oldschooler
Former Bengal P-Dub has become P-FlubBy Chick LudwigDayton Daily NewsThe saddest words of tongue or pen at Super Bowl XL: Peter Warrick, the Xtra Large disappointment for the Seattle Seahawks.I hope he has a fabulous financial adviser and an awesome accountant to take care of the millions he's made — not earned — during his six seasons in the NFL. Because ol' P-Dub is finished after Sunday's mayhem in Motown.Warrick, operating on a one-year, $900,000 salary, will get a lukewarm reception when he hits the open market as an unrestricted free agent in March. Oh, Tampa Bay will probably give him an opportunity to revive some of his old magic. But I don't expect him to stick on an NFL roster this fall. The 5-foot-11, 192-pound wide receiver and punt returner can't shake 'n' bake anymore. The only skill he displayed all season was making deposits and withdrawals on his 17 paychecks of $50,000 each.Drafted No. 4 overall by the Bengals in 2000, Warrick never lived up to his Florida State hype. Yet he still managed four productive seasons in Cincinnati before some injuries surfaced. First, he tore right knee cartilage late in 2003. Then he suffered a small left shin fracture early in 2004 that limited him to four games. On Aug. 31, 2005, the day after the Bengals released him, Warrick blew into Seattle, passed the team physical and signed a $1.3 million deal that included a $400,000 signing bonus. The Seahawks have received little in return — 11 catches for 180 yards (16.4 avg.) and 0 TDs, and six punt returns for 29 yards (4.8).Look for Warrick to be fair-catching punts on Sunday — and laughing all the way to the bank. bengalboomer7
I never was a huge Warrick fan, but cut the guy some friggin slack. Yes he underachieved, and he also ruined the rest of his career trying to get back on the field to help the Bengals make a playoff run. Chuck said his shake and bake is gone, but fails to mention why that is.He's no Corey Dillon, and he even hung around most of training camp trying to get ready. It just didn't work out
The_Next_Big_Thing
To think that he was our hero 2 and a half years ago, and to see how far he has fallen. He was our hero for one freaking game against Kansas City. Other than that, he's always been a bust.

BengalsMan3203
With the Henry Drama, I still wouldn't mind giving Mr. Warrick another shot.He has had some badtimes, but we know he can be a productive 3rd wide out.Give him something simliar to what Seattle gave him and stick him out there... Stripes
Why would Chick Ludwig even write this article? There must be a better way for him to use his column space in the DDN than to slam a highly respected former Bengal like Warrick.
HairOnFire
Why would Chick Ludwig even write this article? There must be a better way for him to use his column space in the DDN than to slam a highly respected former Bengal like Warrick. Remember the Kimo piece? For whatever reason Chick's writing has been pretty over-the-top lately. It's almost like he's trying to get a job with ProFootballTalk.com. My advice? When writing angy diatribes against lifes many injustices...always work the word "TURD" into the piece.
oldschooler
I was as big of a P-Dub supporter as anyone. It seems that not so awful long ago peoplewere calling him a "bust".Now he has basically done squat for 2 yearsand people act like we should try to re-signhim and Ludwig`s professionalism is being questioned ? I think he pretty much hit the nail on the head. And just called it the way he sees it...But meh...
HoosierCat
I think he pretty much hit the nail on the head. And just called it the way he sees it...If that's true, then Chick wasn't looking very hard. Warrick played in 13 games this season, mostly as a downfield blocker. It's true he didn't get very many catches -- but no one on the 'Hawks did, since they spend most of their time running the ball. The Seahawks ranked in the bottom 3rd of the league (23rd) in passing attempts in 2005. Their leading WR, Bobby Engram, had just 778 yards on 67 catches in 13 games, or about 5 grabs a game. Their No. 2, Joe Jurevicius , averaged just 3.4 catches a game. There simply aren't that many balls to go around in Seattle, on top of which, Warrick didn't arrive until a few days before the season began, giving him no chance to develop any knowledge of the offense or a relationship with his new QB.Anyone like Chick who thinks he's done need only look at Jurevicius. He struggled with knee and back injuries over the last two years, playing in just 15 games in 2003 and 2004 combined. This year, 16 games, nearly 700 yards, 10 TDs. oldschooler
Like I said...I was a huge P-Dub supporter.I guess the fact I "wanted" him to be goodand him "actually being" good were two different things though. And for that I will admit I was wrong.Just think about this for a minute...TJ`s stats in 5 seasons : 213 catches for 2,654 yards and 12 TD`s.Warricks stats in 6 seasons : 275 catches for 2,991 yards and 18 TD`s.Ummmm...yeah. Not only am I rooting for Seattle not just because I hate PIT, you guys forget about Marquand Manuel ...... yeah a nobody from the old Bungle days, but anyway go Seahawks. Maybe P-Dub will break one to win the game, and Marquand will make a key INT.
NJ29
It's blows my mind how people can have so much hatred for this guy after what he did for us in 2003.

Who do you remember in a higher regard, Warrick or freakin' Pickens?
