combatbengal
We got rid of Dillon and what did he get that year? A super Bowl ring. This year we cut peter W and look where he's going?

jjakq27
We got rid of Dillon and what did he get that year? A super Bowl ring. This year we cut peter W and look where he's going? I agree. Yep, P Dub would have made all the difference. He probably would have blocked Kimo and saved Palmer's knee.I also wish we would have kept Adrian Ross, Artrell Hawkins, Matt O'Dwyer, Lorenzo Neal, Bernard Whittington, Oliver Gibson, Tony Williams, Canute Curtis, JoJuan Armour and Jeff Burris among others. In all seriousness, I expected one of these posts. It has been a few weeks. You left out Marquand Manual and Dick LeBeau too.
buck3y3d
It wasn't LeBeau's fault. He was a defensive mastermind who would have definately helped the Bengals as a coordinator. I agree though, those players would not have helped the Bengals.
The_Next_Big_Thing
We got rid of Dillon and what did he get that year? A super Bowl ring. This year we cut peter W and look where he's going?Peter W is certainly a huge part of the Seahawks chances at getting a ring. I mean he had what, a fair catch and a whole 5 yard return tonight? God, that definately would have taken us to the Super Bowl.As for Dillon, we offloaded his sorry burger flipping wannabe butt to a team that was likely to go to the Super Bowl that year, in exchange for building our team with better players with better attitudes. We GAVE him his ring, and the cocksmoker doesn't even write. Screw him.
andybren
The Seahawks lost their top 2 receivers at various times during the season and yet PDub still never got serious playing time. I was wrong to question Marvin's decision on this one. So he might get a ring out it. Doesn't make a difference to me. Not unless he was a difference maker and the Bengals were standing on the other sideline. Same thing with Dillon. Their success or failure doesn't reflect on the Bengals' success or failure. And vice versa. How could you possibly have a problem with how things worked out?
combatbengal
I didn't make this post to say we screwed up by letting these guys go. I made it to say we threw these guys to a team that made it to the SB and now they havea ring, or might get a ring.
jjakq27
It wasn't LeBeau's fault. He was a defensive mastermind who would have definately helped the Bengals as a coordinator. He was the defensive coordinator from 1997 until the third game of 2000 when Coslet quit. Then he was the head coach until the end of 2002. He had some success after Coslet quit in 2000 when he made a commitment to run the ball (are you listening Bob B?) and finished 4-9 which included the Corey Dillon rush record . They started out 2-0 in 2001 but ended up 6-10 that year. He had his opportunity but was not able to make the same things happen here that he did in Pittsburgh. BTW, does anyone know why he left Pittsburgh after the 1996 season?
redsfan2
Check Lablows stats .... that will explain why he was fired in Cincinnati twice. His defensive " genius " myth stems from inheriting a strong defense that was already in place in stealer town .... and riding Cowhers coat tails. He was totally inept until he was able to get back under Cowhers wing.He did squat in Cincinnati in both stints as a DC and his one shot at head coach. He then did jack in Buffalo where his most telling contribution came as Takeo Spikes said " he'll be able to tell you guys what I like and what I don't like."Pittsburgh .. or anyone else for that matter is welcome to him.PDubs days in Cincy were over and he knew it. He hasn't been missed here on returns or in the passing attack. His impact in Wash. has been ........... minimal ?? if that.Dillon did well for the Pats for one season and contributed to the Pats game. Watching them last year .... you have to believe that they would've gone all the way with or without CD. When last I checked in on him this season ..... his production was off and he was kicking off his transformation back into the CD well all knew by refusing to talk to reporters. My guess is he's sending resumes to all the local McDonalds.Nobody mentioned Chemo .......... After receiving the game ball in Cincinnati he has been fairly quiet .... waiting for the refs attention to wander elsewhere before making another " impact " play. HoosierCat
You left out Marquand Manual and Dick LeBeau too.MM did a good job last night working with Trufant to keep Steve Smith in check. Bengals certainly could have used him this past season.
ShulaSteakhouse
Yeah Manuel would've helped us "this year" - but hindsight and all that yadda yadda. He's still a backup up there - but a better one than anyone the Bengals' have currently.Don't forget Kimo! Who will be a UFA after this season...hmmm...think he'd be welcomed back here? If Kitna leaves, you can put Kimo's gear in the locker right next to Carson.
turningpoint
The only guy i regret us cutting was, Marquan Emanual, cause we truely needed him at safety badly!

I never said he was a stud, just that we could have used some better options than Ohalete. He's done pretty good for a 6th round pick, eh?The thing that nags me about Manuel is that he's the third Bengals safety that Lewis has let go who has gone on to find at least modest success elsewhere (the others being Lamont Thompson and Mark Roman). Meanwhile, he's 1 for 3 in finding answers at the position (Madieu vs. Herring and Ohalete).I think the moral of the story is, draft a safety and keep K2.
