NJ29
NFL Total Access reported that the Bengals are in the top 3 for Corey Simon along with Seattle and Indy. The reporter speculated that Seattle would be out of the race financially after signing P-Dub, so it's probably down to us and Indy. Thoughts? HoosierCat
My 1st thought is it's good news.My 2nd thought is if it's really just us and Indy we ought to have no trouble outbidding them straight up...question is if they play any "funny money" games and the bengals balk (which they normally do at such things). My 3rd thought is somone ought to sabotage the Oakland phone system if things get close. kingwilly
I figure that Simon is going to try to get as much $ as he can, but how much of his decision, if it is down to these 3, will be made on which team has best chance to win a SB. Personally, I'd be more attracted to the Indy possibility based on the strength of the that team.

cphillippi
I think Indy will sign Simon. Not to be mean but why are you even at this website? I don't go hanging around Browns websites dogging them all day.
The Big Orange
It's all right Phillipians...Who? is all right...he's just kinda like a red-headed step-child...but he's still family...not that we don't seem to have a lot of black sheep around here...and more heathens per sqare inch then Sodom
Who?
I don't "dog" the Bengals all day, I come here to talk football, I talk football here and at "DawgTalk" on ClevelandBrowns.com. Sorry for bringing a little "diversity" to the board by being a fan from another team.

Stripes
Soooooo even Browns fans don't like him so he hangs around Bengals fans for support That doesn't really add up. If a Browns fan is rejected by fellow Browns fans, he'd never find refuge at a Bengals site.

Woah, just looking at that board makes me dizzy. Don't know if it's the Colt colors, or just the layout but good grief.
jbx182
is there enough room to sign simon, not just for this year, but future years with having to re-do cj and carson's contracts (among others) next year? hope we don't go down that colts road and just spend on offense, would love to have simon in orange! There's room. It just depends on how creative the bengals are willing to be and how much cash Mikey actually has on hand (and that he's willing to spend).Hobson has said that Carson's deal will probably be redone next year to create space. CJ is fine, I think. But looking ahead over the next couple of years...there are a bunch of guys who might not be long for stripes...Duane ClemonsCarl PowellJustin SmithJohn ThorntonBrian SimmonsRich BrahamLevi JonesWillie AndersonKim HerringNow I am NOT saying all these guys will or even should be cut...but some of them will be, freeing up space. And there are young guys behind all of them with talent.

Indy is more likely to win a superbowl this year than the Bengals, that's why.
Sportsdoc
Dexter Reid signed with the Colts so how much money could they have left to sign Simon?Guess they feel safety is week but they already have Mike Doss 2nd rounder, Bob Sanders 1st rounder

It will likely come down to two things, who is the most creative, and whether Simon actually believes the bengals are a playoff team. He knows the Colts are.If it comes down to equal offers, us v. Indy, he is IMHO a Colt. Bengals want him, they have to step up.
scott91575
New to the forum. Been a life long Bengals fan. Nice site. Anyway here are a few other things...Reggie Wayne is a free agent next year. There are also 2 or 3 other Colt free agents next year they need to sign (John Clayton mentioned them on ESPN Gamenight...he highly doubts the Colts go for Simon). I don't think Indy wants to give up the best #2 WR in the game, or be willing to part with a few others for Simon. Their other newly done deals cannot be restructured to their advantage for a couple of years, and Peyton's contract is already so backloaded that there is little room there. Bengals have a huge edge over Indy. The Raiders are one of the most capped out teams in the league. No way they are a player in this. The other 3 to watch out for are San Fran, Miami, and NY Giants (especially the Giants). They have cap room and a need at DT. Now, none of those teams are in a Super Bowl mode, but if Simon is all about getting paid these are the teams that can afford it.The Bengals have Palmer's contract that can be renegotiated to help with cap room and still sign Jones and/or Anderson. CJ will also get a renegotiated contract. The Bengals are in a good position. The Ravens are playing the waiting game hoping the price for Simon drops big time. The Seahawks lost alot of cap room with the Warrick signing.I honeslty think the Bengals make an offer they think he is worth, and don't go overboard. Yet I also think this will be the best offer from a team with over 6 wins. We'll see how it plays out, but the Bengals are in a good positon thanks to the fact Simon is a free agent so late. rizzy
How many days do you think it will be before simon makes a choice on which team to go with??
scott91575
Yes, I heard KC discussed, but it seemed like speculation. No talk on how their cap situiation is, or if they even have interest. Certainly would be a good fit. Might need to look into that one.
