I've heard the football players (Deion $1000 challenge and Warrick Dunn's $5000 challenge) to all NFL players. But there is a lot of need out there, and as Team Chaplain I feel like it can be my responsibility to challenge everyone on this board to do something...skip beer for the night and give $20.

I did and it feels great. Go to www.redcross.org and you can give with a credit card online...or there are tons of local efforts...I went in with a friend who owns a store and bought a bunch of blankets...everybody out there, whether you are a teenager or an old fart...find $20 and give it...then log on here and let us know...the more who do, the more will be encouraged to do so.

The real $ in this nation is in the pocket of the common masses...if we leave it up to only the rich it won't get done.

Already in.

Have you heard the reports of people offering to let the evacuees stay at their homes ?? I think that's tremendous.

Good shout Padre.

I shall forfeit this evenings' alcohol intake and have donated £20 to the British Red Cross. This is not snubbing your American Red Cross but just that I can donate the income tax I've paid on the money via the "gift aid" scheme for UK Taxpayers. This meant that my donation was knocked up to £25.64 as the government will pay my tax to the charity, so all in all about $45 is in the coffers!

If ScottishBengal can forgo alcohol for one evening, then so can I. $20 cash to the local Red Cross office on Monday. I have a feeling they won't be taking a holiday this Labor day.

I gave blood and donated the contents of my wallet last wednesday. There is no reason why any of us, that are lucky enough to be able to go to the bank and get more money, should not empty our wallets when donating to save lives. I just hope that the donations actually go to deserving people and dont get missused like so much of the 911 money did, that was dissapointing.

We gave $10 at the Bengals-Colts game Friday and another $10 yesterday while shopping at Sears. The cahsier said that one of the other cahsiers posted their five bedroom home on the website for people that have extra space for the displaced people of NO. That's pretty cool.

Our church is sure to have some type of collection/relief effort also.

Yeah, last Wednesday night my wife and I were having a hard time deciding where to eat for dinner that night. That really brought it home for us...when you're hardest decision is where to go eat, then you know you're doing pretty well.

We made a donation that night.

Mine came when I was watching the news and saw the 18 month old toddler wearing nothing but a shirt.

My grandson ... just short of 2 was playing on the floor in front of the tv ... and it was like I got knifed in the ribs.

Good job, guys...I'm hoping to hear from a lot more of your guys...The Bengals game will be here soon enough and our long wait will be over...but this week do all you can.

We are having a lot of "refugees" coming here to Georgia...Tammy (my wife) and I are going to offer our home up to a family.-(great idea Jak and redsfan).

I want to hear more reports...with $20 we bought 5 blankets...that means 5 people slept a little softer or a little warmer...a little can do a lot.

Damn ATM ate my card yesterday, so as soon as I get a new one, it's done. Also, we're trying to get our school president to let the kids from the school's down there come up here and go to school here. We'll see how that turns out, hopefully we can get some sort of nationwide system going.

Good job everyone.

Good top see some of our overseas family jumping in...we love you guys...

How about some of you teenagers...skip a movie or a Playstation II game...you guys can come up with a twenty. Once one or 2 commits, others will join ya.

Why do I feel like a telethon host...or worse, a televangelist...OMG, I gotta stop...but, of course, I'm getting no kickbacks from the Red Cross.

B) Well ... you'd make a dam poor televangelist ............ For one thing you're not saying " Send me the money " ...... or like that one clown who ( clown who ? hahahahah .... sometimes I crack me up ) anyway he was telling a member of his audience " and you know who you are " to sell his car and send him the money. I almost shot coffee out of my nose.

Keep doing the good work Rev. Obviously you're big in more ways than one.

I donated $500. I mean since the government isnt doing anything(Bush Administration) I figured on doing my part. This was the worst disaster I have ever seen since 9/11. I think everyone, should do something to help out. We should rally together Bengalszone.com and make a collection basket. It would only be right.

Good going, WCA! That's not a bad idea...or at least B24, maybe you could set up a link to the Red Cross on the site.

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Greg Brooks was still waiting to hear from his family, including his young son, "Little Greg," as of Friday night in the wake of the hurricane's destruction.

Brooks, a New Orleans native who played for Southern Mississippi, told the Cincinnati Enquirer he had "no news" from his son or any of his family.

"It's just so hard not to know," Brooks told the paper.

The news was better for some of Brooks' teammates, as word flowed in from their families.

Rookie wide receiver Chris Henry welcomed his mother and other family members to his home in Florence, Ky., after they'd driven from their flooded home in Belle Chase, La., while cornerback Tory James brought his wife and daughter to his in-season home.

Cornerback Reggie Miles had heard from most of his family in his hometown of Pascagoula, Miss., but had not yet heard from an aunt and his seven nephews and nieces.

Already gave ...

But I am sure that we will give more before this is over, we need to remember that this is not going to be just a short term problem.

The first plane loads of refugees began arriving in Phoenix tonight, with more flights scheduled for labor day. The communities across this country seem to be reaching out to these people and families with donations, providing them with shelter, and even taking them directly into their homes. I see no reason this won't continue to grow. This could have as easily been any of us instead without homes had disaster struck elsewhere.
