The game plans out on us

Spain

Why do I think that teams around the leauge are going to use clevelands 7-5 the rest of the year. Teams are not going to let Palmer kill them. So they are going to go to 5 DBs on first and second. Rudi is going to have some great games. Perry would have looked good to. You take away the 8 in he box against Rudi and he will burn you. I would strongly recommend hin in fantasy the rest of the season. Other teams cant stop our power O with seven up front. Look for long runs from Rudi.

also the first time you see something, it's harder to adjust your gameplan. Like Peyton early in the year. Now we now what to expect from teams, we can gameplan to beat it. I'm glad we saw it from Cleveland now and not in the Wild Card game against a good team.

Oh and 5 dbs and 7 in the box would be a great strategy for us. I wish teams would do that every play. I'll be happy with a drive that looks like this:

1 play, 1 yard, 0:03 drive, 14:57 remaining, 17 penalties.

Right on Boomer. Spain may have the details a little out of wack, but his premise is sound. Teams may start loading up on the pass and challenge us to beat them with the run (6 or 7 in the box, you choose). I say let them have at. If there is anything the Bengals have proven, even pre-Marvin, it's that we can run the ball AFC North style.

Agreed. Let's run Rudi 30 times a game and control the clock. Sounds fine to me...

Two points.

First, after reading the game thread I once again find myself in the minority as I was begging the Bengals to run the ball more often against the Browns. IMHO Rudi should have gotten 5-8 additional carries against the Browns. They never came close to stopping him and the result could have easily been a 200 yard game.

Second, despite their painfully poor grasp of math I've always liked spanish peanuts. Granted, the salty red skin sometimes detaches and gets caught in your throat, but that's just a handy reminder to take another drink of beer. And I ask you, dear reader, who wouldn't like a nut that actually communicates with the eater?

Spanish peanuts are the only peanut for ice cream bars. Vanilla ice cream, chocolate coating embedded with Spanish peanuts...mmmmm. Eat 'em all day long.

As for Rudi, yep, I'm with you, they ought to have run him more. Heck, he was plowing through stacked lines and the passing game just wasn't working...why not just pound away? To Marvin's credit, he took the rap after the game, saying he ought to have run more. But a certain OC ought to know better, too...

<_<

I cant believe I did that. Damn the post was actually good. I too am glad we didnt get hit with that in the playoffs. The cleveland coach aint stupid. We going to see this every week. Our superbowl chances depend on how this team responds. The point that we didnt have a gameplan for that D being played on first and second down really screwed us. When Brat gets a chance to game plan it. Look for different results. Hey sometimes coaches win games.

This begs the next question:

With Perry down with the ankle, how do you see us utilizing JJ and Luchey? ML gave some insight with JJ being called out as HB and Luchey as FB...but what other ways can we exploit using this personnel?

I'm thinking "Wishbone" baby! How scary would that be once in a while?

yeah Spain might be the dumbest fan on this board. I bet they play with 12 in spain. Find a sport in your country we are sick of your dumb a$$ comments.

We???? are sick of his blankety-blank comments? You got a mouse in your pocket? I find it's best to always speak for yourself. Especially when being unnessarily rude or just plain nasty. Furthermore I'm far more sick of ignorantly rude comments such as yours than I'll ever be of what you may percieve as dumb or stupid comments from Spain or anyone else for that matter!

Yep, Spain, I bet you're correct. Teams will start to play Manning defense to keep Palmer in check. I agree with everyone else though, that is a temporary solution, the Bengals offense is just too good for that. While we wait for the proper adjustments, Rudi is ready to roll. B)

You beat it by running Rudi, mixed in with some screen passes and quick hitting 5 to 8 yard slant passes to the wide outs and throwing often to the tight end on first and second downs.

You do this to force the defense to adjust to the short game and you do this until the defense moves their corners and safties up to cover the short stuff, and then when they do you go to the intermediate routes and over the top for the home runs.

Yeah, the slants were open last week - Palmer just threw behind Chad, TJ and Schobel all at least once. Chad twice that I can remember.

If he is hitting those, who knows what happens. Even the deep ball to Chad last week was underthrown a tad, although Chad was mugged if you watch the tape on the play as a result.

Hopefully different story indoors Sunday.

did anyone notice Rudi gasping for air in the fourth quarter after that 7 carry 25 yard part of the drive? He can and will get allot of carries but JJ is going to have to give him breathers for him to be effective thruout the game.....

BTW.. I like the idea of Luchey and JJ in the backfield.. two tanks commin atya!

Spain keep posting ..your all right ( 99% of the time!)

VERY scary! Have you seen what happens to the QB when he makes the pitch to the trailing running back? NOT something I want Carson to be subjected to any time soon.
