backerman
I think this will truly be a test for the Carson Palmer and Co. The Bears defense may be the best defensive unit in the league. It should at least tell the Bengals how they will compare with Baltimore. I think the Bears Defense is everybit as good as the RAvens and the offense is at least one level ahead them. Plus the bears are nasty. a VERY physical hard hitting bunch. The Recievers for the Bengals better be ready to take some hecklacious shots.Overall the Bengals are a better team because I think the Bengal O is light years ahead of Chicagos. And thier defense is developing some nasty attitude as well. But with a defense like the Bears bring, the should be in every game. (barring Culpepperish turnovers)Whats your prediction on the game? Stripes
I predict, first and foremost, that the Bengals leave Chicago after a very decisive romp of the hometown Bears. A lot of people are seeing this as a potential scare, due to it being on the road against a solid defesne, but I don't see it that way. Their defense may be excellent, but for reasons I'll list below, that doesn't worry me. Score? ..... I'll go with 27 - 6 Bengals.Yes, they have an excellent defense, but our offense as is right now, has proven that it can perform successfully against any defense on the field. We have the physicality with Rudi and Jeremi Johnson to pound the football right down their throats and wear down their line. We have the speed in Chris Perry and our slot receivers to play games with their overrated linebacking corps. We know what Chad can do, and nobody in that Bears secondary worries me a bit as far as stopping him.On defense, we have a gigantic advantage. Kyle Orton, being so young to the league, will be prone to foolish mistakes, and our opportunistic defense will devour him. Thomas Jones and Cedric Benson could potentially be threats, but I do not see them having many opportunities to run the ball, after we take another big lead early.I say the Bengals continue rolling on all cylinders, and the offensive show lasts well through week three.Who-Dey
Bobcat Bengal
I mean, we DO play in the AFCN, so its not like we dont have a strong running game.Overall, our O-Line has done a good job of keeping Carson off his back, so I think if we utilize short passes and Rudi keeps pounding the ball, we have a shot. The way things are going so far this year, next Sunday might tell us something about how we'll match up with the Colts' defense...but the Ravens? Right now they don't have a defense. As for the Bears game...opening line has the Bengals favored by 3.
chrishcovga
Yes, your messiar has returned Ha ha ha ha ha.... , but anyway, Gotta love the Directv DVR.... had to work, and leave to go teach a class, and still got all of the game recorded against the Vikes and Browns. But back to the posts, I'm not worried about the Bears at all.... ! The minute Rex Grossman went down, I knew the Bears would be a win. When Randy Moss became a raider, I knew the Bengals would be the favor going into that game.- Texans have fired Chris Palmer as their offensive coordinator ( Wasn't that the guy that took Tim Couch..?? OUch...) Cincy has a real shot at going 4-0 before the Jaguars game. I say we put our mind on the Bears game. Bears have only one real receiving threat in Muhsin Muhammad, and Tory James can handle him. Deltha could get the rookie Bradley from Oklahoma. This is a Game we should blitz a lot ( especially Zone Blitz ) and attack their running lanes. The Bears don't have the o-line to handle it and Kyle Orton should provide at least 3 turnovers. :player:
backerman
Oh, I predict the Bengals to win, don't get me wrong. I just think the Bears defense is a major step up from what Cincy has faced the first 2 weeks. Last year the Bears defense was awesome. It only statistically looked average because the Bears offense was so horrendous. (absolutley no threat to convert anything more than 3rd and 3 last year for the bears. and the Defense spent nearly 40 minutes a game on the field due the offense ALWAYS going 3 and out). This year the Bears have found a quarterback that at least gives them a chance. NO, Orton isn't on Carsons level, but he atleast does provide the defense with some concern of the pass. Last year after Grossman was hurt they faced 9 men in the box on a regular basis. Not 8, NINE!!! no joke.LAst season, I watched 2 teams on a regular basis. the Falcons and the Bears. This year I'm making it 3 (adding the Bengals). IF the Bengals play smart and just try to force Orton to beat them consistentley they should win the game. The Bengals have too many weapons on offense for the Bears to completley shut them down and the Bears have too few weapons/rookie quarterback on offense for them to beat the bengals. BArring any crazy fumble fest on either part. I see it as a 20-13 win for the Bengals.

