The old saying “Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good” comes to fruition. Waiting to hear Burrow’s knee injury is season ending since it appeared to be ok. Then, Browning leads the team in running the table the rest of they way, missing the playoffs and screwing them out of a top 15 pick. Talk about most Bengals shit ever !!

Wow what was that?

So here's a question that really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, because I don't think Zac gets fired. What if he did? That's one to ponder. Without trying to come up with the probable no name coach they would hire, WHO WOULD YOU WANT to coach the Bengals next year? The reason I ask is, because we actually have a franchise QB and a top end offense. I have heard plenty of times through our years of being fans how coaches would love to coach in a place with an established elite franchise QB. Well, I think that would make the Bengals an attractive coaching option for coaches that might not have given thought to coaching here before Burrow. I don't really have any thoughts myself, but have heard Vrabel's name dropped in a couple of places and I like that he's a defensive minded coach. He would also probably turn over offensive play calling to the coordinator, which would make me happy. Thoughts?

Update for those foolish enough to think we still realistically have a shot. With our Bengals sitting at 4-8 and possibly getting to 5-8, this is where we stand. The Ravens, Chargers and Broncos are the #5-7 seeds at the moment, each with the same 8-5 record. Both the Colts and the Dolphins have a 6-7 record in the #8th and 9th spots respectively. So a win tonight still requires them to close the 3 game gap with have the 5-7 seeds and overcome the two after them. No small task by any stretch considering there are only 4 games remaining after tonight's. Just finish poorly enough to get one of the elite pass rushers in the draft. Am I asking for too much?

Dude put up nearly 52 fantasy points for me yesterday. Nacua got me nearly 36 and I picked up Charbonnet who netted nearly 35. Those three handled this week by themselves and I have Chase playing tonight. Closing in on a 200 point week. Anyway...
-
Ok bear with me... I really am ok if they lose the rest of the games. However, I want that to happen while Burrow and Chase continue to set the league on fire. You know, what's happened to this point of the season. They go off, put up 30+ points and continue to take the "L". I've also been playing around with mock drafts and they are kind of interesting. Nothing specific, but fun things to consider while simultaneously watching the abortion that is the 2024 Bengals.

I have no issue with Gesicki coming back. Based upon how they have viewed TE's over the past few seasons, I can't imagine them wanting to spend more money there, but it's needed. I also wouldn't be surprised if they looked for a cheaper veteran TE option and start over. That would suck, but would be telling of their mindset.

Oh I did see Jackson Carman signed with the Dolphins. They must want to see Tua get another concussion. Or maybe there's just a plethora of 16 year old girls that sparked his interest.

Ford sucks major ass and Volson never progressed. Both need to go. If Burrow keeps getting blasted back there, I could see his wrist starting to flare up.
-
Picking in the teens won't help this team. Their scouts are incapable of adequately analyzing that many players.
-
Which brings me to another point. We need a RB. That's it.
-
Rough season for Maybe Mac.
-
They need a lot along both lines. Plus the secondary.
-
Yeah, I like All too, but was referring to o-linemen in general. Mims is about the only one I'm thrilled with at this point. Maybe if Orlando was healthy, he'd be less of a concern. The whole interior needs to be improved.

I love Egbuka at Ohio State. Not sure I'd want to draft him as early as he's being projected though.
-
The better question to get ready to answer is.... Who's the top rated WR we take in the first ?? Huh? Huh? Anyone? LOL
-
Regarding Rankins, Hubbard, Stone and Cappa... CUT THEM ALL NOW. With that, thank you Hubbard for all your hard work and what you have meant to the team, but time has caught up to you as well dude. Best wishes !!! So extend both Tee and Ja'Marr and cut those mentioned above. Everything else goes back to the draft and whatever money is left for average free agent(s). If that is teamed up with the firing of at least Anarumo and Pollack. I might just tune in to a game or two next season.
-
Yes couldn’t agree more. Mims has worked out about as well as we could hope for. Happy for him. That’s one…
-
Cody Ford sucks just as much as Volson. Cappa has regressed beyond recognition.

What's new?

So of the free agents they are looking at for 2025, here's where I am today. Pay Higgins and moderately pay BJ Hill. Mike Hilton at a reduced price wouldn't bother me for another season. ADG at LB is also only 27 and contributes, but I won't care if he leaves as long as they can get a replacement. Shitcan literally everyone else that is a free agent. No need to overpay backup o-linemen or anyone else not named above from the defense. Why pay Higgins despite needing to still pay Chase ?? Simple... Who the hell else are they going to need to pay ?? In 2026, there is a decent list and I only see Pratt, as Chase will get paid this offseason. They will have to figure out the 5th year option for Dax and he may or may not be worth it. I don't think he is at the moment, but rooting for him. Cam Taylor-Britt has gone from solid dude to ranking below TJ's dead gramma. Hendrickson's contract isn't up until 2026, although he has been unhappy with his pay and will be again this offseason, despite turning 30 in two days. Why not try to trade him and get something, anything in return? That is unless they really feel they are going to compete in 2026. I really don't. Even in 2027. Who is such a standout that it will require the team to hand out a top of the market deal? Now I get maybe you want to be able to go out and get a new free agent player or two to help out, but there are players that can and should be cut. However, the Bengals don't typically do that. See doing the same thing, while expecting different results. There are far more holes on this team than I was willing to really consider at the start of the season, but creating another by letting Higgins walk isn't smart. It would be another penny pinching move by the front office, while trying to convince fans they are going to try to continue building. Thing is, it hasn't been working. If there are not some massive changes made, I will come here to see you guys, but I'm about done. 54 years has been enough. Shame on me...
-
See ?? That makes total sense to me and I don't disagree. However, I can just see the wheels in the front office turning and saying, why pay him that contract when we could just get a draft pick in 2026? We will just draft a young player we can keep around and control for the next 4 years minimum. I really thought and argued their philosophy had changed. It hasn't. Heads up Bengals, if you build through the draft and then let your best players walk, you aren't building shit. I'm sick of buying into the thought of not being able to pay players. It's not for a lack of understanding of how the cap works either. They don't bother to do anything different when it comes to contracts. It's like a one size fits all and that's just what they do win or lose or lose or lose or lose or lose, etc....

Well, I honestly don't think the Cowboys have the ability to put up points to make this game a shootout, but I hope that doesn't stop the Bengals. This is yet another one of those situations where there is absolutely no good reason to win any more games. There is nothing to gain and whatever "feel good" and "finishing strong" aspect there is will be long forgotten by the time the next season begins. But hey, why get a top 10 pick when you can feel good about not making the post season? Pick 18 here we come !!
