semiotter Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Man what a great day. Our Bengals look good( I KNOW IT WAS ONLY THE browns). But heck they always play us tough. The OFF. looks good, Carson still needs to work on late game bad passes. But running game is soild real solid. 'O" line did there job today. DEF. played good, only 13 pts. giving up. Cleveland started out of the gate fast running for some good yardage. But with some adjustments we did a god job on them for most of the last 3 QTs. So im happy with the effort and feel good about the season... Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 No! The Bengals made it look too easy. I'm not used to not sweating my ass off in the 4th quarter! They beat some serious problems today by winning their 1st game and doing it on the road. Color me impressed. :player: Quote
San Antonio Bengal Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 I don't care whether it's New England or Cleveland, any road win in the NFL is difficult. The defense bent, but it didn't break. Even though there were those Rolaids moments, the defense only gave up 13 points. And had two interceptions. That's huge. The score could have been much closer than what it was. After that initial 3 and out, the offense kicked it in and it was on all fronts: Carson, Rudi, Chad, with assistance from TJ, Walter, Perry. Shayne was perfect on FGs, but the kickoffs still need work. And always wanting to acknowledge the overlooked punter, Larson averaged 47 yds/punt.There's stuff to work on, but wow, this team has some areas that look great. Bring on Minnesota!! Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 The only thing that worried me was the number of bad passes Carson Palmer made. He got lucky and penalties saved his ass from a very bad day. Quote
CBin2k7 Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Palmer made only one real bad throw that I saw and that was the pass in the end zone, on the INT return that was called back, the receiver fell down, the ball was a little behind but the receiver still fell down.D played well, lack of pass rush contributed to the passing yards, the coverage was pretty strong but if you have all day to throw most receivers will get open. Quote
San Antonio Bengal Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 And one other good sign is that we only had 5 penalties for 40 yards. Former Bengals teams would have penalized themselves out of the game if they got any momentum. Instead it was Cleveland that did that. Quote
San Antonio Bengal Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 And one more thing... it looks like Carson's QB rating is about 107. :player: Quote
BengalBax Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Palmer made some very $hitty throws...a lot of QB's do...but his problem is that he always does it at the most backbreaking of times. Quote
membengal Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 happy. without reservations.1-0. That feels so damn good to say. Quote
membengal Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Palmer made some very $hitty throws...a lot of QB's do...but his problem is that he always does it at the most backbreaking of times. lol.slink away bax. His qb rating was 107 and he led that team to the win. Period.Your anti-Carson act gets really old. Bad passes happen. He needs to learn from it, and he will. Quote
semiotter Posted September 11, 2005 Author Report Posted September 11, 2005 Its all good in Bengaland (even in AZ). HA HA Quote
Sox Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Palmer made some very $hitty throws...a lot of QB's do...but his problem is that he always does it at the most backbreaking of times. Yes...all QB's do that while winning on the road, and posting a QB rating of 107. Quote
TecmoFever Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 I had to leave the house to run an errand with the Bengals up 27-10. (Yes, I'm a real Bengals fan; the errand had to be done.) I live in central KY, where the only game on the radio was Titans football. When I was able to get back to the TV, things looked in control at 27-13. What's amazing is that I wasn't surprised. The game felt in hand as soon as we put up those 17 straight points (most without CJ).I don't remember the last time we won a game with that little sweating as a fan (besides beating the Eagles 2nd team last year in a meaningless game).FEELS GOOD TO BE 1-0. Culpepper looked bad today without Moss. How 'bout 2-0? Quote
bengalbutch Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Very happy !! O'dell is a beast !!!!! but we need a pass rush. Quote
shatan Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Palmer made some very $hitty throws...a lot of QB's do...but his problem is that he always does it at the most backbreaking of times.hi risk, hi reward. you can't fluck-up unless you're not doing anything. Quote
buck3y3d Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 I am very happy, but still concerned. The defense could have been very porous to a a better offense line. There was little pressure on the QB (Justin Smith never seemed to get in the pocket, he did chase the qb outside), and Tory looked slow. Another problem, as every year was some missed assignments, but at least we tackled. Carson looked okay, he underthrew Chad deep, didn't secure the ball, and threw a mental int. Odell looked very good except for the trash talking to Heiden after a first down. As did Brian Simmons.I leave the game pretty satisfied because as has been said, a win on the road against anybody is good. Quote
DontPushMe Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Dont pat them on the back so much, they beat an bad team. Any team who plans on going to the playoffs SHOULD beat bad teams. Im happy that they didnt go out and blow it, but the fact is, we have a better team than the browns, and had no excuse for not winning. We took care of buisiness, and im happy for it, but a win over minnesota next week would say much more for our team.Palmer made some very $hitty throws...a lot of QB's do...but his problem is that he always does it at the most backbreaking of times. You my friend are clueless. Backbreaking of times? His INT came with 4 mins left in the game, us up 14, and gave the browns the ball at their 5 yardline. Thats not backbreaking at all. It was bad playcalling though to be throwing at that time. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 The only thing that worried me was the number of bad passes Carson Palmer made. He got lucky and penalties saved his ass from a very bad day. Please, he had one stupid throw for an INT and his fumble was another mental mistake, both happened when the game was out of reach and they were toying with the Stains. The INT that was called back was where TJ fell down. Make no mention of the fact he was being pressured all day long.Other than that he was brilliant Quote
San Antonio Bengal Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 There was little pressure on the QBWe didn't have any sacks today. This is a concern.Tory looked slowDidn't he have something wrong with his foot? I think the slowness was just from not being 100%. Quote
AGrizzlyBaer Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 1-0 thats a nice feeling haha bring on the vikes Quote
San Antonio Bengal Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 Dont pat them on the back so much, they beat an bad team. We're just enjoying the win, that's all. Beating the Browns requires a celebration no matter how good the Bengals or Browns may be in any season. Quote

Yeah, they SHOULD but they usually DON'T, or didn't you get my memo a few weeks back?If you look at the type of games in which the Bengals historically choke, this was a "perfect storm." Division game...away game...opener...clearly inferior opponent...this is precisely the kind of game the Bengals lose as a matter of course. This time, with a little help from the zebras , they come out ahead. This was a good day. :player: Quote

Away game, against an inferior opponent, and it's a choke! We weren't winning games we should have won last season. We start of this season by winning a game we should have won and by 14 points no less. So this is change for the better. Therefore, we celebrate. WHO DEY! :player: Quote
MacD BengalFan Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 The Bengals got some lucky breaks that in the past seemed to go against them. Yes, I am happy with the victory, but I am a little concerned that the defense is still not where it should be. They did get 3 turnovers, but they also gave up over 300 yards to an offense that should have only had 200 yards total. If the Browns had been a better team, I think they would have overcome the turnovers and the score would have been closer or potentially it could have been a loose. But yes, a win is a win and that it shall be. Lets hope they get better on shutting down the run. If not, it could be a long season. Quote
