TJJackson
from http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=4759"....worry about the entire defense now that its best player, free safety Madieu Williams, is reportedly out for the year...." Kirkendall
This, I believe is the same injury Landon suffered but played through.
HoosierCat
Could be, kirk, tho IIRC Landon's was a sort of chronic condition he'd gotten used to playing with.So...now we've lost both our starting safeties this year (Madieu and Herring)...just great. Now what? They tried flip-flopping Olahete and K2 yesterday, that didn't seem to make much difference. Anthony Mitchell made the most of his opportunity, drawing a flag for illegal contact and keping a Steelers TD drive alive. And finallly there's Myles, who I supposed should be commended for not being flagged this week.If/when Madieu goes on IR, do we...-- stick with the aforementioned foursome and use the roster spot someplace else (maybe the bengals search the stands next week, find the fattest fan, and make him a DT or something...)-- promote newly signed S Tony Bua or training camp favorite "Indiana" Jones off the PS to fill the S slot.-- try something radical like moving one of the CBs (Ratliff? James?) to S?-- find a vet FA S (I dunno if there is anyone worth s**t available, anyone know?)Thoughts? I'm not married to anny of the options... Kirkendall
We need a saftey that can cover tight ends -- something Williams was originally drafted for. And with Heap and Miller being in our division, we could be in trouble in that aspect. We need someone that can support the run. But I don't think, at this point, we have a viable solution; rather depth and rotation maybe the only thing we can do.

BengalByTheBay
I wouldn't be surprised to see Bua brought up at this point. My biggest concern with him is size -- he seems a tad short. They definitely are going to need another body as a BU at least. Indiana Jones was fun to watch in preseason, but I don't know that they see him as quite ready for prime time yet. Then again, options are limited.
ShulaSteakhouse
All I know is that Mitchell and Olhate are not getting the job done.Neither one of them can cover anybody to save their lives...let alone tackle anybody. Complete junk.

Kirkendall
Anyone up for employing that old Landon at safety idea?....A couple of things:- What makes you think he could fill the roll now? Would he be better? Is worth taking him out of the depth charts at LB when he led the team in tackles last season?- Second, if we're thinking of this, and with Madieu being out the better part of the season, then hasn't Marvin? If Marvin has, I'd think he'd be playing him in spot situations -- obvious running downs -- against freakin' Pittsburgh... Just some food for thought... derekshank
http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=4761Lewis wouldn’t comment on reports that free safety Madieu Williams is done for the season with shoulder surgery. He called it only “a possibility,” but it appears Williams won’t resurface in Cincinnati for rehab until the Nov. 7-13 bye week. This actually seems like great news to me (and the news about Pollack's knee). I fully expected Madieu out for the season. When I had my shoulder surgery I bounced back fairly quickly... but I also don't play safety in the NFL. I'd be ecstatic if Madieu could make it back at all this season.

I did the whole elipsis thing with that in mind, but coming after a question mark, that doesn't make much sense.
