skyline Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Uh...Squirrel Boy? Definitely... Quote
Columbusbengal Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 By the way, how is Landon Johnson doing? I haven't heard him mentioned so far this year. Quote
kingwilly Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 David PollackHe is somewhat visible...to the officials and their yellow flags. Quote
Stripes Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Gotta go with Kelley Washington. We may have seen the last squirrel dance, at least in a Bengals uniform. Quote
walshfan Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 I dont know about invisable but Simmon and Landon Johnson/Pollack have GOT to start making those tackles on those outside runs.. Our middlemen are doing their job..props to JT and Robinson.. Simmons and Johnson/Piollack need to start stepping up and doing there's... We are giving up and aveerage of 3.3 yrds on runs up the middle... 11.3 on runs around end... come on Brian and Landon!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
AMC Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 no new contract for da squirrel...the writing is on the wall..... Quote
DesperateDerelict Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Gotta go with Robert Geathers - are new sack-meister is having a much tougher time against LT's Quote
TJJackson Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 First play of the year was a hit on kickoff coverage teams by my main man Reggie Myles (his smiling face is just to the left of this post) that caused a fumble.Go review the tapes if you don't believe me :-)Had we recovered the fumble, he'd be a lot more visible :-)That said, his only visiblity since then was his stupid 15 yard personal foul call when he decided to headbutt a Viking player.I look for him to rebound against Chicago...The truly invisible player is Kelly Washington, who hasn't even contributed anyting yet.....I am told he was in for at least on play in game one, but I am not sure that's true. ShulaSteakhouse Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Brian Simmons = Mr. Invisible every year (not sure where his mysterious tackle #'s come from) Plus he looks slower than molasses these days.Pollack, Geathers and Simmons need to step up and make some plays. Landon has done his job well enough, he is still adjusting to being switched around so much - but is around the ball all the time. The d-line misses Clemons. Quote
HairOnFire Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 The Squirrel? How can the most invisible player be a non-starter who plays at one of the deepest positions on the roster? Sheesh, anyone who voted for K-Dub is borderline clueless. It's Geathers, hands down. I won't ding him hard because I think he'll play his way out of his early struggles, but with Geathers we're talking about a starter who is getting massive reps. Quote

I've heard Geathers' name called quite a few times. The stats aren't there yet, but they will come. Quote
TJJackson Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 In regards to the "clueless" comment......I think we're interpreting the word "invisible" differently....I see it as total contribution, whereas I think you are more looking at is as a ratio of results produced over downs played. Since KW has played few (if any) downs and produced nothing, to me he's invisible. To you, Geathers has played a lot and produced little (no sacks), ergo he's more invisible.Does that help explain my position a bit, or do I remain clueless? Quote
jjakq27 Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 KDub and Simmons. I wonder how long before they replace him with Landon Johnson. Quote

Hey, I'm not trying to be insulting...it just happens. But you did get my point and I do think it's a valid one. KW barely played against Cleveland, only had one ball thrown his direction...and it wasn't catchable. The following week he was inactive. But the position hasn't suffered a bit due to the depth we all acknowledged before a down was played. So is he invisible? Yeah, but mostly because he hasn't been needed or called upon. That could change this week or the next or never, but I'm not going to criticize a player who hasn't been given an opportunity. By comparison, Geathers is getting starters reps and hasn't produced on the stat page or on the field. And again, I'm not going to ding him hard because I think the production will come eventually. But c'mon, if you're going to call someone invisible why not limit the discussion to players who are actually getting opportunities to produce, but aren't? BTW, my 2nd choice would be Pollack....for the same reasons already mentioned. Quote
TJJackson Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 I know you'll be consider it tragic that I wasn't insulted, but in the face of this tragedy, perhaps you can quaff a fine beverage or two to drown your sorrow. That said, I do indeed see your point, but I have every confidence that the Robert Geathers I saw and loved last year will emerge soon :-) I don't see Kelly Washington doing anything for the rest of the year, unless we have an injury problem at the wr position, and then only if the wr injured doesn't play special teams. The tight ends have kinda been invisible too, but I am starting to think that's by design..... There is no tragedy. If I wanted to insult you I would have called you out by name. I didn't do that. At worst I broadsided a group of posters who seem to take pleasure in dinging Washington...to the point of claiming that he's about to be traded, cut, or simply living on borrowed time. Yeah, sure thing. As for the drinking suggestion, I rarely need a reason to indulge. More to the point though, I feel no reason to drown my sorrow over the Washington snubbing since I think the snub is being offered by those I've described as being borderline clueless. So why should I get worked up? Quote
LABengalsFan09 Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Didn't a Pollack penalty wipe out a Geathers sack and forced fumble last week? Quote
DontPushMe Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 Brian Simmons = Mr. Invisible every year (not sure where his mysterious tackle #'s come from) Plus he looks slower than molasses these days.I agree. Thats what I said here this offseason and took heat for it. Simmons has always been an overrated player. Wouldnt suprise me if he werent starting or even on the team for 06. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted September 25, 2005 Report Posted September 25, 2005 I agree. Thats what I said here this offseason and took heat for it. Aside from the avatar change from Corey to Chris, what don't you take heat for around here Pushy? You take so much, we ought to nickname you "The Kitchen." As to Brian Simmons, upon occasion he will come up big with a tackle/sack or get an important turnover for the team that I feel preserves his status on the team. Quote
