being totally pissed is part of me wonders if Burrow and Chase had information and shared with the team. Ok now I will shut up.
-
Well, I will shut up about Terrace Marshall now. https://www.49erswebzone.com/news/amp-183227/

Maybe Anarumo has something up his sleeve and they are changing up what they are doing. Now I'm guessing that's not the case and should get a NT as well, but just saying is all...

Jesus Christ, up the TE total count again TJ !! From a Carolina Panthers article I read: Yes, I'm trying to will this shit into happening.
-
Henry is an interesting pick up. When drafted he was thought to be an above average rotational guy (see backup), which we could certainly use with or without Murphy being out for a bit. Maybe teaming him back up with Murphy helps both of them out moving forward. Nothing on Marshall going anywhere at this point. Still hoping until I can't, even though I'm not expecting it.

It was Katie upholding the family tradition.

Well I guess we know how this will unfold for the Bengals. The vote was passed 31-1. I will give you one guess who the one team that voted against was...

Marshall is a guy I've been talking about for a couple seasons now, waiting for him to become a free agent. I've honestly been hoping Carolina would continue sucking and him not produce because of it to make it happen. Well, here we are. Some would say he's a bust and he may be, but I don't think any fan can look at the situation in Carolina and think that's been a stable situation for a young player to come into. Now, put him on a team with Burrow and Chase, who he played with in LSU and was productive and you have a instant bond that can continue to improve in a stable setting. I think they kept so many TE's because they know they got two in the draft that will both be good pros, along with guys that have known roles in Sample and Hudson. Add Gesicki to the mix, who I believe will be dynamic in multiple alignments and it's a recipe for success from a position group that SUCKED BALLS last year. More than likely Gesicki is a one year and gone guy. Hudson is a free agent after the season as well. It's probably why I'm not working for an NFL front office, but I'm serious when I say I would try to get Hudson onto the taxi squad and bring in Marshall as the 7th WR. If someone snatches Hudson, he was a free agent next year anyway. I think there's more potential in what Marshall could turn into, especially considering Higgins and Irwin are free agents next year as well.

Just stop TJ. Not funny. Well... kind of...

What ?!?! Irv Smith Jr. got cut by the Chiefs ?? Say it ain’t so… Garbage
