  2. Another Greg Cook type scenario in the making? Time will tell. https://www.cincyjungle.com/2024/5/10/24153271/joe-burrow-wrist-injury-inflammation-orthopedic-surgeon-bengals-qb
  3. Last week
  4. I think this guy might work out better as a coverage linebacker than a S Needs to add about 15 pounds of muscle this year, but the skillset seems to be there He'd still be a backup and specal teamer but I think we'd get more production out of him this way
  5. No doubt. Injury is the concern I'm raising. Other position groups seem to have at least "adequate" depth. Not linebacker, but again, I know how this goes. I don't get upset about it any more.
  6. Other than injury LB isn't a top concern. Wilson and Pratt are equally capable of being game changers at any point. Not strong against the run but both have flipped games with TOs. Wilson already has two 4 ints seasons. Pratt has several huge TOs.
  7. Forgive me for being more excited about what they could possibly pick up on the waiver wire than almost anything outside of the starters. I still think it's a shame they don't invest more in the position and think an impact player there, outside of hoping they hit on 3rd rounders or later, could be a real difference maker for the defense. Don't get me wrong, I love Wilson and Pratt. Just saying. Then again, that's been my contention for years. I already know how the story ends, so feel free to disregard. No offense taken...
  8. They have a few interesting prospects in house if you dig into the UDFAs. The linebacker Casey comes in with “special teams ace” already tattooed on him. The other LB, whose name ensures he will make the roster because it’s impossible to spell, has some potential as a run stuffer, and that Miami kid Dowell is listed as a safety but he looks a lot more like a linebacker to me. Dont know if any of these guys can make the final 53 but some should hand around on the PS. The waiver wire will likely have plenty of possibilities as the offseason rolls on too.
  9. I get how Lou uses linebackers and my calling for one in the draft goes unanswered because of that. My concern, as with any position group, is injuries. They are one ding away from running on fumes with that group.
  10. I think ADG and Bachie are solid backups, but I agree it’s barren after that. And STs take a hit without Bailey.
  11. Not sure if anyone saw it or not, but Bengals free agent LB Markus Bailey signed with the Cardinals. While not the be all, end of of player losses, but he was a big special teams guy and depth at the linebacker position. Yes, they drafted players that will certainly be getting opportunities playing special teams, but the depth at linebacker is a little bit of a hit I would have rather not been concerned about. I know I tend to focus on linebackers more than most, but here is the current depth chart at the position. Wilson, Pratt and ADG are the starters. Bachie, Harper and Heyward are the backups. Go figure here I am commenting about my concerns with this group. If I had my way, they would be looking at linebackers that get released along the way.
  12. While we're back here, it looks like the Boyd deal is finally done in Tennessee. One year, "up to" $4.5 million https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/40101148/source-wr-tyler-boyd-agrees-one-year-contract-titans Callahan has some toys to play with there now, that's for sure. Of course, his QB is the mighty...Will Levis.
  13. For awareness, Tyler Boyd signed with the Titans and is back with Brian Callahan. Too bad we play the Titans on the road this year. Would be cool to have him recognized here in Cincinnati. Wish him the best of luck, except when they play us !!!
  14. Allow me to come back to this for a quick minute. I was watching the never ending coverage of how Burrow can now tie shoes, which will lead us back to the Super Bowl and noticed something... Mike Gesicki is one big fucker !!! 6'6, 250lbs big. I like that signing very much and if everyone is able to stay healthy, I expect him to have a pretty big impact on the offense this year. Add in the other TE's in that room and that looks to be a pretty strong position group. Really looking forward to seeing them use Gesicki this year.
  15. Im glad to hear that. I too miss the guy. Boobies forever.
  16. No he had been out for a while, had his old job back. Was just his time.
  17. Did he die while in prison or was he a free man at the time? and I dont mean to insult him here.....it was what it was
  18. It happens from time to time TJ... I consider that a good thing. Funny you mentioned Billy. Just the other day, I stumbled across all the old Bengals games that Billy burned onto CD's and sent to me when I was in Afghanistan. There was like 10 CD's with every playoff game and otherwise meaningful Bengals game in history. I remember having so much fun sitting in the middle of the desert watching those. What a good dude !! He's missed !!
  19. It sounds like the ghost of Billy has taken possession of you, Army
  20. My favorite was, "He's baaaaaaaaack". No shit huh? Was there an option? Did they not expect the QB of the team to throw the football? Is he the best standing around, doing nothing guy in the whole wide world and then BAM, holy fuck he threw a football? It's like watching internet porn. I mean, COB's friend told me. You know when you see the chick with a tight shirt and big tits, what's about to go down. It's not a surprise. Like, holy shit, why is she on her knees? WHAAAAT ?!?!
  21. Burrow speaks today so there will be plenty of "OMG Burrow" moments today.
  22. So half my Facebook feed is that insta of Joe tossing a football, with endless OMG comments and gifs. This is going to be the theme until camp, isn’t it. Wow, did you see that? Burrow opened a door! Look: Burrow drinks beverage! Source: Joe takes dump, flushes afterwards!
  23. I was holding out hope they would get Sweat in the 2nd. I was hoping they wouldn't pass on him even with the DUI. He may be a big partier, drink more than he needs, and look like the 2nd coming of cookie dough. However, none of that kept him from becoming a 1st team All-American and winning the Outland Trophy for the best interior defensive lineman, all while playing next to Byron Murphy at Texas, who went in the first round. He might turn out to be a drunken bust, but as always, it only takes one team. It should be interesting to see what he does in Tennessee and what Brian Callahan gets out of him. Jenkins? Yeah, he wasn't my top choice, but if measures up to half of what is said about him, we should be good. I love his attitude as well. Seems like a pretty down to earth kid who really likes to ball. His nickname at Michigan was the "Mutant". Nice...
  24. I think they had Jenkins on their board fairly high. They've taken 3 Michigan players with significant picks 3 years in a row. I think Jenkins will prove to be a better pass rusher than his draft profile indicates. The ability to pursue from the down lineman position reminds of Tim Krumrie and J. Smith. Just relentless pursuit of the ball carrier.
  25. Jenkins is...fine. Heaven knows the Bengals can use any and all help against the run, and between Jenkins and McKinnley they should be better. That said, they clearly had Murphy and Newton ranked ahead of Jenkins. Likely Sweat too. My take is that this was a rerun of round 1, just on the d-line. In the first they were locked in on OT and whoever the best tackle left on their board was when 18 rolled around, that was the pick. Same in the second, they were just locked in on DT.
  26. I just read a blurb about this pick. Supposedly Lou was targeting Jenkins all along, claims he was sweating it as defensive guys started going off the board in the second round. And the article claimed that based on whatever advanced metrics NASA or the Manhattan Project came up with that the NFL uses to evaluate such things - Jenkins grades in the 98th percentile in run stop rate. Which seems really good.