membengal
In answer to the thread question, of course they can. With all due respect to the Bears D, they have not seen an offense in Cincy's class yet this season. The better question might be, can the Bears handle the Bengals' offense? That is a great question and the answer is no. The Bears D is good, they are young and fast, but they have not seen an offense with as many weapons as the Bengals since they played Indy last season and we all know how that turned out.41-
San Antonio Bengal
The Bears defense is good; there's no doubt about that. However, they haven't faced a team with a high-powered offense this season, just as the Bengals haven't faced a great defense yet. The edge has to go to the Bengals because the Bengals offense is much more mature than the Bears defense. After the first two games, Chicago's pass defense is 11th in the league. Not bad, but you have to consider that neither the Redskins or the Lions have the firepower of the Bengals.Even with the thumping of the Lions considered, the Bears offense is 28th in the league for yards per game and pass yards per game. While their points per game is much higher, much of that is due to the Lions poor performance. I expect their points per game to drop down and be more in line with their other offensive numbers in a couple weeks. I'm not trying to take away from the points the Bears put up, but just point out that the Bears didn't really have to worry about moving the ball to score. If Cincinnati forces the Bears to have to move the ball to score, our defense can take advantage of a young QB. Cincy will give up a big play every once in a while, but the red zone defense has looked good so far.Special teams play is my biggest concern. Our special teams have been lacking, although there was an improvement from week 1 to week 2. No matter how many points we put up, poor special teams play will allow the Bears right back into the game. And the Bears have some good return guys. We must shut them down.Anyway, prediction is Bengals win 30 - 12.
walshfan
This game will be over somewhere in the third quarter.......We bring our safties up in the box and shut their run down.Make Orton beat us with his arm..We run the ball right at their tackles...they arent strong at the point of attack and will wear down eventually...If they bring their safties up in the box Palmer has CJ and TJ one on one...Chess match and the Bears dont have enought pieces to win...... thepudgester
Hey, the Minnesota D was supposed to be pretty good too, and look what happened! However, Chicago is a little step up. I still don't believe they can really stop us. However, I see us giving up one big play that results in a Td for the Bears, maybe Orton to Muhammed. The game will not be a rout like last week... for either teams. Should be a good game, we have to really prepare ourselves for that Chicago running game. Neither individual looks great in their backfield, but they can produce. Overall, I think we control this game. Bengals 24 Bears

No offense to you and SA, because I like both your stuff, but that kind if s**t really annoys me.So...the Bengals ripped MN limb from limb, and it's because MN is bad? What about Cleveland win the week before? Is that a better win now because Cleveland beat GB on the road and Dilfer was damn near unstoppable? All a team can do is win the games before it, and the Bengals have not just won them, they have damn near annihilated their opponents, something not all that common in any given week in the NFL. I don't think the Bengals have to apologize to anyone for those wins, nor do we need to automatically downgrade MN because Cincy butchered them. Here's a thought...the Bengals ARE that good and are butchering teams because that's what really good teams do.That is every bit as plausible as deciding that every Cincy opponent wo gets bludgeoned is the second coming of the 2002 bengals... alense
Our quarterback, running back and #1 receiver are all in the top five in the league. By the way, our quarterback is #1! I don't care who you are playing, to put up the kind of numbers we have in just two games makes our offense legit.I don't care who or where we play. We are a legitimate football team this year. I don't think we should be the ones worrying about the Bears defense, I think it should be the other way around. Kyle Orton is going to have to throw the ball and this is a big game for them. Everyone knows what he is capable of in games that mean something!
ShulaSteakhouse
Mem - you're confusing cynicism/pessimism with something that had nothing to do with "why" the Bengals' won or how good they are.I was simply stating an objective and fair fact - it had nothing to do with why the Bengals' won or by how much. San Antonio Bengal
I don't think the Bengals have to apologize to anyone for those wins, nor do we need to automatically downgrade MN because Cincy butchered them. Don't read too much into such a brief comment. The intended scope of my comment was just for a single game, not the entire season. For a given game, I assume our opponent is able to beat us. That's the attitude I took into the Browns and Vikings game and the way I'm going into the rest of the games this season. Somewhere during the game, the Vikings had done enough wrong to prove me wrong, to prove that they weren't able to beat us. That doesn't mean that the Vikings are a bad team or that they are going to miss the playoffs or anything like that. It was just a comment about that particular game.
