Wisk
Give me a freakin' break. Reading about the Steelers this week has "got my gourd" so excuse this rant. Joey Porter is going to use Jeremy Stevens' comments as motivation for the Super Bowl? Well "buck up" little Joey if that is what you need to motivate you for the biggest game of your LIFE! He is complaining that Stevens disrespected his boy Bettis by saying that Bettis will be disappointed by not winning the Super Bowl in his home town - in what is probably Bettis' swan song. Well, what the hell do you think Stevens is going to say? Uh...I guess Jeremy could have said "we are going to lay down in Super Bowl XL as a retirement gift to Bettis...perhaps we'll even let Bettis exceed his standard stat line of 6 carries for 4 yards and 2 touchdowns as a bonus." There...that'll make Joey happy. Porter has no class. "Class" allows trivialities to pass and lets their actions speak for them on the field. Porter's knee-jerk reaction is simply childish..."Hey Jeremy...meet me at the flagpole at recess". And the Steelers complaining that they get no respect? Well you earn respect...it is not granted. The Steelers earned no respect in the regular season; but deservedly are getting it now with their winning-streak run for the title. Hey Steelers! You're a sixth seed facing a #1 seed and are a 4 point Super Bowl favorite. Quit it with your whining no-respect "take"...it doesn't fly! But if that helps you in your "us against the world" motivational mentality....go for it. But keep it to yourself because your self-loathing is boorish! Perhaps the Steelers get no respect because they give none. They mock other teams' celebrations, then complain when their terrible towel is used for pregame fodder. You give respect to get it. Porter also complained about the league wanting the Colts to win after questionable calls in the playoff game against them...Well as all NFL fans shook their collective craniums in unison in wonderment about Polamalu's interception reversal, it was only fitting that Roethlisberger made the game-saving stab to save the game for the Steelers. (And thus began another session of complaining by another NFL whiner - Peyton Manning. And what true "professional" QB would air a national complaint about his own offensive line's shortcomings anyway?) Well that's a subject for another rant. Back to Porter...Where were his complaints in his game against the Bengals with a no-call on the late hit on Palmer (the ball was clearly long-gone); or the mugging of Houshmanzadeh and subsequent kicking of him while he was down in the end zone. The announcers called the "no-call" on Housh as a "mugging" which should have elicited a flag at the very least...followed by a personal foul for kicking a downed player in the end zone...again no flag. Porter's memory is selective at best. But apparently, Joey thinks that officials blow calls only against the Steelers. Somebody please throw him a terrible towel so he can throw a terrible tantrum will ya'!? Finally, (and I'm sure that word is welcomed by some reading this) excuse me if I am not on the Cowher bandwagon to "allow" him to win one just because he is the longest tenured coach. TENURE SCHMENURE! Each season is a new campaign and I am sorry if Cowher has failed to be handed a Super Bowl over the last 20 years...It's amazing that he hasn't won one with the talent he has had...Perhaps that should speak volumes about him....But does not allow him to be "handed" one now as "coach emeritus"? I too believe that the Steelers will win Super Bowl XL. But believe me...I will not be rooting for them to win this game...or any other by this particularly classless Steeler team! Enjoy the game...Go Alexander and the Seahawks!

BigBenBlows
Wow that was a long post but well worth reading. I agree I hope Seattle pounds them into submission, go Shaun Alexander. I don't care if Cowface ever wins a Super Bowl.

BengalszoneBilly
Well spoken, brother of Broome! Yeah, that's my brothers post alright. He sent me that as a e-mail, and I replied back that he should post it here because it had some good points and I only read things with that many words here at Bengalszone! It's pretty well evident that he's the one who graduated with the degree from college. I never really noticed before, but it appears he missed "Paragraph Day!"
NJ29
Yo! Another reason to hate the Steelers - They complain about the Colts scoring on "glitch plays", yet they run more gadget plays than any team in the league.

So it may have worked.2) " You give respect to get it." -I'm sorry, but the Bengals have yet to learn this one. So we can't be hypocrites.3) And I think your memory is as selective as Joey's. You get calls (good and bad) both ways, but you look only to those favoring your argument.4) I agree with you on Cowher...but I guess he answered that question.5) Unfortunately, the Seahawks failed against just like, (gulp) the Bengals. I mean, just look at his creative username!
